When people hear the words train station they conjure up something quite different than what they find at Union Station. I am a licensed realtor in the District of Columbia so I know location. This is one you're sure to enjoy. The convenience of being able to walk to most places of interest while having the option of using Union Station Metro (DC subway system very user friendly).
We travel and the experience isn't always as pleasant as it could be with a little more effort. So we knew the level of service we wanted to provide to our guest, we give that little bit extra to make sure you enjoy and recommend us. We want your referral, so please let your family and friends know how nice was your stay.
We can't over-emphasize the location, cleanliness, peace and quiet provided by the 'Suite Up on the Hill 2' but the key to enjoying you stay is the owner/manager Ingrid. She is just a phone call or email away and very helpful without being too intrusive.
I almost did not rent this place as it is called 'Suite on the Hill' and as a tourist, I thought there would be an actual hill we would need to climb to get there. I checked it out on Google maps and there was clearly no hill which could have been an issue for my Dad. For a house built in 1840, his place was so much better than I expected! Plenty of hot water, air conditioning, cable TV, computer with internet and even a washer and dryer. I wasn't even bummed that the curtain rod fell down when I tried to move the curtains, or that the door came off of the closet in my room as these were the only even slightly negative comments I could make. What do I like about this place?... LOCATION! From here you can walk to all of the major tourist attractions, or catch a Circulator bus or a taxi from Union Station about 1 block away. QUIET! I was concerned that proximity to Union Station would mean noise from trains. Not a sound! The street is very quiet with almost no traffic. NEIGHBORHOOD! Super coffee shop across the street and GREAT Italian Restaurant at the corner. INGRID! So nice and easy to work with. She made us feel very welcome on arrival and was available if we were to need anything - which we did not. The suite is very comfy and plenty large enough for the four of us who were there at the time. BATHROOMS! We had 2 so there was never any problem with access. The bathtub is huge and has jets. Another plus!Overall, I would say that my family and I would definitely return and have already recommended this property to other travellers. I also very much appreciated the prompt return of my security deposit which I received in less than a week after departing.Just watch your shins when you enter as the trundle bed in the front room offers only a small clearance between it and the door. A cable TV guide would be useful as it did take me about 20 minutes to figure out how to turn on the TV and which channels we got.Enjoy your stay in beautiful Washington DC
We had a great Spring Break in DC mostly because of the proximity of the "Suite" to Union Station. We were able to catch the subway to most places and even booked a couple of tours which left from there also. Uber was able to pick us up at the Suite also. We had plenty of room to spread out at night to rest. Even cooked a couple of easy meals in the kitchen when we were too tired to go out. There was a very nice grocery store a couple of blocks away. This was the best way to vacation because we had so much room and amenities that hotels don't offer. Definitely worth the extra money.
Wonderful location to see Washington DC. Close to Union Station. The apartment was cool and comfortable when the weather outside was hot and humid. Deon was really flexible and helpful during our stay. Thanks so much!
Our family of 3 stayed in the 2 bedroom suite for 6 nights, arriving by train / Union Station, less than 2 blocks away. We were met on arrival & given basic information for our stay, which was appreciated. The unit was clean, close to many places we wanted to see, and extremely convenient for walking, biking & Metro transportation. Knowing we had a washer/dryer unit helped us to reduce the amount of clothing we needed to pack- nice bonus. Reasonably priced Italian cafe 2 doors down for convenient dinner/drinks, coffee shop across street easy for AM caffeine fix. Living room could have used a bit more comfortable seating; TV selection quite limited (although we weren't there to watch much TV)- WiFi access easy/reliable. Stairs might be a little steep for anyone who might have mobility limitations. Overall, very good & would recommend to others & would stay here again.
We had a fantastic stay at the Suite! Deon met us there to help us with any questions. We had a family of 5 and it fit our needs perfectly. We were close to restaurants, attractions, grocery store and transportation. It was ideal! We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this for any family. We hope to come back for another vacation.
We spent four days/nights in Washington and could not have asked for a better place to stay. The location was ideal for sightseeing and we walked everywhere. The Suite provided the perfect place to rejuvenate and rest our feet before heading out to eat dinner each night. We took advantage of the grocery store a few blocks away and had wonderful breakfasts each day before heading out to explore the city. With two pre-teen daughters, the wifi was the best part according to them! We were all sad to leave -- this would be our first choice to stay for another visit to Washington.
We took my parents to DC for their 50th wedding anniversary and wanted to find a place where we could all stay together but still have a bit of privacy if needed. Suite on the Hill proved to be a perfect solution. The townhome was cozy and comfortable and the bedrooms were large enough that we could "get away" when we wanted to some down time. The living is really small and not super conducive to comfortably seating 4 adults for a long period of time but given our itinerary we didn't have a lot of time just to hang out. Plus the kitchen is a good size with a nice large table.
But by far the best thing about Suite on the Hill is the location. It is literally a block from Union Station which provides easy access to the metro which can get you pretty much anywhere in the city. Additionally all of the sightseeing tours originate at Union Station so if you are planning to do the touristy stuff it's great.
Beyond that the Suite was super clean and Ingrid was a great host. She stopped by during our visit just to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Her timing was great as we were trying to find restaurant options and she pointed us in the right direction.
I would definitely stay at Suite on the Hill again.
