I own and manage Bee Naturals Skincare and have lived in Clarksville for 18 years. I reside in a restored 1894 Victorian home and have many furry 'kids' love to cook, travel, read and formulate skin care products.

Barbara purchased this apartment in 2004

The beauty and atmosphere of this historic river town are so appealing that I decided to live here. I feel like I'm on vacation, yet I'm only an hour from St. Louis. It doesn't get any better than this!

The property is quiet and private and I feel completely recharged after a day or two, plus I can enjoy interacting with the local artisans.

I’d like to first say that this was one of the nicer places we’ve stayed in. It had a wonderful “lived” in feel to it. Our family has used VRBO / Home Away in the past. We also own a Bluegreen timeshare. We are a family of 6 and can’t / refuse to stay in a standard hotel. Barbara , the owner, was great to work with in the booking of her loft. I’d like to mention that it was great that she didn’t sneak a cleaning fee into the cost. You can also stay just one night, such as we did, and not get charged for two nights. We planned a last minute family getaway a day before we wanted to leave. From finding The Bee Naturals in on Home away, to talking with Barbara, to showing up, to check out, everything went as smooth as silk.
Upon our arrival (at midnight) everything was GREAT! Barbara is a night owl so she met us at the door when we showed up. The loft is very clean and smells wonderful. There was an abundance of extra blankets, a huge surplus of towels, a nicely appointed kitchen with more than we needed, nicely decorated with a “not too much or too little” feel to it, and a well stocked bathroom. On the note of the bathroom, Barbara stocks it will a good selection of her Bee Naturals lotions and soaps. They smell and feel great. Just bring your toothbrush…..leave the rest of your stuff at home. When we checked out, in her shop downstairs, she even has a surprise for you. The surrounding town has a nice charming feel to it. I can’t say enough good things about the Bee Naturals Inn. If you’re looking for a place to stay when traveling through I highly recommend staying here.

In town for my daughters wedding

I saw the photos online and was skeptical about the space as my son, daughter, her husband and my 2 grand kids were staying there. We arrived, found the place easily and from the moment we walked in the door we were impressed. The place is spacious, clean, quiet and it smelled so good. Every peice of linen towels, bedding and even the carpet were all nice quality. I would encourage you to stay at the Bee Hive Inn. Barbara was wonderful to work with and flexible. I'm thrilled to have learned of such a nice place to stay.

High school 40th!

I was visiting the area after leaving it 40 years ago; a high school reunion led me back to the gorgeous Mississippi valley and farms. I wanted a place to be able to reflect and RELAX. What a prize I got with the Bee Hive Inn! Although it sleeps more than just one I loved being the only one there. The full kitchen was a huge plus, allowing me to save some bucks. Proprietor Barbara was very accommodating, aswering any questions I had but leaving me alone to do my own 'thing' - appreciated it! The apartment is updated, clean and just had a great feeling about it.

I would highly recommend the Inn. Two full bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, tv...tons of magazines, books and movies to keep you busy if you're not outside surveying the area, watching the river, going over into Illinois for fresh produce, shopping [several nice shops across the street], or catching up with friends at a 40th!!

I have to mention that anyone with leg/hip problems might have a barrier with the steps as this is on the second floor. But other than that....SUPER!

Owner's Response: Cindy, it was a delight to have you as our guest and I'm so pleased that your enjoyed the Inn and the area. Often things don't work out to be what we expected, but occasionally we find delightful surprises in life.
We hope you'll come relax with us again, sometime soon!

weekend travel to family wedding in clarksville

We had a great stay at this property. The pictures are very accurate for this clean, well decorated 2 bedroom apartment situated over a small shop (Beehive with great skin products) on the main street of Clarksville. The beds were comfortable with nice linens, bathrooms modern and updated. There was plenty of room for our family of 2 parents and 3 young adult kids. We looked out over the Mississippi River and you can walk to many quaint antique and craft shops in the town. As it turned out the River was flooded that weekend and the owner couldn't have been nicer about getting us safely to the building and around the sandbags set up to protect the town. We had no water or power problems. It was interesting to check out the dam and gates/locks to move boats up and down the river. I'd recommend The Station restaurant - good food and lovely patio area, but had to come in a back way as Rt 79 underwater!

Comfortable, charming, excptionally clean and spacious. Terrific owner!

Wow! I was ready to move in! Terrific kitchen, full complement of everything we could want, right down to the coffee beans, grinder, French press coffpot and condiments in the fridge! Lovely original artwork, skylights, beautiful kitchen cabinetry, comfy queen bed with luxuriously soft linens, and a great river view. We wanted a little getaway weekend for my husband's birthday, and were not disappointed. We spent the days watching bald eagles swoop down and snatch fish from the river, from the living room windows! We walked and drove around the wooded hills, looking at beautiful old houses. We got lost in the huge antique mall, ate twice at the terrific Overlook Farm Station restaurant, explored ASL Pewter in nearby Louisiana, and had three fantastic breakfasts at the Overlook Farms Cafe. The Bentree Gallery has incredible handmade furniture and buttery soft leather goods. People in both towns are friendly. Oh, and you have to stop in the Windsor Chair shop, where they make the most authentic and comfortable chairs in beautiful colors and styles worthy of a museum. The man who runs it plays Santa for the month of December, and he will spoil mall Santas for you after meeting him. Check out the "real Santa Clarksville MO" to see what I am talking about. Back to the Beehive...we also had a private entrance, wifi, satellite TV, and took our cat, who loved those deep windowsills overlooking the river. The baths were stocked with oodles of Bee Naturals products made by the proprietress, so it made check out a bit difficult, because I wanted one of everything to take home with us. She will also custom-blend essential oils and fragrances for you on the spot. We've stayed at lots of B&B's and some other vrbo sites, and this is the first one I want to give an unqualified 5 stars. Just a terrific place! We will definitely be going there again! You must be able to climb stairs to enter the rental. Canoeing and kayaking are possible nearby, and they have two bikes and helmets available. We didn't try those activities at the time because it dropped down to 18 degrees F, and there was a small ice storm! Only wish we had a fireplace for the ambiance that night! Oh well, the shower was big enough for two...

Owner's Response: Lois and Carl,

It was a pleasure to have you as our guests, including your sweet kitty and thank you for such a lovely review! I'm so glad you had the opportunity to really explore the area and experience the warmth and charm of our lovely river community.

I moved from St. Louis 17 years ago and still think Clarksville is one of the best kept secrets around; close enough to do 'big city' activities while living in a beautiful, countryside setting. I feel very privileged to have found this gem.

We hope you will come back, either to visit or to stay when the weather is warmer and I'll see to it that you get a personalized experience on the Mississippi. It's amazing to explore the coves and islands on the river and my expert kayaking friend Kevin will even take you out for a sunset paddle, complete with dinner and overnight under the stars, if you like. I personally can't wait until spring so I can go 'boat camping' with my two pups, Willie and Newton, the best little traveler/adventurers ever!

Warm regards,
Barbara
