About Tinalyn and Scott Knox

Scott and Tinalyn love their home and have taken pride and effort to restore and revive its qualities. They are both hardworking professionals and have enjoyed spending time here with many of their family members and friends.

Tinalyn and Scott Knox purchased this farmhouse in 2000

Why Tinalyn and Scott Knox chose Franconia

The Cannon Mountain House has unique qualities of comfort and charm. It is very well appointed for cooking and entertaining multi generations under one roof. It is close to many area attractions and easily accessible to major highways and airports.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We love to sit on the front porch and watch the sunsets and the bike cyclists ride by. Sometimes we sit out and listen to the rain and wind and enjoy our views. The back yard has access to cross country ski trails and a running river in the spring and summer. It is such a relaxing place all year round.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This group of 12 Runners needed a place to rest up for a night while running a relay race across the state. The house was perfect for this group with all the space and large eating areas. The pasta pot got a workout and we were glad to have this unique group. They all remarked that they want to return with their families and rent a whole week. Word has it we will see them next race as well.

Beautiful Fall Farmhouse Stay

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a fall hiking weekend in October. It was so neat staying in this farmhouse with it's charming decorating and unique layout. The kitchen had all of the items needed to serve our large group. We had many places to hangout after our hikes, adults in the parlor talking, kids at the pool table in the game room and others around the table. GREAT MEMORIES! Franconia is such a nice area. We had a beautiful hike to Bridal Veil Falls which was right down the road from the house. The highlight was the moose(plural) that we saw!! Once we were standing on the porch and we saw one was across the street in field The other sighting was down the road a mother and her calf!! This is a great area for our moose watchers!

Highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at this property. It was very cold outside, but we still took advantage of everything this area has to offer. The skiing, sledding, and skating were great. This house came with all the necessary supplies and kitchen gadgets. TV, Wi-Fi, etc all performed well. Would recommend to family and friends.

Our stay

  • 5 of 5

The farmhouse exceeded our expectations. We had more than enough room to accomodate our group of 11 which consisted of six adults and five children. There is enough space for everyone to relax and enjoy, whether it be together or alone. Our relatives came by the house to visit and were amazed at all the room we had and just how charming the house is. The teenagers enjoyed the gameroom while the 11 year olds enjoyed the well stocked board games and the nooks and crannies that make up this home. The porch was great in the evening, especially when there was a breeze blowing. The fireflies (nature's fireworks as my daughter calls them) lit up the field. The view of the mountains was lovely.

The location is great. My daughter and I went horseback riding at the Franconia Inn. Our guide, Adam, was exceptionally nice and my daughter was thrilled with the trail ride.

The home was very clean. Everything you need for cooking is in the kitchen.

Two meals stand out, The Pig's Ear in Woodsville (BBQ on Texas Toast) and The Lobster Trap right outside of Conway. The lobster rolls (the buttered warm lobster on a toasted roll) were so good we went back the next day for more. You should really visit Crescent Ledge while you are in this area. You can drive to the top and the view will take your breath away. We saw a mother bear and two cubs down at the bottom.

I do not suggest Conway railroad. We took the hour "roundtrip", we saw a single wide trailer park, the wastewater treatment plant and not much of anything else. It was a huge disappointment. Only downside of our trip.

I would highly recommend this property. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thanx for the nice review. It is great that big families can congregate "chez nous"!! There is indeed so much to do in the North Country and we are happy that folks are enjoying it from our front porch. We have added plastic cups and plates for the wee ones as that was a guest suggestion, otherwise we are stocked for every chef's needs. And this week our guests are enjoying our abundant veggie and herb garden...You can too! There is also a beautiful tram ride up Cannon Mountain and for the real adventurists there is a Glider Port open on the weekends which will give you the ride of a lifetime ...Be well.. Happy Vacationing!!

Winter 2011

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful farmhouse during the February school break 2011. We were a family of 6, with children ages 8, 6 and 2, my father in law, plus our dog. We had a fantastic time. The home was beautifully kept; kitchen was fantastic to work in..the owner had everything one could possibly want in a kitchen, and even went so far as to get something for us we requested. She greeted us on arrival, and even was so generous as to give us a welcome basket and home make cookies. Bedrooms all had beautiful, soft linens, and beds were comfortable to sleep in. The family room/game room was great. She had tons of movies to watch, and the kids enjoyed the foosball table. We had friends of ours and their kids stop by for a couple of days, and there was still plenty of room for all of us, because of the way the home is configured. The setting outdoors was also stunning..There were some absolutely amazing early morning scenery, especially with the snow on the ground. Lots of recreation close by. The town has their own iceskating rink down the road; Garnet Hill outlet was fun to shop; we went snowmobiling in Lincoln, which was approx. 35 minutes or so away; we went to North Conway and Jackson - tubing at Cranmore was awesome; very family and kid friendly; Jackson Nestlenook Farm Resort for ice skating and a sleigh ride is top notch...beautiful, and truly a step back in time. This was an absolutely amazing vacation rental (and I am picky)...we came back with awesome vacation memories.

Owner's Response: We have found that the best part of sharing our home is when we find people have enjoyed themselves here...a VOILA!! Thanx for the great review Ed and Monica..you know the "Radinski's" are envious..The Farmhouse has so much history and has had so many families grow and enjoy their lives within her walls that she almost speaks as if to say , "this is a happy home when filled with family and friends!! " You can make the most of the surrounding beauty and recreational opportunites, just relax in the many ample rooms or wander outside in the yard and garden. When can we just sit in a big rocker on the porch and watch time pass slowly?? You can right here in Franconia. Give us a shout and we will do all we can to help make sure your vacation is memorable. Scott and Tinalyn

This home is home!

  • 5 of 5

This home is home! Comfortable, spacious, warm, nicely furnished, and complete with computer, movies, and games. TIna and Scott greeted us with smiles, information, and homemade treats!

Our vacation's fun was only enhanced by the wonderful Franconia setting, the efficient, welcoming home, the well stocked kitchen, the multiple rooms, and the comfortable beds with the soft sheets (the polkadot bedroom is my favorite).

Our group consisted of 6 adults, one teen, two little ones, and a dog. It was so easy for us to enjoy being together in the media room, to cook together in that huge kitchen, and dine together around that great farm table.

Thank you Scott and Tina for opening your lovely home for guests to enjoy.
