Eclectic with an awesome view

Since 1996 my sisters and I (6 of us) have made it a priority to get together for a weekend at least once a year. Our brother, the youngest, has joined us in the past few years so we were 7 siblings together. We have stayed at the Sandcastle the past two years and have decided to return again in the fall of 2010 if Wendy and John will have us. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking back to the first time we arrived at the Sandcastle - a crisp autumn day, the colors were vibrant and Wendy was coming down the lane as we drove in. We were warmly greeted and she told us the Sandcastle was all ready for our use. As the weekend progressed, we all took walks exploring the grounds (so many surprises here, there and everywhere!) The house itself has a wonderfully eclectic decor - lots of fun and unusual things to gaze upon!
It's a very comfortable house with a fantastic view of Lake Michigan - the sunsets are truly beyond description. The huge kitchen with a large table, a couch and some chairs at one end is the perfect gathering spot; with windows on 3 sides you almost feel like you are IN the trees. The kitchen also has an island for those who like to cook and have a need to spread out to prepare meals. One aspect we especially liked was, because of the spaciousness, you could be by yourself or choose to be with the "group". The living room was big enough for all 7 of us to sit in and chat, read, knit, work on a jigsaw puzzle...or whatever. There's a big room with a bathroom and beds downstairs - perfect for the kids or a separate family. The upstairs has a lovely master bedroom facing the lake (with it's own bathroom) and two other just as lovely bedrooms with a bathroom in between off the hallway. Outside is a long front porch with a hammock and chairs overlooking a huge lawn ending in a path through the dune grass, then steps down to the fantastic beach - beautiful rocks of all sorts and sizes washed smooth by the waves and, of course, the sand to sit in and soak up the sun!
Needless to say, I would toally recommend the Sandcastle to anyone for an enjoyable, relaxing and fun vacation for all.
