I own and manage Bee Naturals Skincare and have lived in Clarksville for 18 years. I reside in a restored 1894 Victorian home and have many furry 'kids' love to cook, travel, read and formulate skin care products.
Barbara purchased this apartment in 2004
The beauty and atmosphere of this historic river town are so appealing that I decided to live here. I feel like I'm on vacation, yet I'm only an hour from St. Louis. It doesn't get any better than this!
The property is quiet and private and I feel completely recharged after a day or two, plus I can enjoy interacting with the local artisans.
Very nice. Kitchen a bit small only one person could cook. Had trouble with DVD. Called Barbara and she had a friend come and get it working. Beds comfy. Back steps very poor condition. Icy salt didn't help. Had a minor fall. Saw lots of eagles! Tubbys was really good for lunch! Products in store really nice. Liked the free $25.00.
My husband and I stayed for 5 nights with my brother and his wife joining us for the first 2 nights at no extra cost. Well-stocked kitchen for cooking, coffee beans, grinder and french press too! Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Close to St Louis and Hannibal to enjoy the countryside driving to and from Clarksville. Apartment is above owner's business Bee Naturals and rental includes $25 in store credit. Plus we bought extra products too.
I’d like to first say that this was one of the nicer places we’ve stayed in. It had a wonderful “lived” in feel to it. Our family has used VRBO / Home Away in the past. We also own a Bluegreen timeshare. We are a family of 6 and can’t / refuse to stay in a standard hotel. Barbara , the owner, was great to work with in the booking of her loft. I’d like to mention that it was great that she didn’t sneak a cleaning fee into the cost. You can also stay just one night, such as we did, and not get charged for two nights. We planned a last minute family getaway a day before we wanted to leave. From finding The Bee Naturals in on Home away, to talking with Barbara, to showing up, to check out, everything went as smooth as silk.
Upon our arrival (at midnight) everything was GREAT! Barbara is a night owl so she met us at the door when we showed up. The loft is very clean and smells wonderful. There was an abundance of extra blankets, a huge surplus of towels, a nicely appointed kitchen with more than we needed, nicely decorated with a “not too much or too little” feel to it, and a well stocked bathroom. On the note of the bathroom, Barbara stocks it will a good selection of her Bee Naturals lotions and soaps. They smell and feel great. Just bring your toothbrush…..leave the rest of your stuff at home. When we checked out, in her shop downstairs, she even has a surprise for you. The surrounding town has a nice charming feel to it. I can’t say enough good things about the Bee Naturals Inn. If you’re looking for a place to stay when traveling through I highly recommend staying here.
I saw the photos online and was skeptical about the space as my son, daughter, her husband and my 2 grand kids were staying there. We arrived, found the place easily and from the moment we walked in the door we were impressed. The place is spacious, clean, quiet and it smelled so good. Every peice of linen towels, bedding and even the carpet were all nice quality. I would encourage you to stay at the Bee Hive Inn. Barbara was wonderful to work with and flexible. I'm thrilled to have learned of such a nice place to stay.
I was visiting the area after leaving it 40 years ago; a high school reunion led me back to the gorgeous Mississippi valley and farms. I wanted a place to be able to reflect and RELAX. What a prize I got with the Bee Hive Inn! Although it sleeps more than just one I loved being the only one there. The full kitchen was a huge plus, allowing me to save some bucks. Proprietor Barbara was very accommodating, aswering any questions I had but leaving me alone to do my own 'thing' - appreciated it! The apartment is updated, clean and just had a great feeling about it.
I would highly recommend the Inn. Two full bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, tv...tons of magazines, books and movies to keep you busy if you're not outside surveying the area, watching the river, going over into Illinois for fresh produce, shopping [several nice shops across the street], or catching up with friends at a 40th!!
I have to mention that anyone with leg/hip problems might have a barrier with the steps as this is on the second floor. But other than that....SUPER!
We had a great stay at this property. The pictures are very accurate for this clean, well decorated 2 bedroom apartment situated over a small shop (Beehive with great skin products) on the main street of Clarksville. The beds were comfortable with nice linens, bathrooms modern and updated. There was plenty of room for our family of 2 parents and 3 young adult kids. We looked out over the Mississippi River and you can walk to many quaint antique and craft shops in the town. As it turned out the River was flooded that weekend and the owner couldn't have been nicer about getting us safely to the building and around the sandbags set up to protect the town. We had no water or power problems. It was interesting to check out the dam and gates/locks to move boats up and down the river. I'd recommend The Station restaurant - good food and lovely patio area, but had to come in a back way as Rt 79 underwater!
If you like antiques, you will love the Clarksville Antique Center. Allow hours to browse; it huge! Our property is located in the intimate, artisan filled, historic downtown area. See furniture, chair makers, a potter, and glassblowers at work. Take a leisurely drive to historic Louisiana, MO or Hannibal, MO, or perhaps a drive into St. Louis for a visit to the spectacular St. Louis Zoo, Forest Park or one of the many museums.
