Now renting 2013 season!
We purchased this property in 1981 as a safe-camp getaway. We're retired school teachers who knew our traveling abilities would shorten over the years, so this cottage is our own home away from home. It is loaded with all the basic comfort supplies, which are now yours to enjoy.
Maureen Riester purchased this house in 1981
This property captures every realtor's feature for the ideal property on the lake. Only a few miles to Auburn - History's Hometown, with historically significant places, theaters, fine dining, shopping, and entertainment for all ages.
The cottage is a wonderful place to share with friends and family (including 4 legged family members). There is lots of space indoors and out for small groupings.
The east side of Owasco Lake is the best, in our opinion, because you get to see the sun set over the lake. Thanks to some well-placed landscaping, the cottage offers lots of privacy. Tall cedar trees on both sides create a green shield and frame the view of the lake for a postcard perfect picture!
Cathedral ceilings with 200 year old hand hewn beams, antiques and artwork are throughout the cottage, so even on rainy days there is plenty to discover indoors!
We encourage small families or couples who know that the peacefulness of paradise is priceless. We invite you to share our treasured 'pride and pleasure'.
Your home away from home on scenic Owasco Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes!
Tour historical sites in the area: Cayuga Museum & Case Research Lab, Harriet Tubman Home, Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, Seward House, Willard Memorial Chapel (designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany), Ward O'Hara Agricultural Museum, and Fort Hill Cemetery. Watch a play at the Merry-Go-Round Theater (Broadway in the Finger Lakes), taste the Rieslings on the Finger Lakes wine trails, hike through the National Parks, shop in Ithaca Commons or the quaint shops of Skaneateles and experience the beautiful scenery and sunsets of the Finger Lakes.
Bring your boat/kayak/canoe/paddle board and fish, ski, swim, or float on Owasco Lake! If you don't have one, rent one at Emerson Park from www.owascopaddles.com.
Wine Tastings are plentiful along the Finger Lakes shores. Take a leisurely drive to sample Rieslings, Cabernet Francs, and stock up on Finger Lakes wines!
Or just sit by the lake, sip a glass of wine, read a book, listen to the waves on the beach and watch the colors of the sky change as the sun sets over the west side of the lake.
