Mountain Views w/ Hot Tub and Pool Table

Beautiful private log cabin with privacy and long range vistas. Enjoy the mountain vistas on the full wrap-around deck with rockers, loungers and patio set. Enjoy your favorite book in the cool breezes on the lower patio swings. Unwind in the new 6 person hottub on the lower patio or relax in the hammock. Grill out under the shade trees and dine on the picnic table. To the back of the cabin, this wooded tract joins a much larger wooded tract for even longer hikes through the forest where deer and turkey abound. The adventurous will enjoy the 1/2 mile trail to the Hiking Trail to New River: It will take about 20 minutes to walk to the river and it is very steep. Just follow the signs on the trails(remember never smoke while hiking nor leave trash). The log cabin offers large greatroom with cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace with gas logs, leather living room suite, Satellite Flatscreen TV (250 channels) & DVD. Dining table for 6. Fully equipped kitchen with toaster, coffee maker and all the things necessary to prepare a delicious meal. Main level bedroom with queen bed and a full bath. Large sleep/sitting loft with Satellite TV, sitting area and queen bed. Lower level offers bedroom with queen bed, full bath and gameroom with pool table. Sleeps 6. Heat ump with central heat and AC. Other amenities include: books, games, card/game table. Pets are NOT welcome at this cabin.

Great stay at Higher Ground

I recently spent a weekend in West Jefferson and booked a cabin called Higher Ground. My daughter’s friend who was a study abroad student at UNCG had dreamed of staying in a cabin in the NC Mountains.

The cabin was wonderful and just perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spot, the interior and grounds was awesome. It rained some over the weekend, but even so – the scenery at the cabin was so beautiful that the rain didn’t spoil anything. On the day we left we had the good fortune of meeting the owner, he was very gracious and took the girls on a short hiking trail. Meeting the gentleman that built such a terrific cabin was one of the highlights of our weekend.

We would certainly recommend this cabin to anyone and I personally hope to be able to come back and stay again, hopefully next time will be even longer.

Higher Grounds was a nice/clean cabin. Excellent view of mountains/pasture from family room and covered deck. 3 bedrooms...1 is a loft, 1 on main floor, 1 in basement. Private and quiet at homesite. The walk to the river was enjoyable...my 5 year old may it easily. Would stay here again.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
