This historic home was built in the days of sailing ships, near the historic commercial harbor (now the Old Stone Dock and Surf Drive beach). Expanded throughout the years, and updated/ renovated in 2004/2010/2013, the house was completely refurnished by new owners in 2010. One first floor suite accommodates older guests, with a half bath and 1 queen bed. Two steep staircases lead to a rambling second level with 3 full baths and 6 more bedrooms (eleven twin beds). Two bedrooms share a balcony with spiral stair to new patio below, five have excellent views of the ocean and Martha's Vineyard. Small 'maid's room' over laundry and kitchen also enjoys water views, to keep your guest (or staff) happy! The first floor has a mud room/ laundry, eat-in chef's kitchen, covered porch, patio with large gas grill, large dining room with antique farm table for 12, large sun room with television, traditional front living room, and small private lawn and gardens. Surf Drive beach, with snack bar and bathrooms, is a very short walk down Shore Street (see photos and map).
A perfect location for exploring Falmouth on foot (we're on the Falmouth Road Race route) or by car, with easy access to Surf Drive, Main Street dining and shopping, Falmouth Harbor (and ferries), Shining Sea Bike Path, and Woods Hole. In addition to the Surf Drive beach and bath house just steps from our door, Falmouth offers beaches on Buzzards Bay, Vineyard Sound, and Nantucket Sound, as well as several different harbors and shopping/dining districts. Bicycling, sport fishing, marinas and yacht services, museums, shopping, dining, and all without leaving town! But of course the rest of Cape Cod is within a short day trip from this location, and 3 nearby ferry services provide easy access to Martha's Vineyard.

About Gerald Hiam
With family roots on Cape Cod, but no remaining family property, my wife and I purchased the home four years ago. Since that time we have enjoyed restoring and improving the house, and sharing it with our immediate and extended families. Our rental season is short (usually three weeks in August), and we enjoy sharing the experience of a traditional family home with our tenants.
Why Gerald Hiam chose Falmouth
As an experienced home builder, designer, and restorer, I suggested looking at newer houses in the area... Luckily my wife spotted this beautiful antique home and ignored all practical objections!
What makes this house unique
Although we fell in love with the traditional design of the home, it's really the location and views that make for a great vacation experience.
