La Bagatelle is located off the Anse Chastanet road in Soufriere. Built on two levels, the villa faces southwest and has exceptional views of the famous Piton Mountains, the sea and on clear days even St. Vincent. Completely reconstructed in 1999, the interiors features walls and ceilings painted in soft soothing grays and whites, polished greenheart wooden floors and Italian tiled bathrooms.
Built on two levels, the living room, pool and kitchen are located on the upper level. The spacious living room is furnished with two soft cushioned settees covered in Ian Mankin fabric. An enormous covered outdoor terrace is furnished with several seating and dining areas. Outside is the 18' x 10' foot private swimming pool set in a clay-tiled terrace furnished with lounge chairs.
Bagatelle has two large bedrooms furnished with West Indian antiques. One of the bedrooms has two antique four-poster beds (a double & a queen), a cane chaise lounge, carved cheval mirror, red cedar chest of drawers and a Chinese carpet on the hardwood floors. The adjoining bathroom has a double vanity and a shower. The master bedroom has a king sized West Indian four poster bed, two antique bedside tables, cheval mirror, red cedar armoire and Bokara rug. The master bathroom is very large and features tiled countertops and an Italian tiled shower. Both of the bedrooms have ceiling fans and the windows and doors have moveable wooden louvers.
The gardens around the house have been replanted with bougainvillea growing up the walls, poinsettias, pink and white vincas, white and blue thunbergia blossoms hanging along the railings, fragrant white ginger lilies and bamboo.
The owners of La Bagatelle live next door and their tennis court below the house is available to guests of La Bagatelle.
Anse Chastanet beach is a five-minute drive and has superb diving facilities. The snorkeling just off the beach is a protected marine park. The Soufriere area of St. Lucia is the most beautiful part of the island with its Sulphur Springs, Botanical Gardens and Mineral Baths, rain forest and unspoiled coastline.
