THE CHESTNUT CABIN LUXURY CABIN RENTAL

Fayetteville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Arguably the nicest log home rental opportunity in the New River Gorge area. There is unique privacy for guests as the cabin is on 45 acres located just off the intersection of Rt. 19 and Rt. 60. There are outstanding views from the hiking paths with a mountain top site for year-round sunset watching and star gazing. Plenty of challenging mountain biking opportunities. Enjoy seasonal opportunities including berry picking, sleigh riding and wildlife watching. Inside the cabin has a huge stone fireplace with firewood provided and an outdoor fire pit (and picnic table). XM radio, premium cable, 4 new flat screen televisions, wireless internet, cell phone coverage, dishwasher, washer/dryer for the comfort of guests gives you modern comforts in a country setting. There is a catch and release stocked pond with no fishing license required on the property.

This is a nicely decorated true log home-not one piece of drywall. The kitchen is well equipped for all your cooking and grilling needs. Large lower master suite with new king size memory foam mattress. There is an additional ½ bath off the vaulted living room, dining area and kitchen (with eat-in counter). Upstairs there are two bedrooms-one queen bed and one full and a loft with a futon. There is a nice sized bathroom upstairs as well. Out front there is a 48’ long porch with Adirondack chairs and a swing. Off the living room is a large screen enclosed patio with a large hot tub/Jacuzzi with outdoor speakers to enjoy the XM radio. There is also a table to enjoy meals outside.

In the event that the Chestnut is not available give us a call as other lodging options are available on the 70 acre property.

You are approximately 5 miles from the New River Gorge Bridge, the visitor’s center and the access road down to the New River (Fayette Station). Multiple rafting companies as close as 5 miles. There is a “Foodland” grocery store within two miles for your convenience. You are 15 minutes from Summersville Lake, 15 minutes to Hawks Nest State Park and 50 minutes from Winterplace Ski Resort.

Fred and Brenda are onsite to provide check-in information and to assist and provide information to help you enjoy your stay. The guest book is filled with wonderful reviews and a great source for recreation and dining ideas. Two very frequently mentioned compliments are the cleanliness of the house and Fred and Brenda’s hospitality.

We purchased this lovely farm after I (Brenda) pointed it out to my husband Fred on a drive one day and told him I would love to have a place like that someday. Well my wish came true!!! We once ran a very proserporus B&B here and even had many celebrities visit, but as Fred says 'we stopped because we got Jimmy Dean disease' from cooking so much sausage. We now offer our detatched guest cottage, the 'Evergreen', a second newer log home and one attached, but separate entrance guestroom to the main house. We will let you do the cooking. We pride ourselves in offering a unique experience, high cleanliness, great service and a 'non-commercialized' enviroment. We are on site at all times.

Brenda or Fred purchased this cabin in 1987

It is located in the whitewater tourist area of Fayette county noted for outdoor recreation, is near the New River and Gauley River National Parks, the New River Gorge Bridge, Hawks Nest and Babcock State Parks, the best rock climbing area in the eastern United Stated, near the Hatfield-McCoy ATV trail, Summersville Lake and is located on the historic Midland Trail Scenic Highway. The property was a civil war encampment know as Dogwood Gap, the driveway is part of the James River and Kanawha Turnpike.

The outstanding views from the hiking paths, privacy for guests as the cabin is on 45 acres located just off the intersection of Rt. 19 and Rt. 60, the cabin has a huge stone fireplace with firewood provided. The cabin has XM radio, premium cable televisions, wireless internet, telephone, dishwasher, washer/dryer for the comfort of guests. COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR MORE!

Couldn't Have Asked For More!

