The Hostal El Sol is a beautiful structure dates back to the end of 1700s having been refurbished succesfully during 2006. This cozy fully furnished apartment is located on the first floor, with elegant new furniture and marble floors. All the wooden doors/windows open into an interior patio giving it a colonial look. This apartment has a unique layout; the living room opens to the kitchen and the kitchen opens to a family room which can sleep two people in a sofa bed. On this area you will find a walk-in closet and a bathroom with floors and walls covered with Travertine Marble. On the top of the family room there is a mezzanine that is accessed by a solid wood staircase with a classic Old San Juan look. On this level you will find the bedroom, with a queen size mattress and a seating/reading area. 16 ft ceiling’s, ss appliances, two sofa beds, two Satellite TVs and iPod sound system. Walking distance to the best restaurants & historical sites. Private parking for a nominal fee.

Perfect choice for staying in Old San Juan!

My husband and I just returned from an 8 day stay in Old San Juan. This apartment exceeded our expectations. The location is very convenient to everything and on a very quiet street. The building entrance is very secure and the apartment does not face the street so it is very quiet. It is on the ground floor (easy access) and the shuttered doors and windows open onto the beautiful and private inner patio. Great place to have coffee in the a.m., wine in the evening or just a quiet place to relax after a long day of walking this amazing city. It is clean and modern with every amenity you could ask for. The apartment was perfect. Very beautiful, comfortable and in a great location. The coffee stand at the plaza on Calle San Francisco has the best cafe latte. Plenty of tables and benches surround a beautiful fountain. We met many very nice friendly people there, travellers and locals. The Walgreen's located here was convenient for snacks and basic groceries. They also carry beer, wine and liquor. There is also a secure ATM at the plaza. We ate at El Jibarito, Barrachina, Caficultura, Tropical Taste, Waffle-Era Tea Room, St. Germain and a few others. We basically ate our way through the city and loved it all! The travel information center located at the plaza on Calle San Francisco arranged for a car rental and got the best rate. We rented a car from Target Car Rental. $29 day plus $10 for a GPS and they will pick you up at Plaza De Colon in OSJ. Drove to El Yunque and Loquillo. Ate at the Ceviche Hut at the kiosks on the way to Loquillo. Went to Paseo Pinones, walked along the paseo and tried the local food at the many stands. The Pina Coladas at The Soleil Beach bar were a favorite. Looking forward to going back!

BEST HONEYMOON ACCOMODATIONS EVER!!!

On 2012-10-23 we arrived in Old San Juan for our honey moon late at night (1130ish). Elsa had another tenant in the building, Margarita meet us to let us into the condo and show us around. Margarita had to work in the morning but was happy to welcome us and give us any and all information we requested about Old San Juan. In the morning we awoke to a note under the door with more details about Old San Juan and places to get groceries etc also from Margarita. The condo was so quiet and relaxing. It was very clean and had everything anyone could possibly need including lawn chairs, beach towels, pots and pans, dishes, coffee pot, tea kettle, hair dryer, washer and dryer and any other necessities you can think of... There was information there with cell phones to contact Elsa or Joe should we need anything during our stay. We ended up being stuck in San Juan due to Hurricane Sandy and Elsa offered us the condo to stay in while we waited for flights out. I did contact Elsa on a few occasions during our stay and she always replied promptly and also offered us a ton of information regarding things to do and places to see.
I would recommend this condo for anyone and everyone visiting Old San Juan. The condo is in a very safe neighborhood and everyone is very helpful and friendly.
Thank You to Elsa, Joe and Margarita for everything during our fabulous honeymoon in Old San Juan. We absolutely LOVED everything!!

Perfect place to get away

Joe and Elsa were very helpful, responsive and flexible as we went through the process of renting the apartment. when we arrived we were immediately impressed with the modern features of the apartment (AC in two rooms, kitchen appliances, HD televisions, etc.) The apartment was located conveniently within walking distance to most of what Old San Juan has to offer and the price was better than the hotels we looked at in the area as well. Old San Juan is an incredible vacation destination with great food, historical sites and beautiful surroundings. This apt is a great fit for a couple or a family of four as they have two sofa beds to accommodate children. Couldn't have asked for a better experience and i would recommend this apartment to anyone considering a stay in Old San Juan. They even had beach chairs and towels for us to use and wireless internet as well. I can't think of a single complaint!

Thanks to Joe and Elsa for making our stay so care free.

Awesome apartment

We rented this apartment for a week in January and had a blast. Very clean. Modern appliances. But rustic/historic architecture. Center of Old San Juan. Nice owners. Couldn't ask for better accommodations.

Beautiful apartment, excellent location

The Apartment was beautiful, in an old historical building beautifully renovated. We were four, with two children 11 and 12. The sleeping accommodations were fine, and the two TVs and internet access were much appreciated by the kids in the evenings. The kitchen is small, well appointed with everything needed. Mostly we just made coffee in the mornings as restaurants were within easy walking distance and the prices were very reasonable, and the local cuisine something we wanted explore. The laundry facilities were also in the kitchen and very convenient. The location was perfect in the middle of Old San Juan, close to everything.

The owners, Joe and Elsa were very friendly and helpful. They have beach chairs etc. there in a storage closet in the apartment, as well as umbrellas for the couple of rainy days we had. They were also able to rent us their garage space nearby for our rental car, at a very reasonable price. This is a big deal in Old San Juan because parking on the streets is near impossible. Getting in and out of the old city was very easy. We made trips to the El Yunque Rain Forest and various beaches while we were there. Within the old town walking is the best option and there is plenty to see. We highly recommend this for anyone who wants to stay in old San Juan. This option is much preferable to a hotel in both price and comfort and convenience.
