Hideaway on Houghton Lake has it all!

I grew up in Cadillac, Michigan and my husband and I wanted to escape the hot summer of 2012 where we now live in the central US, so booked a week here when a special DEAL was offered online. SO glad we did...the owner is wonderful--She has remodeled the cottage and has thought of just about everything anyone might like to have available for a fun time at the lake. The kitchen has plenty of cookware, although the oven looked old, so we used the microwave. An assortment of dishes, cleaning supplies, staples plus 'little extras' left for us by the owner, made us feel right at home. In the bathroom, a brand new glass ultra-modern shower is a dream to use. The wi-fi, satelite tv and new a/c were bonus's not always available 'UP NORTH' and very appreciated.
There are black squirrels, lots of ducks, kirkland warblers and other songbirds, plus a bald eagle which flew right over the cottage several times during the week of our stay! There's even a jon boat with trolling motor included in the rent .(Kayak's are also available.) or there's a pontoon boat available for an additional charge A nice big firepit offers wonderful evening campfire possibilities right at the water's edge. We loved it here!
