Photos and Description of the Seebert vacation bungalow rental
Modern Riverfront Camp/Bunalow on the Greenbrier 2 Bedrooms + 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Our unique property and location are the reasons we moved to Seebert, W.V. from the N.C. coast. We are located on the banks of the Greenbrier River and are only minutes away to the 79 mile long Greenbrier River Trail, a basically flat rail trail. The trail allows bikes, horses, and walking, but no motorized vehicles. There's lots of wildlife and beauty to enjoy! We are near Mile Post 45 so you can explore from the middle. If you're into biking, an 11 mile trip will take you to the town of Marlinton, where a good lunch can be had and you can work it off on the trip home! If you're into birding....this is the spot! The town of Hillsboro is home to the Pearl S. Buck Museum which is very interesting! Droop Mountain Battlefied State Park is only a few miles away for those Civil War buffs. Pocahontas County has the best roads, so bring your motorcycle for that smooth ride! I tell folks that our back yard is 10,000 acres, which is Watoga State Park and our front yard is the river!

Why the Owner Chose Seebert: The Greenbrier River Trail brought us to Seebert WV and to Watoga State Park. Once we biked the trail and kayaked the Greenbrier river, we were sold on Pocahontas County and this area!

My husband was a boat builder and owner of Masonboro Boat Yard for 40 years. He came here to retire, but... retirement didn't suit him at all, so, our home and Guest Quarters became his project. I think you'll love his creation ON THE RIVER. Your yard has a wonderful firepit (and room for outdoor games), and access to the river. Bring your floats, boats, or bikes and enjoy the location. (or rent them at Jack Horner's). What gives us the most pleasure, is offering a place where folks can truly relax, and THIS IS THAT SPOT! It's ALL right here! So, book your vacation here in Seebert and Pocahontas County! The state's slogan, 'Wild & Wonderful' says it all.......COME SEE FOR YOURSELF!

The Unique Benefits of this Riverfront Camp: The rail trail and the river are almost more than a person could ask for in one location. The beauty of the area is awesome and the freedom to ride for miles, sit in the river, or by the fire, is enough to make any vacation worth the trip. Our place provides comfort while in the Wild & Wonderful and gives you all of the conveniences you need while here. Feel free to come and go from your private entrance and enjoy LIFE ON THE RIVER! For Winter Lovers, come and hike in Watoga State park or cross country ski the Greenbrier River Trail or one of the many trails in Cranberry Wilderness Area. Enjoy the serenity of Winter in Pocahontas County.....AND THE ADVENTURE!

BIKE IN & OUT OR HIKE IN & OUT: WE ACCEPT ONE NIGHT RENTALS IN OUR GUEST QUARTERS FOR THOSE HIKING OR BIKING THE TRAIL.(there is an additional linen/towel fee)

GET COMFORTABLE FOR THE EVENING AND BE READY FOR YOUR NEXT DAY ON THE TRAIL!

Bundle up and come on for your Winter Adventure!

Bicyclist Friendly

5 of 5
Submitted: May 17, 2013 Stayed: May 2013
The Guest Quarters is a great place to stay while riding the Greenbrier River Trail. It is clean, comfortable and well stocked with all the cooking and cleaning supplies you might need, right down to the wine glasses and corkscrew. Jonelle even offers towel and linen service for bicyclists riding the trail unsupported. The accomodations are exactly as pictured in the recent photos on this website. Very, very clean - no musty cabin odor here. The mattresses are comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen fixtures are modern, as are the kitchen appliances. The large, clean, modern shower stall has a full-power showerhead and plenty of hot water. The windows are new with full screens. Cieling fans in every room offer great air flow and central heat and a gas fireplace make cooler nights cozy. Very comfortable!

Now for the view - riverfront, right off the front porch. For a closer view, there is a little outbuilding with a small deck over the water. Plently of chairs are provided - on the front porch, on the deck, and around the fire ring in the side yard (firewood provided). Even the living room offers a river view through 3 large side-by-side windows.

Jonelle was professional and helpful in my trip planning. She fielded questions, offered suggestions and was great all around to deal with - even when our plans changed slightly as our trip neared, Jonelle was very accomodating.

