The thing folks seem to like best about this property is its LOCATION and character. That is why we are hoping you will opt for The Guest Quarters, listing #324599, now that Jeffs Place has sold. We truly appreciate all of our wonderful customers who enjoyed this camp over the last 5 years! THANK YOU! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call.

I came here to bike the Greenbrier River Trail and fell in love with Seebert W.V. When you get here.....you'll understand why!
Jonelle D. Lowe purchased this cabin in 2009
The location of being RIGHT ON THE RIVER and convenient to the Seebert Trailhead for biking....it's JUST PERFECT! We have travelled all over the country and THIS IS THE SPOT!
To be able to bike on a flat trail in the mountains is very unique. This rail trail was inducted into the Rail Trail Hall of Fame in 2012 because it's so wonderful and well maintained. For 79 miles, one can ride along the river and view scenery that will take your breath away.
The cabin and its location were just perfect. We could not have asked for more. Thank you.
The cabin and its location were just perfect. We couldn't have asked for more.
We had a wonderful, long fall weekend here! The house is a perfect mixture of modern convenience couple with 1950s nostalgia. Since the weekend was somewhat rainy, we spent plenty of cozy hours enjoying the fire and the beautiful view of the river. We had a couple of great hikes in Watoga, explored the Cranberry Bogs, lunched at the Greenbrier Reseort and of course, biked that gorgeous trail. The village of Seebert is filled with the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I can totally understand why people come here to visit and then never leave. I was here with my mom and aunt, but I am already planning a trip back with a friend and our daughters for the spring. Thank you Jonelle and Ed!
We couldn't ask for more. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need and more. The setting was perfect - right on the river and close to the Greenbrier Trail. We had a great time. The price was fair and the owners were very, very nice. I would definitely stay there again.
My 88 year-old Mother and I stayed here for a long weekend in September. Jeff's place is just as advertised.....The cabin was immaculate and ready for us when we arrived on Saturday. All the ammenities were in order. Wisely, we brought a "food box" and cooler with our favorite foods ready to enjoy. That saved the ride into Marlinton for groceries. ( Jack Horner's Corner had limited food choices, but we were there at a very quiet time. ) Marlinton isn't very far and became our hub for day trips as we explored the area. We had a wonderful tour at Pearl Buck's home place in nearby Hillsboro, enjoyed the wildlife in Watoga State Park, and rode up to Snowshoe, Cass and Green Bank.
The bathroom easily accomodated a shower chair for my Mom and the tub seems extra long.. NICE.... Hot water galor and a very efficient bath fan!!
Fire wood was provided and fire in the wood stove was a great way to end the day. Since it was a bit damp, we did end up using the fire starters purchased at Jack Horner's.
The cabin only requires a couple steps up and is on one floor, so my mom easily got around and abandoned her walker while inside!!. Having two bedrooms was nice and the beds were very comfortable.
Jonelle and Ed provided great customer service and I would definitely make a return trip.
I've never taken a more relaxing vacation than the trip we took to Seebert/Marlinton last year. We've done the theme park trips like Disney World - they're fun, but expensive and exhausting. Beach trips are nice, but the beaches are so crowded in most places that it just isn't relaxing. Five minutes after arriving at Jeff's Place, we felt like we had already been on vacation for a week. Peaceful and relaxing don't even begin to do the place justice.
The location is awesome. You get all the peace and privacy of being in the middle of nowhere, without actually having to be in the middle of nowhere. The cabin is in a fairly private location, but it isn't like you are in the middle of the woods with nothing around. There is a store right across the river from the cabin - a ten minute walk on the roadside, or a two minute walks across the river if you don't mind getting your feet wet. The store sells the basics: camping supplies, souvenirs, various grocery and household staple items, bait, and it has a pizza shop.
If you like nature, it is literally right outside your door. As we were unloading our bags from the car, I heard a shriek and looked up just in time to see a hawk snatching up a chimpunk for dinner about fifteen feet from me. Looking out over the river in the morning and evenings, you will see heron, ducks, turtles, and other animals wandering by.
The cabin itself is perfect. On demand hot water. A very nice and well supplied kitchen with pretty much all the pots, pans, utensils and whatnot that you will ever need. Comfortable beds. The living room has a nice TV wtih DirecTV and a dvd player... and what is possibly the worlds most efficient woodstove. We went in the fall when temps outside were getting into the mid 40s at night, and we had to have the windows and doors open with even a small fire going because it would heat the cabin up to over 80 degrees with them closed. All in all, Jeffs Place may be called a "cabin", but it boasts nicer atmosphere and better features than most high end hotels.
Be sure to check out the town of Marlinton close by for restaurants, things to do, and, during the late spring, summer, and early fall, be sure to check out the farmers market. The produce is great quality and ridiculously cheap. There are usually also local farmers selling top quality meat for way less than grocery store prices, and for much better quality.
You owe it to yourself to take a vacation like this at least once.
There are lots of places to enjoy while here like, Beartown State Park, Droop Battleground State Park, Cranberry Glades & Nature Center, Monongahela Nat'l Forest, Pearl S. Buck Birthplace in Hillsboro, Snowshoe Mountain, and especially the Greenbrier River Trail, a basically flat rail trail that runs for 79 miles. (no motorized vehicles) . Cass Scenic Railway State Park offer rides for train buffs or anyone who wants a train ride into the wilderness. The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is very interesting. Activities like floating in the river on tubes, in kayaks, or canoes is always relaxing, along with walks on the trail for birding. Watoga State Park has many hiking trails & a swimming pool and there's Jack Horner's Corner, nearby in Seebert, who sells everything from beer to bait, plus, rents boats and bikes, and provides shuttles for both. There's so much to see and do in Pocohontas County, just come and try them all, or just sit and relax by the river.
Other Activities: birding, motorcycling, civil war sites, caves, kayaking, canoeing, or floating!
Cranberry Glades is only a few minutes away with MILES of hiking trails
