I am a bit of a jack of all trades. I am attending graduate school in neuroscience but have worked for a while as a general contractor.

Sage Aronson purchased this cabin in 1999

Our family built this house in 1999 after falling in love with the area and the people of Downeast Maine. I've gone up every year since!

The lobster is great and, if I happen to be up while you rent the house, I love taking folks out to haul traps (we have 15 in the coves around the cabin). Also, as a cyclist, the scenic Maine roads are some of the best.

BEAUTIFUL CABIN AND ATTENTIVE OWNERS

  • 5 of 5
I've stayed at this cabin on several occasions, and have come away impressed each time. Despite being in the middle of a small community where everyone seems to know everyone else (and even those residents who travel elsewhere in the winter always seem to come back each summer!), the property is secluded enough that one might never see any of its closest neighbors.

It is within an hour or two drive of most of the major tourism attractions in Downeast Maine (e.g. Mount Desert Island, Winter Harbor, etc.), but I never wanted to leave the area during any of my stays!

The cabin itself is beautiful and remains in excellent condition. The kitchen is well stocked, the bathroom is beautiful (as is the outside shower!), and there is ample room to sleep a multitude of guests.

Most importantly, the Aronsons were considerate and unimposing hosts who stayed nearby, and were available to address any and all of our concerns. They took us out lobstering, hiking, and showed us the best places to eat in the area. I definitely hope to return soon!

SPECTACULAR MAINE VACATION

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed a stellar Maine week at this cabin. The cabin was quiet, comfortable, well-maintained and obviously manged with loving attention. We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets, birdwatching, and proximity to wilderness and historic ports. The owners were attentive, well informed and generous. Kayaking, hiking, star gazing, delicious lobster, clams and mussels. Friendly community. Thanks for an unforgettable vacation! We will return!

PEACEFUL GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful spot to get away from the craziness of the everyday. The cabin was rustic-ish and comfortable, yet had all the conveniences. The outdoor shower was all it was built up to be. We ate in every day (the gas propane tank was empty - only complaint) and enjoyed the lobster cooker. Not alot of choice if you want to dine out, only take-out in the immediate vicinity. Puzzles and reading in the evening. Hiking and exploring the region in the daytime. Enjoyed a cruise in the bay with Laura Fish. We enjoyed the quietness of the cabin, the island and the natural beauty of the region.

Sage was great in responding to all my inquiries. I would highly recommend this property to those looking for serenity and nature. We hope to return in a couple of years.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! It is true there isn't much in the way of restaurants until you go to Machias or Elsworth -- but the local seafood, meat, and produce is so great, I hardly ever go out when I'm up there too.

PEACE AND QUIET WITH A VIEW

  • 5 of 5
I was looking for a quiet place on the water and I found it. If we hadn't gone exploring by car a few times, we wouldn't have seen another soul. This area is definitely away from the tourist centers on the coast. The cabin was comfortable and the views unmatched, especially at sunset. The ladders to the lofts were a bit steep for us but there was plenty of room downstairs. The owners were responsive to our needs during our stay (the propane tank needed to be refilled). The wireless internet worked very well and the outdoor shower was fun. The weather was clear and warm 5 days out of 7. We hiked the Little Cape Point trail in the wildlife preserve and made day trips up and down Rt. 1. There's a well-stocked grocery store in Jonesport and a wonderful bakery in Addison (Bohemian Mama's). It was a delightful and relaxing week.

VACATION

  • 4 of 5
we were excited to come here as it was our first trip to maine. We were a little disappointed in the weather but made the best of it, The beaches were nice and we really enjoyed the fire pit. was a little disappointed that there were no cayaks and no wi-fi as advertised with the weather being crumby it would have been nice to have inter-net service. also the micro-wave was not working. we found alot of shells and creatures on the beach that my boys were excited about. the water was very cold even with wet suits so if you want to swim be for- warned its icy! all in all it was nice, the lobster was great. the house is a very open floor plan so you can hear everything going on with everyone. the cabin was nice and very out of the way. If you want a secluded get away with nice views and hiking this is the place for you.

Owner's Response: August does tend to be pretty foggy - though it clears up when the winds shift in the fall. We were worried that someone had run off with our kayaks -- but, it turns out, a friend had "borrowed" them and forgot to mention this fact to us. They are now back safe and sound at the house. Unfortunately, you guys were up there when we were transitioning from one internet provider to the other -- I was disappointing in the new company's service and am very sorry that it wasn't functional as advertised. It is up and running now (my dad was up there last week). Glad you guys enjoyed the lobster and props for venturing into the chilly Maine water!

BEAUTIFUL PLACE

  • 5 of 5
My father grew up in Jonesport so we were looking for a place nearby so that we could visit family. This being my first experience renting online I was a little nervous. After arriving at the property we were sure we made the right decision where to stay. The location is fantastic. We loved being right on the water. It is nice and quiet yet not far from town. The cabin itself is lovely as well with an open floor plan. The kitchen is easy to cook in, great long dining table, plenty of games for a rainy day,and and a firepit on the rocky shore. I would reccomend this place for anyone who's looking for a quiet coastal maine getaway.

P.S. The "Little Cape Point" hiking trail is a must if you are in the area.
