I lived in St. Thomas for two years 35 years ago. I am an avid traveller but didn't make it back to the Virgin Islands until 10 years ago. Having been around the world, I appreciated the beauty of St. Thomas much more. The view from my balcony is more beautiful than anywhere I have been. I now live here year round and have never tired of the views or the wonderful weather.

Sapphire Beach is one of the best beaches on St. Thomas and in the world. The views are beyond compare. The snorkeling is great.
This is a great place to enjoy the beautiful swimming beach and great snorkeling right outside your door. It is conveniently located just 3 minutes from Red Hook with great restaurants, shopping and the ferry to St. John and the British Virgin Islands.
Val and I did not want to do another winter in NY and what better place for us but Sapphire Beach, St Thomas. This condo that we rented is in D building which is on the pool side of the beach away from where all the cruise people are brought. Beautiful views of St. John and the many islands that surround the area. Three months is a long time to stay at a vacation spot but Sheila & Jim live there and were always available should a problem arise. Many people have asked us what we did for three months and believe me the time went really fast. The island has many beaches to check out as well as all the beaches on St John. The ferry is less than a mile away. However as for me there is no better beach for snorkeling or the views than Sapphire! Go into Redhook which is less than a mile away for lunch, happy hour, dinner or live entertainment at night. No need to go further. Some places you want to check out are Tap & Still, Molly Malones, XO, Pesce and Latitudes. If all that is not enough you are next to a marina that offers many boat excursions. Oh and what else is there to do, well we checked out the Island for real estate and we are purchasing a condo right there on Sapphire for future winters! We were a group of 16 who rented 5 condos at Sapphire Beach Resort. We rented both of Sheila's condos that are next to each other. It was so nice to open up the patio between the two to make a large area that many nights our full group would hang out.
The condos were perfect and had everything that we needed for our stay. To wake up to the view each morning was heavenly and the beach was great.
We ate at Fish Tails, Caribbean Fish Market, Sunset Grille and Oceana and all were very good.
Sheila answered tons of my questions in a timely manner and gave me great information that I used throughout our trip. She really does care that you have a good time on vacation.

The view was incredible from the balcony! And that would have been enough to get the 5 stars, you are 20 ft from the ocean, you can hear the surf at night. Sunrise is directly in front of you and rises over St. John.
The condo is clean, and nicely decorated. The king bed, fantastic. There are wooden room dividers that you can pull closed for privacy, or move out of the way for an ocean view. Everything was well maintained and new. Nice stone tile in the bathroom, well ventilated and no bad island smells.
We felt so comfortable here. Just loved it!
Sheila sent us a long email with information on where to eat and places to visit. We went to fish tails and Molly Maloney. Although we were going to go to Coki beach, we ended up just staying at Saphire beach for the 2 days we were here. It is beautiful, there were free chairs and snorkeling equipment, places to sit in the shade on the waters edge, great snorkeling and a nice pool.there is a restaurant by the pool up the hill from the marina, (not far). That had the best fish and chips! The fish was locally caught and so delicious. You have to try it.

This was our second stay with Sheila in the past year (previously, Mar '12 in D211) and everything was as perfect as we remembered! While this unit doesn't have the wrap around balcony of D211, we loved the kitchen and bath so we left undecided about which was our favorite unit! Sheila is an "on sight" owner and the attention to detail she puts into her units is exceptional. The "Heavenly Beds" are such a treat it makes getting up in the morning a little too difficult considering you're in paradise! The views from Sapphire and Sheila's condos in particular are indescribable. Pictures don't do them justice. The ocean is 20 feet from your balcony and listening to the waves roll onto the shore is priceless for us! As for Sapphire, we think it's the best beach on the island and with it's proximity to Red Hook (1/2 mile) everything you want is within 2 minutes it's impossible to beat this location. That said, we definitely recommend renting a car as we like to explore the island and head over to St. John by car ferry. We've looked at Secret Harbor (another favorite beach) and few other places but the units really don't compare to Sheila's. If you can rent through Sheila go no further, units no where on the island are better. Rent with confidence, you'll love this place! Thank you again for everything Sheila!!! We hope to be back soon.
We just returned from a stay at this owner's unit right next door to this one, which is a corner unit and very nice. We usually stay at 5 star resorts and believe me when I say that I am very fussy, but lately we have been enjoying the better situated condo properties so that we can have our bfast and coffee privately & have a much better view than ANY of the resorts on St. Thomas could give. Personally, I think this unit would be just as nice as the corner if the corner unit is not avail. because of this building's situation on the beach. The units are very clean and provide everything one would need and also have beach chairs avail on the beach or you can use the ones that you carry that are in the unit. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need and everything worked perfectly. The air wkd great, the shower pressure and water temps, great, I found NO fault with staying here. The marina is right next door and is nice to be able to walk the docks. I have NO complaints about the units that this owner provides. The buildings are a little in need of some care, but the location and the pool situation cannot be beat. The pool is two levels and sits on a little piece of land with ocean on both sides. The views from the pool are beautiful. Also, staying here will get you to go out and find the restaurants which have great atmosphere and incredibly friendly people.
Being the over planning, high maint traveler, Sheila was great. When we first arrived, there was some construction going on in the bldg next to us and there was jackhammering. I can't imagine anyone not freaking out at the thought of hearing a jackhammer while on vacation hoping to hear nothing but ocean. Anyway, pre-trip, Sheila gave me her # in case there was anything I needed. I never would have imagined that she would even answer the phone so that I didn't have to leave a message, but she also immediately addressed the situation. Before coming over to our unit, she first stopped by where the construction was going on to get the full story so she could report back to us. When she arrived, like 10 mins later, she had the good news that they would be working another 30 mins that day and about 3-4 hrs the next, which we never heard. I didn't expect such a quick and understanding response, she even offered us another unit and offered to make us painkillers if it was too much to bear the next day. Ppl talk about "island mentality", well, not with this owner. We'll be back!
Three weeks ago I was lucky enough to be on vacation at Sapphire Beach. We were there from 5/22 thru 5/27. Another perfect pick was the condo that we rented, Seaside by Side. I can't think of anything we needed or wanted that was not included in the rental. Sheila's condo is very nicely done & very comfortable. I really like the tiled shower with glass door, the glass door offered more light & seemed cleaner than a curtain.The condo is a end unit so there are more windows & the balcony is larger. One of the best parts of the day was spent on the balcony, watching the sun come up, with a cup of Puerto Rican coffee. Our trip was shared with friends who rented Sheila's other condo. We opened the doors on the balcony which really increased the space. You can spend time together but you also have your own space. I would recommend these condos for couples who are doing vacation together. Renting from Sheila was easy & she offered good suggestions on things to do & places to eat. The pictures on her site are very accurate. The condo size & layout is perfect for a couple. Most of our time was spent at the beach but when the day was over we had a clean, comfortable, updated place to relax & make plans for the next wonderful day. I would rent this condo again! Thank you so much for sharing your part of paradise with us. Sapphire Beach is just that, Paradise.
