Sean has lived in Vermont and Massachusetts his whole life, and Susan is just settling into the Northeast after growing up in Georgia and Maryland. We love to get outdoors and explore the natural places all around us. We decided owning this gem of a house in Andover, VT, would make that possible for us and for lots of our guests.

Sean Effel purchased this house in 2010

Fresh air, woods, and quiet are very important but it's hard to get the 'away from it all' experience in a busy town or at the side of a ski slope. This property has all the things we like about being on vacation, but without all the traffic and neighbors.

If you want quiet and seclusion, this is the property for you. The nearest neighbors are hundreds of yards through the dense woods, the house is not visible from the road, there is no cell phone service. And on top of this, you can be in town for groceries, restaurants, even skiing, within a short few minutes in a car.

The pictures of this house doesn't do it justice. We spent our 25th wedding anniversary here and it was fabulous! Fall is my favorite season and the view was spectacular!! No cell phone reception, but free wifi :) Sean was very helpful, make sure if you want to know about places to go to or have any questions don't hesitate to call him. Sean made sure we made it in safely and that we were enjoying our stay. I recommend you go see the Quechee Gorge!! Thanks for an amazing vacation Sean, hope to come back next year. How's the baby doing? God bless you and your family :)
Owner's Response: We're really glad you guys enjoyed your stay. Come back any time!

Best Family Vacation Ever

This house is the perfect place for a family vacation. We snowboarded daily at Bromley, ate at amazing nearby restaurants and sled down our very own sledding hill in the yard. At night, we would sit by the fireplace, play board games, play Rock Band, and just relax. We all agree that this was our best family vacation ever and we've been to Disney. It was relaxing and fun. Sean, the owner called and checked on our arrival and wanted to make sure we were comfortable and if we had any questions. The house was spotless and inviting. We are already planning on renting this house again next spring.
Owner's Response: I'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. But seriously, better than Disney? Thanks for the kind words! -Sean

Our family of 4 enjoyed a great weekend at this charming VT home. Their was tons of snow for sleigh riding in the lawn. We skied at Okemo and Bromley and snowmobiled on the nearby trails. The home has a lovely interior with a great wood burning stove. Sean was a pleasure to work with and they clearly care about making their guests feel at home when they visit. We will be back!

wonderful week of skiing

This place is absolutely one of the best houses that we have rented. My wife, 2 kids and I spent a fantastic week of skiing and exploring the area over the holiday season. This warm, very comfortable and newly renovated house is quite secluded and sits on a scenic, spacious property that is close (~20 min.) to Okemo Ski Resort. I honestly can not find any negative points about this place. In addition, Sean and Susan are quite accommodating and completely available to field questions. I highly recommend this house - we will definitely be coming back again - maybe to explore the area during another season.
Owner's Response: We'll be glad to have you back anytime, guys. - Sean

Lovely and Relaxing

We had a wonderful summer vacation in this lovely home. The screened-in porch, open kitchen, and sunroom filled with cozy couches were all perfect for relaxing—not easy to do with a 2 ½ year old!

There was plenty of space to play right on the property (our son loved climbing the rocks) but in 15 - 30 minutes there were lots of activities: bakeries, icecream stands, restaurants (loved the Stone Hearth Inn), nature trails and swimming. Chester had an amazing playground at the elementary school, and we discovered a great indoor playspace above the Moon Dog Café in Chester filled with toys and open to the public for a small donation. On a rainy day we ventured an hour to the Montshire Science Museum near the NH border, well worth the trip (they have a great outdoor water park).

The blueberries in the yard were at their peak and we ate our fill! Yum! And our son experienced the joy of toasting and eating marshmallows thanks to the great fire pit. Scott and Susan clearly take care of the house and property. It’s always risky renting a house sight-unseen (aside from the photos) but we couldn’t have been happier with this one. We’ve been looking for a house that we could rent year after year and this might just be the one.
Owner's Response: Hi Kate! Thanks for the glowing comments, we're really glad you enjoyed yourselves. Best, Sean "Scott" E. :)
