A true Parisian, I am a graphic designer who loves to travel abroad and speaks good English.
Elisabeth Coutrot purchased this studio in 2010
I fell in love with this wonderful area. It is a mix of very old Paris and trendy way of living.
'Le Sentier' is the fashion district: small streets and covered 'Passages' with shops of wholesale garments. But also the best choice of shopping, fine restaurants ; you have within walking distance the best of Paris.
Still if you need to take the Metro, Sentier or Bourse are the closest stations, and Chatelet-Les Halles, the point of convergence of the RER (express underground lines that takes you to Versailles castle, CDG Airport, Disneyland…) is 10 minutes'walk.
You will live where all Parisians dream to live !
The studio is small but the ceiling is high, and the 3 windows let the daylight come in generously, so you don't feel like in a small place. The mezzannine allows to have a bed without pulling in and out the sofabed. But if you don't feel like climbing the ladder, the Cinna sofabed will offer you a real comfortable queensize bed.
All is new and thoroughly chosen, from the tea pot to the sheets.
Positives: great location, quiet street, near lots of everything, free WiFi and reasonable price for Paris.
Cons: Expected it to be small and it was, but acceptable. Unfortunately we were told when we got there that there was a severe water leak from an upstairs apartment that ruined this apartment 2 weeks or so before we got there. What we found and experienced for 6 nights was badly peeling paint and plaster, mold growing in the ceiling. Owner tried to make it livable by stapling sheets on the ceiling which did stop plaster from falling on us, but made sleeping in the above alcove impossible. Fortunately the futon was comfortable enough and we were in the studio very little. Would have been more acceptable to be told about the flood ahead of time and given the option to book elsewhere. We are very reasonable folks and are more than willing to rough it, but this was a bit much.
My husband & I stayed at Elisabeth's Rue du Croissant studio for 6 nights, 3 of these our daughter from London joined us. She stayed up in the loft as I was worried about negotiating the ladder in the middle of the night. We slept on the sofa/futon bed - very comfortable. The studio is very small & with 3 large suitcases there wasn't a lot of space left. The studio is very well equipped & clean. It is situated nearby the metro & bus stops. Village Montorgueil is just around the corner & is utterly charming, as is Passage des Panoramas for wonderful eateries. Elisabeth is a lovely friendly hostess - I left a pair of shoes at the studio & she kindly posted them to London for me. I recommend this studio for its proximity to art galleries, eateries & proximity to transport, & its reasonable price & lovely hostess.
Location, location! We had a fabulous stay in Paris and the apartment was great. Clean and comfortable with everything you need at your fingertips. In a quiet street allowing a restful sleep. Elisabeth was very accommodating and even found the bus no for us to return to the train station. The WiFi and free phone calls were a bonus.
The area surrounding the apartment was filled with good restaurants and public transport was conveniently just around the corner. The pictures were just as the the apartment appeared. This place is the best. Highly recommended. Thank you Elisabeth if in Paris in the future will definitely see if the apartment is free.
We loved our stayed in Paris, the location couldn't be better Elisabeth was fantastic!!! So helpful and welcoming she was there on time and had everything ready for us, defintly will stay there again. ;)
Elisabeth was wonderful! We were so appreciative of how willing she was to work with our late arrival. We originally anticipated arriving around 9 pm. However, due to an unforeseen delay with our airline, we did not arrive until well after midnight. We had very limited means of communicating this with Elisabeth, but she willingly waited for us. She was kind and helpful upon our arrival. We were feeling very weary from such a bad day of travel.
The place was every bit as nice as the pictures show. A small, modern bath and kitchen. The shower was great.
The location was wonderful! She left us information about surrounding things to do. The beds were so comfortable! The futon easily opened and closed. We had our teenage son with us, so we put him in the loft after the first night because I didn't want to climb the ladder.
Having outstanding internet and free worldwide calling were wonderful additions.
All around a wonderful studio at a superb price!
I could not have found a better place to stay for my 5 week stint in Paris than this apartment. The price was perfect, the place was charming, and very well located. Elizabeth was fantastic and attentive as well. Highly recommended, and if I ever find myself lucky enough to stay in Paris another 5 weeks, I would absolutely stay here.