My family and I stayed 5 nights in the Chestnut cabin and were extremely happy from start to finish. The cabin was so clean and had everything we could possibly need, not a thing was missing. Plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, extra blankets and sheets, even toilet paper! The grounds were immaculate, rolling hills with plenty of trails to hike. We saw deer every evening, one even came within a few feet of the cabin. The location was perfect, only a few minutes from rafting, state parks, and restaurants but the way the cabin is situated you feel like you're in your own little world. It's so peaceful. I know if my family and I are ever in the area again we will definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: Providing clean comfortable lodging with all that guests need for the visit is done with appreciation of being chosen as the place guests prefer to stay. The cabin is fully equipped for cooking, grilling and toasting marshmallows at the fire pit.
The property surrounding the cabin has not had any type of chemicals applied since the owners purchased it in 1986. The animals seem to enjoy the clean grasses and berries growing on the property and in turn allow the guests to view them in their natural habitat.
The property provides privacy for guests but is located very near most activities in the area. Many of our guests have returned to the cabin year after year, some to enjoy the activities of the area, others to meet with family, friends or for a romantic stay for two.

AMAZING CABIN IN WV!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just stayed at this cabin with another couple and we could not have been any happier with the accommodations. The location is perfect - close to rafting, hiking, lakes and shops, but set aside on many many beautiful quiet acres of land. The cabin has everything you need to grill out and make all your meals. It was very clean too! The 3 bedrooms are all spacious and having 2 1/2 bathrooms was excellent. Fire pit outside and hot tub were great too!

Brenda and her husband are great hosts and we will definitely be coming back soon.

Owner's Response: The cabin is stocked with everything needed for a visit including paper products, filters for the coffee pot, dishwashing soap for the sink and dishwasher, garbage bags, soap in the 21/2 baths, towels (kitchen and bathrooms) all other linens, and firewood. The only thing guests need to bring is charcoal for the grill and laundry detergent, staying in the cabin has all the conveniences of home. There is XM radio with speakers inside the great room and on the screened hot tub porch, premium cable with flat screen televisions, the hot tub is drained, cleaned and refilled for each guest visit.
The cabin location is very private with great views from the windows and porches. The hiking paths have even better views of the acreage and the area.
The cabin is within 12 miles of most activities in the New River Gorge area, Summersville Lake, rafting, zip lining, fishing, Hawks Nest State Park, Babcock State Park, New River National Park, the Gauley River and the New River.

COULD NOT ASK FOR MORE

  • 5 of 5
The location was perfect. The cabin itself had everything you could want. The back porch view and hot tub was spectacular. I would definitely stay here again. Brenda was a great host. She provided clear information on the area and how to get here, the local restaurants and she was very responsive to anything we needed. There is so much to do in the local area. We went rafting, zip lining and horse back riding and had a blast. The area is great for any kind of outdoor activity you could possibly want.

Owner's Response: The cabin location is within 12 miles of most activities in the New River Gorge area. There are adventures for all ages with float trips for young children and for those not seeking the thrill of Class VI rapids. For the guests who like a more exciting trip there is the lower New River with some fun whitewater and the Gauley River season in the fall with trips for the more experienced rafters.
The area has several zip lines some are canopy tours with information about the ecology of the area and others are fast and furious. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and fishing at Summersville Lake, visiting state and national parks are all available in the area. Fayetteville, one of America's "Coolest Small Towns" has several restaurants (menus on the web) that are unique and offer a variety of flavors for the most discerning guests.
The cabin is fully equipped with all that is needed for a relaxing or exciting visit to the New River Gorge area. Views from the cabin porches and windows are ever changing with the seasons but are always breathtaking.

THIS CABIN IS A TREASURE!

  • 5 of 5
This was our third stay at the the Chestnut. We love to come for white-water rafting during Gauley River season (September - mid October). I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. I even schedule my stay based on the Chestnut's availability, I love staying here that much. I first found this treasure about seven years ago from a Google search. My husband and I stayed here and were hooked. It's beautifully decorated, absolutely immaculate and is very well maintained. I asked the owner, Fred, if he refinishes the hardwood floors every year, they are that pristine. Fred and Brenda are the perfect hosts - there to answer any questions but they also leave you to total privacy. I have always loved the hot tub - It's absolutely clean - no foam as one see in hotels. I never use those "public" hot tubs but I'm the first one in the hot tub at the Chestnut. Everything about it is relaxing, romantic and first rate. I almost didn't write this review because I fear that if others knew how awesome this cabin is, I would never be able to reserve it - it would be booked way in advance.

