Soda Springs has significant snow fall with year-round access 7000-feet elevation. Our lot is also unusually quiet, with a small stream across the road in front of us, and no houses to the immediate front or left of the building (it is at the street crossroads).

With a BBQ grill, outdoor picnic table/chairs in the summer, canoe and beach toys, there is plenty to do for your friends and family! No matter how many times you come stay, there is always a place you have never seen before.

We are 1.5 blocks from the water/dock and 3 blocks from the Lodge. 10 mins west from Donner Lake.

We do offer a complimentary turn down service - the cabin will be bright, warm and welcoming upon your arrival! DSL. We have iPhone4 docks and speakers in the cabin.

We try to make sure coffee beans are available (we have a coffee grinder and machine) but we do lose track of inventory sometimes. We do have courtesy linens and TP at the cabin but if you feel that you are a high-usage group or afraid you may run out, please bring your own supplies.

WINTER ONLY:

Please inquire if you would require babysitting services, we do not personally know any of the sitters but we have references from a local babysitting/nanny site that we can refer you to.

Upon reservation, you will get a BIG LIST of instructions before you check in, please read EVERY single line - it protects us and you from additional damages that could incur. It also has tips on how to make your trip more pleasant based on our experiences.

About Alicia Kinney

We are two software engineers in the bay area. We bought a cabin because we loved snowboarding!

We love food and cooking at home, we have large family feasts when we go up there. We usually hike, snowboard and curl up.

We have been renting this place for about 7 years now and had the luxury of renting to repeat families that come annually. Families have started moving away and things change so we are opening this cabin up this year - to see how it works out.

The cabin is very lovingly maintained by a young couple that live in the area, loved by families who have been coming for many years now, before we had the privilege of owning it. We hope to attract people who will appreciate it as much as we have.

Alicia Kinney purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Alicia Kinney chose Soda Springs

We fell in love with this cabin - it is beautiful, unique, well-kept, warm (cozy but not small) and unassuming. Of all the ones we saw, we loved this one the most. It is serene where it is, yet easy to get to. We rarely get snowed in even if the pass does shut down (we are located before Donner pass), it permits us to beat the traffic in and out of Tahoe. It takes us exactly 3 hrs to get to the cabin from San Francisco. The residents and community is tight-knit, warm and family/community oriented.

What makes this cabin unique

Play space in the loft for kids, with a TV/DVD and videos for kids and adults! Cabin is stocked with novels and old maps and guides for the outdoor lover! Close to Soda Springs snow tubing area - particularly awesome for little kids!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We joined another family for a few days of skiing, and together we used this as our home base for all our activities. It was perfect! Its location is close to many resorts, and it is a beautiful setting to enjoy snowball fights outside and hot cocoa by the fire inside.

The cabin fit our 2 families very comfortably. The cabin is clean and updated with all the accessories and features to make a very comfortable stay. Alicia was wonderful to work with as well. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin for us to make wonderful memories!

Nice place!!

  • 5 of 5

This was a clean, uncluttered cabin, with a well-furnished kitchen. We were an inter-generational family group of 16. We rented 2 houses in Soda Springs, but used this house as the "Gathering Place" for family dinners. The kitchen table comfortably seated 10 and the overflow used the upstairs coffee table (which we brought downstairs) for eating. The place was ideal for our uses, and was quite warm and cozy. Our only concern was that the loft foldout couch was hard and sagged (so our 9th and 10th persons did not sleep comfortably). But for a group of 4 couples this cabin is IDEAL, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here! Kudos to Alicia (the manager) and TC (the owner). We would definitely come back.

Very Please!

  • 5 of 5

Such a nice place! We were very pleased with how this cabin and the process turned out. A little nervous looking at pics and listings and making contact, etc. Was a great experience. It was my little family of 3 and my folks and we stayed for 3 nights. The owners are great. Very accommodating and helpful, answering any questions we had before-hand. The layout of the cabin was easy and comfortable. It was nice to be able to take a short walk to the swimming beach and my husband actually walked around the entire lakes' perimeter in less than an hour (granted he's got long legs and a quick gait) but a completely do-able walk for most folks. We would most definitely stay here again.
