This tranquil setting in Little Compton provides a relaxing holiday away from the cares, stress, and traffic of the larger cities. It offers many miles of safe walking, bike riding trails, beaches, and a wonderful, caring hostess.
The “downtown” is truly a quaint New England hamlet yet it has a very efficient post office, grocery store, and a quaint coffee house where the locals gather. During the summer months, there are all ages living here.
Our hostess, Perky is quite popular and involved and she was kind enough to introduce us to the local clubs, church, charities, and personalities. We met some very interesting bicyclists, sailors, boaters, and hikers.
If you like to garden, the setting lends itself to enjoying the acreage and the privacy on the lane that is Quoquonsett. Just sitting out on the back patio and enjoying the sun, the flowers, shrubs, and trees in this idyllic setting is extremely relaxing. Time does stand still. Rhode Island is the ocean state. If you go out for a walk, you are surrounded by water.
The newly renovated kitchen and cooking facilities make it a pleasure to stay at home although there are some very good local restaurants. I would recommend the Stone House. Portuguese and wonderful seafood are also available locally. Newport is a forty minute trip if mansions, food and shopping are of interest.
The bedrooms, baths, and air conditioned rooms enhance the experience. We had little need of the air conditioning over the three and one-half months we were living there. The large TV with many stations allows for evenings at home. There is large office with internet facilities, fax, and free use of the telephone.
I would rate this an excellent experience!
