This is the story of the Big Blue House which not long ago was barely fit for a mouse. It all started late in 2008 Norm and Jenny began working late. They did not think it would take much to fix this old house a whole bunch! They called Joe, Jeremy and David too, before too long Louie was a part of the crew. Soon every room was being redesigned always with the comfort of our guests on our minds!
In 2008 we truly worked late but by 2009 the entire crew was on overtime! The winter passed and spring arrived the summer of 2009 was the deadline. Norm began to fear our guests would come and we would not be done. The night before the first guests would come Kenny told Jenny I usually only fix the pipes but if you need me I can work all night. So Norm and Jenny with the help of Louie and Kenny worked with all their might that very last night.
When their tired eyes saw the sun rise Norm passed out as Jenny said, “The house is not complete the beds still need their sheets.” We have 2 king beds on the first floor head up the stairs and there is more! Two queens, a crib, a rocker and a two roll away beds too you are sure to find a bed just right for you!
The kitchen is beautiful blue, all the dishes, pots and pans even a ceiling fan are here for you to use. Everything you will need to cook all day - there is so much room no one will get in your way!
The bathroom is big and bright with a bath tub for the little ones who like to soak and scrub at night! The laundry room is for you just in case you like to keep your clothes bright and looking new!
In the spring of 2010 more work was to begin! It started out as we need to paint & fix some trim then Jenny noticed the gables looked grim! With a saw & a router & one old wooden table Norm and Louie created custom gables. Then we poured some cement and that’s where the Jacuzzi went. Still the outside was not complete no one likes dirt on their feet. We added more for you to adore, brick pavers and the fire pit!
Unless you invite a guest or two the Jacuzzi and fire pit are just for those in the house to use! Next we knew the sunroom needed more flair too. Soft and quiet is what you will find it is a place for you to relax and unwind.
We hope our guests will love the house as much as we do we want you to come back at least a time or two!

Hi everyone! Our names are Norm and Jenny. We both grew up in the state of Michigan and love it here! We love to travel and hope that one day you will find the time to travel to our house!
The Owner purchased this house in 2008
Lakeport is where we live, it is a small quaint little town located on the shores of Lake Huron. We are located right between Port Huron and Lexington. We really enjoy everything about this location. The property is private with a beautiful sandy beach for the guests to use. We find it hard to leave here in the summer but when we can there is always something to do in Port Huron or Lexington. We also enjoy easy access to nearly all of metro Detroit via I 94, Canada via the Blue Water Bridge, Flint & Lansing via Hwy 69. Lakeport is a tiny hidden treasure!
We had a great long weekend over spring break with our kids at the Blue House. Beautiful beach and walking area out the front door. Loved watching the water and being able to let the kids run freely without worry. What a bonus to be three houses from a large public beach and wooded area. Enjoyed driving up M-25 and finding small towns to explore. The Blue House was even cozier than expected and was great for our family of six. Norm and Jenny were very accomodating and were around to answer many questions and give great tours of the property (not to mention hosting a huge campfire). It was fun to envision how all their renovations are going to add up to an amazing resort. We would definately recommend a trip there to enjoy Lake Huron. Only a 1 1/2 hour drive from the Detroit area.
The blue house is fabulous! It is decorated beautifully and it has a great view! It was the perfect place for a girls weekend! Jenny and Norm are very personable, welcoming, and accommodating. They exceeded customer service and we truly enjoyed our stay!!! Thank you Norm and Jenny for everything!!!!
Just completed a 7-day stay (Dec 26th-Jan 1) here at Norm and Jenny's North Lakeport cabin and it was PERFECT!! I 100% recommend it!
LOCATION: about 10miles from the shopping mecca of Port Huron (Barnes & Noble with a Starbucks!), its right on Lake Huron so its easy to find, easy to get to and you will feel like your 300 miles 'up north'!!
CABIN: Beautiful! Perfect in every way. Jenny is an impeccable interior designer and you know this the second you step into the cabin. Granite counter tops, stone floors, barn wood combine to give it an upscale, yet homey environment, while the linens, furniture and home decor add to the overall comfort. We made a complete dinner for 16 in the kitchen- everything we needed to cook and serve was readily available right in the cupboards! The kids really liked the flat screen tv's and with two tv's in the cabin, the adults could enjoy themselves while the tv (and wii!) blasted upstairs!
SERVICE: Norm and Jenny were the perfect hosts. They were around if you needed something but they were not watching over you. They offered us over 600 CD's, many of which were supplied in massive cases right in the unit. I had mentioned to Jenny that I liked good coffee, so Jenny even made sure the coffee grinder was working! They attended to our every need (although we didn't have many since they had already thought of everything already!!).
THE OUTDOORS: Right on Lake Huron, we spend everyday walking on the beach. Even though it was winter, we enjoyed every minute of our time outdoors. Jenny and Norm's place is 3 houses away from a Michigan State Park so there is a public beach close by too! A perfect location! Loved watching the freighters go by on Lake Huron too!
RECOMMEND!! Yes, I definitely recommend Norm and Jenny's cabin and cottage (we rented both!). I would DEFINITELY return and I look forward to the day I'm back on their beach, glass of wine (or cup of coffee in hand!)!
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING JENNY AND NORM!!