For those of you considering riding the GRT - do it! It's a beautiful ride. If unsupported riding isn't for you, consider staying 2 or 3 nights at the Guest Quarters and hiring Jack Horner's Corner store to shuttle you to the north end one day and the south end the second day. The trail is essentially flat, so riding back to Seebert through the beautiful countryside is a beautiful way to spend your weekend.

I can't say enough about the Guest Quarters. Don't hesitate to book this property. It is everything it advertises itself to be and more - at a reasonable price.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an informative review!! I am glad I was able to assist in making your biking trip a good one and hope you'll be able to return for more time on the trail and in the river! It gives us pleasure to know our customers are satisfied.

Family Dream

5 of 5
Submitted: June 10, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
This is beautiful place overlooking the Greenbrier river, very easy access. We arrived with our entire family, including my husband myself our children their spouses, and our grandchild. This is a great place for all ages. The home is very clean which is very very important to me. Jonelle and her husband had everything ready and waiting for us, not only inside, but even chairs upon arriving beside of the fire pit. I would highly recommend this property if you would love to relax or if you want to kayak in the river or even fish as we did including our 6 yr. old grandchild, and by the way she caught the most fish. Also there is a very convenient store straight across the river which rents floats, kayaks, tubes, and even has groceries. We all enjoyed this place wonderful food and icecream, tee shirts, and talking to the locals. We would love to be able to return and have a longer stay. The owners of the property are very kind and some of the nicest people you would ever meet. It was a family dream to have all our family together, and be able to have so many activities or just to be able to kick back, and relax.
Owner's Response: We are so happy that your dream of a Family Vacation came true and it was enjoyed at The Guest Quarters. You found and enjoyed many of the things that we love about Seebert and we are always so glad when folks can leave a vacation RELAXED!!! We look foward to your return and hope you CAN make it a longer stay! Jonelle & Ed

WV Vacation

5 of 5
Submitted: September 21, 2011 Stayed: September 2011
This is our 10th year of vacationing in WV, and we have found our perfect place to stay. It's all about location, location, location, and this IS the location. We enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing, and this location puts us right in the middle of it all -- Watoga State Park (hiking), Greenbrier River Trail (biking), Greenbrier River (fishing). Also provided are great accommodations and great hosts.

Here are a few things we particularly enjoyed about The Guest Quarters: great drinking water right out of the tap, very comfortable living room furniture, great appliances, plenty of lights for whatever your task may be, satellite TVs (there were 2), movie channels, internet access, well-stocked bathroom & kitchen. The place was spotless when we arrived, and the property is very well-maintained.

As mentioned above, our hosts were great. Ed and Jonelle were friendly, attentive, informative, yet very unobtrusive. It was pretty much a perfect blend.

We had a BLAST(!), and are hoping to visit The Guest Quarters again next year.

Couldn't ask for better

Couldn't ask for better

I came upon this place after foot trouble forced me to bail out of a hike of the Greenbrier River Trail. Of all the places to bail, I couldn't have been luckier than the town of Seebert and this rental. Owner Ed was kind enough to give me a ride from Jack Horner's Corner, across the river, to the rental. (Jack Horner's Corner runs a trail shuttle service, and the store staff/owners are also very nice.)

Ed and Jonelle are very friendly and gracious owners: available, but unintrusive. They also have a big, friendly but also not intrusive dog on the property that you might be able to pet.

The quarters themselves are great. They're attached to the Lowes' house, but are separated, and might as well form their own small building. They're very clean, bright and cozy, with plenty of comfortable furniture, linens and kitchen appliances. You can see the river out of a big picture window in the living room, but the place also stayed very cool near the end of July. If you only brought food and clothes, you'd still have a very comfortable stay here. The Greenbrier River Trail and Watoga State Park are obviously very close by, but if you need or want to spend time inside, there's plenty of entertainment: books, games and abundant satellite TV in two rooms.

Sitting in the skeeter hut overlooking the river is a very relaxing experience. The lawn, fire ring and river access also looked inviting but I didn't take advantage of them the one night I stayed.

Bottom line is: the rental and the owners are awesome. I recommend this place highly, and I myself can't wait to come back in better walking condition!

Owner's Response: You have just made our day with your kind words! PLEASE return when you have the time to experience the WHOLE adventure of staying in The Guest Quarters and in Seebert! The fire pit offers up some delicious meals and afterwards, just sit and enjoy the fire! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! Jonelle & Ed AND.....Buddy
