Beautiful place to spend Christmas

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I took our son to Aspen View for his first Christmas along with his grandparents. The property worked out really well for us, it's a lovely home with great views of Mt Bross and Mt Lincoln from the back deck.

The whole place was beautifully finished and with really good attention to detail. The heated floors were especially nice given the rather wintery weather outside and Brian arranged to have the driveway ploughed when the heaviest snow hit.

Despite being pretty close to Breck and Alma we ended up bringing up nearly everything we needed for the week. The kitchen was pretty well equipped for cooking a Christmas dinner for 6, and the beds and bathrooms were very comfortable.

The only thing we really wished we'd brought was a baby gate to put at the top of the rather steep flight of stairs leading down from the main living area. We ended up keeping it barricaded with our pack and play which worked just fine, but it's worth bearing in mind if you have a little one.

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of spending a weekend at Aspen View and it was wonderful. This log cabin is the real deal. I was blown away by the evident craftsmanship that went in to the construction. The views from the deck left us speechless. I only wish I had more time to enjoy this spot.

Perfect family reunion weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect Thanksgiving weekend with our adult children and their spouses. We were close to the ski resorts and there was a short hike to the reservoir if we wanted to be outdoors. The view from the main room was stunning. The stars at night were wonderful. It was everything they stated in their descriptions. The owners were easy to work with. I would choose this spot in a heart beat again. Thanks for sharing your lovely home!

A Great Weekend at Aspen View!

  • 4 of 5

Aspen View was a very beautiful spot to spend a weekend with our friends. Lovely house, great deck, great views, not to mention the added bonus of the soothing sounds of the babbling brook running next to the house and the great sunroom where we enjoyed our morning coffee each day. The location was good for our purposes of relaxing while enjoying the Colorado mountain surroundings. We took it easy and elected to do some auto tours rather than much hiking while we were there … and we enjoyed learning more about the mining history of the area. We downloaded from the internet the auto tour map of Buckskin Gulch, that lists details on the numbered stops along the way. We also took the auto tour partway up Mosquito Pass (too rough and narrow beyond signpost #5!). Also, on the way home we stopped at South Park City in Fairplay, and were treated to a little taste of what it may have like to live here WAY back then. It SURE did make us appreciate more the luxuries of our stay at Brian and Mary’s beautiful house above Alma!!! We will definitely be back!

Grandparents, Children and Grandchildren

  • 5 of 5

I just read the detailed review from "Grandparents and Grandchildren" so I will add only a few comments. Our family also had a wonderful time in the cabin that was prepared for a visit by "friends"- it was so well equipped and clean. We enjoyed: hiking (the wild flowers were out), fishing (by the dam the fish were not large but the kids caught many), dinner on the deck and board-games on the large kitchen table. There were several little trips into Fairplay and Breckenridge which are nearby. Brian and Mary were very helpful and accommodating. We were very happy to be their guests.

Grandparents and grandchildren

  • 5 of 5

This home was beyond our expectations. We had the priviledge of staying here for 10 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The cabin is very private and quiet but easy to find and close to the highway. You can tell it was built and has been kept with loving care. It was very clean and spacious to share with our teenage grandson and his younger sister. They each had their own room and each were able to have their own bathroom as well. They also enjoyed access to the wi-fi/ The photos that you see on the listing for this home are completely accurate.

No need to pack a lot of extras. Their was soap for the laundry, toiletries and paper goods for all the bathrooms, as well as hair dryers. The kitchen had a wide variety of spices and plenty of trash bags, paper towels and other supplies.

The living room was very comfortable for the 4 of us and would easily hold more. The balcony with table and chairs, lounge chairs and grill was used a lot by us. Our favorite room was the sunroom. What beautiful views, a good talking area while other people are watching TV in the living room. The hammock was also very popular.

We saw a lot of wildlife. Squirrels had taken up residence in the birdhouse and they were halarious to watch. Chipmunks kept busy storing our peanuts and there were birds everywhere. Also were quite a few dear and a fox greeted us one morning.

We called the owners a couple of times during our stay with questions and they were very gracious in helping us solve our problems

What can you do from this location? Everything. We had easy access to jeeping trails, rafting, zip lines, fishing and horseback riding. Breckenridge is very close. Alma and Fairplay had a lot of interesting things to offer and a well stocked grocery store.

We will definitely be visiting this property again when we are in Colorado.
