We were happy every day!
We had the pleasure of staying at Golden Cottage for a week over Memorial Day and we were happy every day. The ocean views from the windows and the decks are stunning and hypnotic. The house has every modern comfort and appliance you could wish for, and was extremely clean and well cared for. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and the linens very nice.The cottage itself is in Pigeon Cove which we love, and to me it is in the most beautiful part of town. The shower/sauna is to die for and out 13 year old grandson took two each day! The back yard is splendid for whiffle and bocce ball. The house and surroundings exceeded all our expectations, and the owner had described and advertised it very accurately and honestly. Our Verizon cell connectivity was not quite dependable, altho texting seemed to usually work. The Goldens have a Landline for use and the cell phones worked well when we were closer to town. One guest had an ATT cell which always seemed to work. The wireless had to be rebooted with some frequency, but it always came back to life. We had some rain and wind while there and I don't know if maybe that obstructed Internet access. We were a very Internet dependent group which is the only reason I mention this at all. Nonetheless, nothing could detract from the sublime beauty of Golden cottage. All of Cape Ann is worth exploring and we enjoyed the scenic drive described in a binder we found in the house. We had lobster many times at Roy Moore's Fish Shack in Rockport, a great favorite of ours. The Hammond Castle in Gloucester is well worth checking out. And you may want to read Gunilla Caulfield's murder mysteries while you are there. She is a charming local author and each mystery takes place in the area and is full of local color and detail. I loved all three. So in conclusion, we had a magical stay and would return in a heartbeat.
