CASA MARIPOSA - TOP OF HILL OVERLOOKING OCEAN AND ISABEL

The island of Vieques is a pleasurable step into the Carribean without 1,000's of cruise ship tourists crawling over everything. The beaches are beautiful, empty and offer beautiful snorkeling and hiking spots.

The house of "Casa Mariposa" is an amazing property that allows you to feel at home in the tropics. The views of the island and surrounding views of San Juan, the old Spanish fort, and the ocean are amazing. The screened dining/sitting room is were you will spend a great deal of time enjoying the breezes and the tree top viewsof island life.

The home comes with everything you could imagine needing. A full kitchen, outstanding appliances, and speciality items are abundant for any cooking style/skill. All the recreation items are provided for sunny days at the beach, snorkeling, kayaking, etc.

The property owner was fantastic in providing local information and suggestions on how to make our trip even more enjoyable. The local property managers live across the street and, when you need it, provide assistance and transportation for pick up and return to the airport / ferry terminal upon your arrival and departure. They are wonderful people and so friendly.

You can't go wrong staying at this property. Enjoyment of the island experience is enhanced by being in a local neighborhood but the views and accomodations ensure a vacation of outstanding memories.

My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary with a wonderful stay at Casa Mariposa. We enjoy traveling to new places and getting a feel of the local culture and Casa Mariposa certainly allowed us to have this experience.

The location of the house was perfect. As many others have recommended we strongly suggest renting a car to get the full benefit of the island. The house was very clean and inviting. We felt like we were living in a tree house! We strongly suggest using the ear plugs (provided) at night as the chickens can be a little noisy.

We loved the island of Viqeues and would certainly recommend staying at Casa Mariposa.

We just got back from our second stay at Casa Mariposa, we love Vieques and I can't imagine staying anywhere else, it's become a big part of the trip for us. This house is not a typical rental, it's beautiful, comfortable and feels like a home. The garden is lush, the view is great and the screened-in dining room is especially gorgeous at sunset. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and there are lots of spices, sugar, salt and pepper, I think each family who stays leaves something for the next. There are snorkels, fins, beach chairs, an umbrella and coolers. The care takers, Aida and Nano, live right across the street and are always available. Vieques is an unspoiled wonder and it's made even better by having such a lovely place to stay. Casa Mariposa is a great value at the price.
