Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Hummingbird Cottage is a stylishly furnished modern cabin in a quiet, north side neighborhood. The Hummingbird is a 475 square foot studio apartment with all modern conveniences, including free Wi-Fi, flat screen TV and a washer and dryer.

The sleeping area has a pillow-topped, queen sized bed and a nightstand with drawer and a iPod/iPhone dock clock.

The full-sized kitchen is outfitted with Ikea cabinetry and fully stocked with cooking utensils. It also has a double porcelain sink, microwave, gas stove, fridge, toaster, coffee maker and pantry.

The bathroom features a vintage cast-iron porcelain tub with shower and porcelain sink.

The walk-in closet has a washer and dryer, saving you from trips to the Laundromat.

The living area has a 32" Toshiba flat-screen LCD TV with integrated DVD player. The TV swivels so that it may be viewed from anywhere in the apartment.

About The Owner

Jenny and Vaughn Grisham have lived in Alpine since 1996. We love the area, and we love helping others enjoy it.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2003
Why The Owner chose Alpine

Vaughn Grisham built Hummingbird Cottage as a guest quarters in 2003. In October, 2010, they updated and furnished the apartment to serve vacation and corporate renters.

Kokernot Park is three blocks east, and features a seasonal pool, children's playground, tennis and basketball courts and skateboard park. Adjacent to the park is historic Kokernot Field, home of the Sul Ross State University Lobos and Big Bend Cowboys baseball teams.

I had a great time. The cottage was perfect. Everything one needs is in the cottage. And, it was nice have a private driveway to park my new mustang.

Alpine is centered among the towns of Marathon, Fort Davis and Marfa. Ideal for sightseeing.

I took my dog to the park every day (3 blocks away). I walked from the cottage to downtown (10 blocks) and shopped; shopped at the small farmers market and walked to the Reata for dinner.

It ended up saving me money because I only ate out twice and I did not need a laundromat.

I'll rent it again if I come back to Alpine. And I would recommend hummingbird cottage to my friends.

A nice little rental for a couple. Very clean and well kept, and has all the necessities for a comfortable stay. We like to cook, and it had a small electric grill, a nicely functional gas stove and oven, and all the basic utensils.
Pros:
Reasonable price; clean; nice kitchen; convenient to driving to Big Bend and all nearby towns; quiet location; nice covered porch.
Cons:
Not close to the restaurants and night life; driveway not made for a Corvette.

Definitely a nice place to stay if you are planning on touring the over-all area.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

The cottage was a perfect place for us to stay during the Viva Big Bend music fest. All we required was a nice, welcoming, clean place to come back to each day and the cottage fit the bill! We hope to be back again next year. Thank you!

Just stayed in Hummingbird cottage July 17-25, Nice little cottage, couldn't have been more perfect. Close downtown, and the park and ballfield. Alpine is a very friendly community. Wireless internet could have been better, but using a cable was fine. Thanks again, for being so nice and accomadating. If any problems arose they were very quick to resolve. Definitly will stay here again , if our son continues to play for the Cowboys...... Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
