At the entry way, and around the property, are enormous granite rock outcroppings. The home has accents inside and out of granite stones, a redwood paneled master bath, oak mantels, all harvested from the property. The polished concrete floors keep the home cool in the hot summer, and help maintain the warmth in the cold winter months. The ceilings are beamed and finished in pine. Located minutes from Yosemite, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst. Outside living areas include outdoor dining table and comfy chairs, lounges around the pool, and Adirondack chairs at the river. Cook outside on the outdoor grill or cook up a storm in the stainless steel kitchen. Appliances include Viking induction stove, Thermador convection ovens, and more. Sit under the granite rock waterfall in the built-in pool ledge, or jump off a 3' rock into the pool. Of course, you could swim a lap or float in the pool as you soak in the sun. Dip your toes in the river & watch the red-tail hawks glide between trees.

Hang-out in your chair until sunset & watch a deer, rabbit or possibly raccoon come to the river. After you’ve hiked Yosemite park, return home & soak your muscles in the ground level round jetted spa next to the swimming pool. Stroll to the end of the property, walk on the golf course, & shag a couple of lost golf balls on your way. Play a round of golf, or enjoy a sandwich at the rustic clubhouse, which is also adorned in granite & pine decor. Head on back to the river, grab a volleyball & couple of friends & hit the ball around the sandy beach volleyball court. Feel the cool sand between your toes. Maybe perch yourself on a granite rock & reflect on when Miwok Indians used the grinding stones to make meal, or give it a try yourself. Set up the croquet set & play a round with your mates. The river is more like a creek in August & September, so there is a lot more sandy area to explore.

Some say there’s gold in that river. So, try your luck at panning for some gold right out your door. Maybe a nice nugget for your jewelry box, or a couple flakes as a memento of your trip. Of course, we are not making any promises and do be careful of all the fools gold in the river! If the season's right, pick some fruit out of the trees, or berries. Cut a sprig of rosemary, an iris, rose, lavender, or wild-flower or two for the bud vase in the bathroom or kitchen. Before you head home, or on to your next destination, give the laundry room a work out and pack your bags with clean clothes. Of course, if you want to extend that vacation feeling, there is a local cleaner close by. If you have been able to resist the tire swing, take a spin or two before you leave. Maybe your last night could be spent sleeping in the hammock in the trees. Sign the guest book, and we’ll keep a light on for your next visit.

We have been visiting this area with our children, several times a year, for about 15 years. We enjoy the majesty of Yosemite, and have been Season's Pass holders at the Badger Pass Ski Area, located inside Yosemite Park, for many years. We have been fortunate to be able to explore the National Parks and natural beauty of the Western US and Canada over the years, but have always been drawn to Yosemite as our 'Home Base'.

During our many trips to this area, we have often sought out the Real Estate magazines and pondered ownership of a slice of paradise for our visits. In 2010, we finally took the plunge to buy, and envision many years of enjoying gatherings of family and friends at our home called 'Riverbend'.

We hope that our guests will also enjoy the peace, tranquility and beauty that beckons at Riverbend. It gives us great pleasure to share our home in this very special region.

“ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS BETTER”

  • 5 of 5
As we come around the bend in the road, the Riverbend house comes into view. Ahhh, such a relief we have arrived. It isn’t until the door knob clicks and you push open the front door to the cool air inside and the sparkling clean surrounds, that you allow yourself to believe you are really here. One can’t help but look around and wonder if there is anything new? what has changed? but we have just completed our third annual stay, and I can report, it is all still perfect. Fred and Lynn have maintained their property beautifully, even made improvements along the way, are those solar panels? new refrigerator? more umbrellas to shade the patio and pool area? is there more landscaping? Yes, Yes, Yes and wow! If you are on the fence about booking a stay at the Riverbend, hop off, but don’t take our week, we will be back!

OUR 2012 FAMILY REUNION TRIP

  • 5 of 5
What a beautiful, immaculate home with all the amenities you'd ever want, plus the most beautiful grounds, swimming pool and spa. Our family of 11 had a wonderful time enjoying Fall colors and exporing the grounds. It was everything and more from what was advertised and the pictures of it. It was close to Yosemitie and the Gold Highway 49, which we visited. A great place I'd recommend to anyone, plus very friendly and helpful owners from which to rent who made us very welcome and comfortable.

A GREAT GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
Four couples spent four nights at the beautiful Riverbend. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and are all trying to figure out when we can return for another visit. The house was in great condition and all the amenities were first-class. A great place to enjoy nature, relax with a good book or spend time with good friends. Thanks for making us feel so welcome and for being responsive to our questions and needs.

THE PERFECT PLACE FOR A FAMILY GATHERING

  • 5 of 5
We traveled from Connecticut, Georgia, Montana, Los Angeles and San Francisco to Ahwahnee for a family gathering. Riverbend was a wonderful home/resort for so many reasons. Many of the group spent days hiking or biking at Yosemite. Others were happy to stay home and enjoy the beautiful pool. And who could resist a game of golf right next door! Mornings found the readers gathered on the shaded patio with their books and coffee. For me, the best events were the family dinners we shared on the porch . . . conversations going in all directions (because that's who we are). Many thanks to the Langes for providing a wonderful haven for all of us.

THERE AND BACK AGAIN, A VACATIONER'S TALE

THERE AND BACK AGAIN, A VACATIONER'S TALE
  • 5 of 5
We returned again to the source of joy and rejuvenation. As before, Riverbend exceeded our expectations. It was the same beautiful place and yet a completely different experience. We think you can return again and again and still find yourself wanting for more. We will never tire of the property or the abundance of nature that surrounds it. Everything was familiar and yet new again. We can't make it back next summer, but we are thinking winter retreat? Another level to explore at Riverbend. We aren't Elven, but we feel like we know what the land of Rivendell was like after a week at Riverbend.

Map

Ahwahnee, Yosemite Area, Gold Country & High Sierra, California, USA -- Ideally located near Yosemite, one of the wonders of the planet that you must visit in your life-time. The home is minutes to Oakhurst, a small city with small town charm, but with many of the conveniences of a large city. You'll also find some great art, antiques and fun things to do there. With a river running through the property, this is a one-of-a-kind location. Yes, it's all about location, location, and location. This property also has a paved road all the way to the garage, which is often hard to find in the mountains around Yosemite. Within a couple of blocks from the home, you'll find an old school house that has been converted to an art school. Maybe there is some room in a class, or maybe you could drive about 10 minutes to pick up a cooking class at Chateau du Sureau. Check their calendar. http://www.chateausureau.com/school.html

Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, snowboarding, wildlife viewing, horseshoes, boating, cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, health/beauty spa

Golf: River Creek Golf Course at edge of the property. http://www.rivercreekgolfcourse.com/

Additional golf courses w/i a short drive!

Ski: Badger Pass Ski Resort: http://www.yosemitepark.com/badgerpass.aspx

In Ahwahnee, CA, we are at 2,250 ft. elevation, so our weather is a little milder than Yosemite Park. Weather history link: http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/fitness/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USCA0790?from=month_bottomnav_undeclared
