Our Point Loma hideaway is a haven of relaxed simplicity with the 'cool sensibility' of a great Bossa Nova tune or an earthy Pinot.

Nestled on a bluff three stories above the street, our house is a comfortable, non-pretentious refuge where you can come home to relax after a long day of surfing or sight-seeing. It's a place where you can take your shoes off and enjoy a great glass of wine while you sit on our Adirondack chairs and watch the sun set over the sailboats or curl up with a book in our hammock swing.

Our home is where you can take a vacation from your vacation. Our home is a place where you can come to enjoy some private, alone time with your family when you are in town for a busy destination wedding or college graduation.

Whether you are savoring that first cup of coffee under the red umbrella in our back garden or admiring the king palm while pouring a cocktail for your guests at our teak bar or curling up in front of the fire while the SeaWorld fireworks paint the sky in the distance, you will catch yourself thinking, 'I can get used to this.'

With over 2500 square feet, there is plenty of room for everyone to stretch out in their own space. You or your spouse can waste away the morning lost in a novel in the master bedroom reading area while your guests can enjoy some down time watching the surf break from their bed in the rose room. Meanwhile, the kids can play in the toy nook area or get busy with some soccer in the back yard.

Heck... if you really want to get away from it all, let us know and we can arrange catering and in-home massage.

Relax...breathe...enjoy yourself. There is no rush. You are on vacation AND you are at home.

About Laura Holcomb

Matt and I have lived in San Diego for over 20 years. Point Loma/Ocean Beach area has always been very special to us. We go to the beach twice a day to play fetch with our boys (Marlow & Oliver) and build sand castles with our children. We love Ocean Beach because it is one of the last great throw-backs to a lost California time when local burger joints, ice cream parlors, and surf shops defined the neighborhood. As a healthcare provider, I insisted on finding a home with a high-walkability score. There are some days that our cars never leave the garage as we can walk to the library, our favorite Italian restaurant down the street, or to several coffee shops. We make quite the entourage with a stroller, scooter, and two dogs in tow. We have always enjoyed entertaining and the highest compliment for us is when our friends say 'I don't want to leave...I feel like I am already home.' That is why we are happy to open our home to you and your family to enjoy. Though we won't be here with you in person, we hope you will feel the that same sense of hospitality and home when you visit. You are always welcome.

We actually did not buy the Point Loma Hideaway as a rental unit. This Point Loma 'Hideaway' is our cherished family home. Now that we spend half of our time in our second home in Seattle, we thought it a shame to let all this beauty go to waste and decided to make our home available as a place for out-of-town guests to enjoy. Our family has spent a fair amount of time traveling and no matter where we go we always enjoy coming home to Point Loma the best.

Wonderful house, the view of the ocean was beautiful. We had children and grandchildren together to visit my daughter who lives in San Diego, there we 9 of us in all. The accomodations were great. Great place to relax and close to all the sights of San Diego. Enjoyed walking every morning to Ocean Beach and Sunset Cliffs.

Relaxing, Convenient, Great for Entertaining!

My husband and I stayed at Hideaway House along with my sister & her husband and our Mom. The house was perfect for us, giving everyone their own space while having great family gathering areas for reading, chatting, watching TV, and even Rock Bank on the Wii! It was spacious, clean, well-maintained and located in a great neighborhood convenient to everything. We loved our mornings with Coffee on the deck followed by walks to Ocean Beach, afternoons exploring the sights around San Diego and evenings in with dinner and Sangria wine. We even hosted a dinner for our daughter's college softball team and the floor plan easily accommodated some 25-30 people, with plenty of space inside as well as great patio tables & chairs outside. Laura checked in via phone upon arrival to make sure everything was as we'd hoped... and it was! She gave tips on where to get take-out or grocery items and helped with any questions. As first-timers to San Diego, we loved the area and especially where Hideaway House was located and the great views of the ocean. In no time at all, we got to know our way around to visit Balboa Park, the Zoo, Old Town, Gas Lamp district, Mission Trail Park and San Diego State.
We highly recommend a stay at Hideway House. You will not be disappointed!

Amazing place to stay for families!

Upon entering the house and walking thru I just kept saying, "wow!" The views are amazing. The house is beautiful. Very spacious for our 5 adults and 3 children. Every single detail has been thought of. High chair, pack and play, movies, books, toys and more toys, beach chairs, boogies boards. I can't imagine traveling to San Diego and staying in a hotel again. The kitchen is stocked with everything you can imagine, including kids plates, cups etc. The owner is very kind and welcoming. She really wants your family to be comfortable. She has also labeled everything, and I mean everything, so there's no question on how something works. I've rented a lot of homes thru VRBO and this is by far the best experience I've had!

Wonderful Christmas family gathering!

We recently stayed a the Hideaway House for Christmas. We had a large group (12 of us!) and the house was perfect for us! The views are amazing, and the location is great for all there is to do in San Diego. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and there are two extra pull out sofas. Having 3 bathrooms is so nice as well. There is everything you need to cook, plenty of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc. The hideaway house really has everything you need! The home is clean, beautiful and comfortable! Laura even made sure there was a real Christmas tree as well as beautiful onaments for our family to enjoy. This home is wonderful for both adults and children. Thank you Laura for making this Christmas so memorable for our family! We have stayed here twice already while visiting San Diego and we hope we have the chance to stay here again!

Week of relaxing

Great week at the hideway house even though clouds hung around we had a great couple of sunny days. House has everything and master bath is to die for. Would recommend to any family with or without children. Farmers market is a must do and of course the beach.