Owner's Response: Having guests who respect the work that goes into renting a vacation home makes all the effort worthwhile. The Chestnut is a beautiful log home with all of the comforts of home, it is kept very clean and well equipped for guests visits. The hot tub is drained, cleaned and refilled for each guest visit, opening the cover reveals sparkling clear water. The views from the porches, windows and hiking trails on the 70 acre property are especially beautiful this fall but the cabin is within minutes of most activities including whitewater rafting, zip lines, fishing and exploring the New River Gorge area with the National River and Parks. Hiking at the nearby state parks provides great views in natural mountain settings, a favorite is Mill Creek Trail in Ansted that follows a railroad bed that transported coal from the mountain to the New River. Providing guests with information on activities, events and locally owned restaurants illustrates the many adventures and dining experiences available in the New River Gorge area.

PERFECT FOR A FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
Our family of six spent four days here. The house was clean and well maintained inside and out. A faucet began dripping and the owners worked with us to schedule the repair. The hot tub is in the screened in porch which makes it more usable. The owners are a very nice couple that live very close. If you are interested in all the nearby hiking and high adventure activities or simply getting away and relaxing, this cabin is great!

RELAXING GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Chestnut Cabin. It was plenty roomy enough for all 7 of us and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. The ice maker was broken but Brenda was already working on getting it repaired. Most importantly, everything was extremely clean. The location is secluded, yet a small grocery store is conveniently located close by. The guys didn't catch any fish but had fun trying. We especially enjoyed the front porch during the rain and the backyard fire pit area in the evening.

Owner's Response: The Chestnut is a fully equipped cabin, all that you need for your visit is food and charcoal for the grill. The cabin is almost 2000 sq feet of space and will accommodate eight people without feeling crowded. On occasion as with your home, appliances will have problems, they are repaired as quickly as is possible. Priority is given to cleaning the cabin and the hot tub is always drained, cleaned and refilled for each guest visit. New flat screen televisions are in the great room, bedrooms and have a premium cable package. XM radio with speakers inside and outside on the screened hot tub porch is another feature that makes our guests happy. The Chestnut is very private, located on a 45 acre part of the 70 acre property with great views but is within 12 miles of most activities in the New River Gorge area.

Dogwood cabins are located within 12 miles of most activities in the New River Gorge recreation area. The New River Gorge Bridge, home of the October Bridge Day event when people come from all over the world to BASE jump legally from the Bridge, is only 6 miles from the cabins. Hawks Nest State Park is 6 miles west of the cabins and has a tram from the lodge to the New River where an exciting jet boat ride will take you under the New River Gorge Bridge so that you can see for yourself the amazing structure of the bridge. In the area near Hawks Nest State Park be sure to visit the Mystery Hole for a unique look at local humor and illusion. Babcock State Park is 12 miles east of the cabins and offers a working grist mill, fishing lake with paddle boat rentals, horseback riding and easy to difficult hiking trails.

Summersville Lake is located 12 miles north of the cabins off of Rt. 19, the lake offers pontoon rentals, rock climbing and a swimming beach. Just a few miles farther on Rt 129 a visit to Carnifax Ferry State Park offers picnic areas, horseshoe pits and an outstanding viewing platform that looks down on the Gauley River Whitewater's most difficult rapids.

The town of Fayetteville, six miles south on Rt. 19, offers locally owned restaurants, an antique mall, a rock climbing store,a mountain biking shop as well as a local live theater. There are several whitewater rafting companies nearby, canopy and ziplining tours available.

There is a fascinating opportunity in Beckley, about 24 miles south on Rt. 19, to go into a once viable underground mining tour, there is also a children's interactive museum on the grounds with actual miner's homes, both workers and the superintendent's homes.

The new Boy Scout Adventure Park is just 15 miles from the cabins south on Rt. 60 at the Glen Jean exit.

The cabin property's driveway is part of the historic James River and Kanawha Turnpike. The hiking paths have outstanding 360 degree views of the area.

There are many more outstanding and exciting adventures in this beautiful mountain area, I am amazed everyday that I live in such a naturally beautiful area.
