with four bedrooms, each with its own bath. The sunny
master bedroom has a romantic queen sized canopy bed and a large screen TV. Downstairs are three more
sunrise facing, island decorated bedrooms with attached bathrooms. Every bedroom is furnished with dark wooden blinds to allow people to sleep late despite the blazing sunshine outside! One bedroom has a king sized bed,
another has a queen and there are twin beds in the third that can be made into a second king bed. Throughout the house is a collection of colorful island paintings. The ocean side of the main

out to sea. You feel as if you are on a ship because all
you see is water! We frequently watch whales jumping and spraying from this porch! On the main level is the
great room, the kitchen and a library/office. There is also a half bathroom with beautiful alabaster sink and the Master bedroom has a romantic four poster bed with a net canopy and a bathroom with a tub and shower.
There is a gourmet kitchen and a dining area with a table seating ten and a separate library/study room. This main floor has an open plan with soaring ceilings and warm polished cedar walls. The wall facing the oceanhas large sliding glass doors which open to a covered porch that brings the outside in, and is furnished with elegant cushioned teak chairs and another table seating eight for moonlight dinners. There are rocking chairs and a commodious hammock for lazy afternoon naps! The porches are concealed by dense coconut palm foliage that rustles softly in the tropical breezes.
Inside the main living room there is a 50 inch digital satellite TV for movie nights or sports. There is also a Bose sound system with an I-Pod docking station for music which you will find more enjoyable due to the excellent acoustics of the room. Throughout the house is reliable WiFi internet access for your laptop computer. In the study are shelves stocked with books, puzzles, games, and reference and local history books to make your visit fun and educational. A sunny downstairs porch furnished with beach furniture and an outdoor gas grill looks out onto a private garden area for sunbathing and sand castle building. The beach and the surf lie beyond the dune for swimming, shell collecting, and at low tide, tidal pools for the children to splash in. There are also adjacent sea caves for exploring at low tide. After all of this, there is a whimsically striped outdoor shower with hot and cold water!

We have been coming to Hopetown for over 25 years and have always appreciated the natural beauty of the islands with their surrounding reefs and waters. We also enjoy the people we encounter who have found their way here by various means and come from widely diverse backgrounds. From the descendants of the original settlers to the boating people that wander into the harbour, snow birds, second home folks, Florida residents fleeing their summer heat and humidity along with our more recent arrivals from Haiti contributing to the Island work force; all add their own spice to this rich cultural stew!
There is a wonderful feeling of privacy at Half Moon. We are located on a quiet unimproved road that doesn't get much traffic and are close enough to Hopetown for it to be convenient, but far enough away to not be bothered by it. The main view from the house is of the open sea with its ever changing moods which is framed by cliffs on one side and dense tropical foliage of palm trees on the other. You really have the feeling of being sequestered on your own island and while there is plenty to do on the outside, this is a place of peace and quiet!
Our family had a fabulous week vacation at Half Moon in November. When we arrived at Half Moon, we were immediately taken back by the beauty of the home and its surroundings. The home has a really great layout that allowed everyone in our family to have a good amount of space, but it also felt cozy and warm at the same time. One of the best features of the house is the amazing ocean view. Our family definitely took advantage of relaxing outside on the porch with the soothing sounds of the ocean in the background. We also enjoyed exploring the island and experiencing Hope Town. The Locals in Hope Town are truly welcoming and made us feel at home for the week. We are definitely excited for our next family vacation at Half Moon!
Half Moon is a very Special Place. Our family of 5 stayed 1 week at this beautiful ocean front home during Thanksgiving week. The location is perfect - centrally located to Hope Town, Tahiti Beach, the Abaco Inn & Fire Fly restaurants. The home is designed in harmony with the coastline and Abaco Bluff. It is a quiet, serene, private home with dramatic views of the oceanfront beach from the wonderful wraparound porch, the 2nd floor great room and bedrooms. The home is very spacious, clean, tastefully decorated and furnished beautifully. The place is intoxicating - we did not want to leave. This was our first trip to Elbow Cay, it is a wonderful little island. The Abaco people are very friendly with a real sense of respect for their neighbors, visitors and the Hope Town Community. We explored the island by golf cart & boat. We snorkeled around Hope Town and other cays. We made some wonderful life long lasting vacation memories exploring Elbow Cay and the surrounding area from Half Moon. We can not wait to go back!
Our family of 5 truly enjoyed the wonderful Half Moon house for our first visit to Elbow Cay. The house is very tastefully designed and decorated. It does not have the feel of some other vacation rentals. It is very well furnished and equipped and the location was perfect for our family. Close to the surfing beaches just south and the same distance to town up north. Great family vacation, hope to see you again next summer.
We stayed at Half Moon for 8 incredible days. It is everything advertized and much more. Very clean with all the amenities you could desire. Right on a beautiful beach with an astounding view. We had three couples and the house is laid out so nicely that everyone had plenty of space. Jo Ann, the owner, was very gracious in getting me out of a big jam as I had forgotten to reserve golf carts and nobody had any for rent during the busy July 4th week. When we arrived via the caretakers car we were surprised to have two carts sitting in the driveway. Thank you Jo Ann!!! You saved the day! I have used VRBO many times over the years and this is as fine a property as we have ever stayed at, and we are picky. I would absolutely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. Elbow Cay is a wonderful little island. Very clean and safe and of course the Abaco people are as friendly as you will find anywhere in the world. Rent with complete confidence.
Beginning with the160 degree, breathtaking view of the ocean from the balcony , we were smitten before we even started! The house, built in a classic Bahamian vacation style, is in pristine condition, and has a casually elegant feel. Four gracious and comfortable bedrooms with baths accompanying each one afford total privacy. The kitchen is particularly well equipped for a rental property.
The distance from Hopetown, about a mile, is enough to offer a quiet relaxed experience but not too far to be accessible to restaurants and shops and other attractions to be had in town and around the Harbor. A trip across the harbor to the lighthouse and lunch at the Hopetown Harbor Marina is definitely worth the time. A visit to Firefly, a fine restaurant with a lovely sunset view, and located near the house, is a must.
The beach in front of the house has a long expanse of lovely coral sand for beach combing, walking, and sunning. Close enough to White Sound further south, it is well positioned to visit the Abaco Inn, one of Elbow Key's nicest restaurants with a pool and a beach especially suited for young children.
The whole experience of our visit was better than I had anticipated and one we certainly would love to repeat, not to mention recommending it to anyone else.
We stayed at Half Moon House July 2011 with two teenage boys. There aren't enough adjectives to tell how lovely the home is. It is decorated very beautifully and comfortably with local art, lovely furnishings and every comfort of home. The outdoor porch is a favorite spot to soak up the salt air and listen to the palm trees. I would highly recommend this house and would love to come back soon. The location is private and yet close to all the local shops and restaurants. We loved it! We fished, snorkeled, slept a lot, enjoyed the views and the home. There is something there for every interest and activity. Enjoyed!!!
Despite the Google map, there is no nude beach and never has been. We are located on a beautiful ocean beach with coral reefs for snorkeling right in front of the house. You can surf just off shore and whales can sometimes be seen from the elevated front porch! There are sea caves on the beach just to the north of Half Moon and in low tide there are pools for children to play in. We have been told this is the best beach on the island for sea glass finding!
