GREAT COTTAGE

  • 4 of 5
We arrived to a clean little cottage that proved to be central to all of our planned excursions. The scene out front and the changing of the tides was beautiful. Enjoyed walking on the red sand when the tide had receded.

LOVELY STAY IN JULY 2013

  • 5 of 5
The excellent - the shed full of soccer ball, bikes, badminton equipment. great for the kids
The great - kitchen supply.
The good - tv with family friendly videos and dvds for quiet evenings and rainy days.
Would love it if you added laundry - but can get by with a trip to summerside for laundry.

Would definitely look at booking again some day.

GREAT LOCATION, VERY CLEAN AND GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL! WOULD STAY AGAIN!!

  • 4 of 5
We stayed at this Cottage last week and had an Amazing time! The Ocean view from this Cottage is simply breathtaking and the property is big and perfect for children to run around and play.

This cottage is located only minutes away from the Confederation bridge which was really nice and that also means that you can make it to the Gateway Village boardwalk for some Tim Horton's or for some Cow's ice cream anytime you want, our oldest daughter definitely loved this! lol.

The cottage was extremely clean, the bedrooms are big and there were so many extras (abundant amount of towels, stocked with toilet paper instead of just having 2 or 3 rolls and then having to buy your own, it had coffee, mosquito repellant, sand bucket for the kids etc) that we've never found at any other cottage we've stayed at in PEI so this was very nice!

There was only one thing that was a bit disappointing which was the beach. There was only a few feet of dry sand since when the tide is high, the water gets very close so most of the beach area is wet sand. We did go out on the beach the first day we were there and the tides were low so we walked a few hundred feet and found a nice spot. Only problem was when you reached the water, it was full of little crabs so not safe for the children. This could be due to the fact that the tide was so low so we were pretty far out.
We then returned to the dry sand area but since it was so close to the tall grass on the property, it was just full of bugs so we couldn't stay. I'm thinking if this tall grass was cut then we probably would have been able to enjoy that little part of dry sand and build sandcastles and such with the kids. Also, when the tide was high, the water at the edge looked too deep for the kids to play in and it didn't leave much of a beach. We ended up finding a beach on the same street of the cottage but this was towards the end of our stay so we didn't get a chance to use it or really check it out to.

Like I said in my title, this was such a great cottage, great location and gorgeous views that we would totally go there again. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cottage. We truly had a great time!

Owner's Response: We are happy that you enjoyed the cottage but not so much the beach. I would love to cut the tall grass but we were told we were not allowed but I am going to check more into that.
Thanks you

COZY COTTAGE FACING SULFUR SMELLING VIEW

  • 3 of 5
The cottage itself is cozy and remote. Unfortunately the beach is not useable and the smell of rotten eggs emitting from it when you open your window is mind blowing. The marsh is your neighbour and no matter how much bug repellant you put on be ready for major bug bites while running to the wet quicksand like low tide beach that makes you feel like you just went through a cow field after rain. There is a large array of movies in the place so if it rains you will not know about that because there is no satellite and or cable. At the price they ask for this place, cable should be included with wifi but we were told the price would be much higher. Summerside is 20 minutes away and Charlottetown is 55 minutes, (not 40 as indicated for the tourists). Next time will stay at a motel for 1/2 the price with all the ameneties (kitchen, cable, wifi, pool) and a short drive to useable ocean scented beach.

Owner's Response: In the years of renting our cottage, we have never received a complaint. The smell you refer to is Mother Nature's perfume. The beach is usable for clam digging, swimming, building sand castles, etc. As for the mosquitoes, our association sprays all summer and an effective repellent would have helped. We have never advertised our cottage as a hotel with full amenities, i.e. WIFI, cable(not available in our area) satellite or room service. What we offer is a clean cozy cottage with direct access to a quiet beach with an amazing view.

WARM AND INVITING

  • 5 of 5
If you have taken the time to read the wonderful reviews before this, they have pretty much summed it up. Traveling with our boys, it was the great destination after a long drive to let them just enjoy their time running around. The cottage is at the end of the road on a large lot providing privacy and room to play outside.

It is wonderfully placed should you want to do some sight seeing and very close to the start of the Confederation Bike Trail.

After returning back to the cottage, from a day out seeing the sights, all of the necessary creature comforts of home allow you to make a wonderful dinner and enjoy the evening with loved ones.

Go for a visit, it is well worth it.
