Beautiful island home on Isla Colon in Bocas Del Toro. The ocean and a swimming beach are only 1 block from the house. In fact, you can see the water from the deck! Night life and restaurants in town are only 2 miles away. The surfing beach is only a 5-10 minute bike ride from the house. The jungle is in the backyard and howler monkeys may wake you up in the morning. They live in the jungle in back of the house!
Also, the property manager's lives directly next door and he can help with anything you need including scheduling excursions and setting up boat rides. We are fully equipped with wireless internet and the house has a washer and dryer, which is always great when on vacation!
We live in the blustery cold state of Minnesota, USA and on vacation, we absolutely fell in love with Bocas. Once there, we never wanted to leave! After we saw this house and the location, we saved up and made our dream purchase happen. We are most excited about having our children immersed in another culture while enjoying all there is to do in Bocas. We also can't wait for our friends and family to stay in the house and be woken up by howler monkeys!
Nothing would make us happier than sharing this house and beautiful area with anyone who chooses to vacation here! We want everyone to love it as much as we do. We hope you will stay with us and enjoy your dream vacation!
Tera purchased this house in 2006
This house is in the perfect location on the island. It's across the street from the beach and only a short bike ride away to great surfing and Bocas town. As for the property, it has a beautiful deck, beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife and vegetation. Also, it's an extremely safe area, as is the entire island.
Also, we have wireless internet and 2 pedal bikes available for rent!
We have a caretaker Javier, who lives next door. He can set up fishing trips, cave tours, snorkeling, whatever you wish to do!
Staying with us, you get to enjoy the large, open deck. You also the sites and sounds of monkeys and birds in the jungle in the backyard. This house is in the best location on the island, near the beach and surf spots yet it is close enough to town but far enough to be quiet and private.
We had a wonderful time last week at your home in Bocas. As everyone says I'm sure we spent a lot of time on the deck. Enjoyed swimming in the ocean just on the other side of the bridge too. Javier was great. He was always available if we needed him. We rented bikes from him and enjoyed doing a ride each day. We rode to del Drago- took the bus back with the bikes on top- out to Bluff beach and had lunch at Carolina- what a view. Was also great to be able to ride into town. Loved it
I can honestly say I have never before written an online review, though I'm extremely reliant on them when traveling and felt it was my duty to write about this vacation home since it was so, so good.
We stayed at Tera's in Bocas from 12/29-1/23. I had never been to Bocas del Toro before and was unsure if I had chosen the right location. The house is situated 4.5 miles from town. To get to and from town, you use the house phone (you purchase minutes in town) to call a cab. We used the driver Miguel for everything - Javier will set you up with him. We generally went to town every day and the fare is $2 per person per trip. From town, we'd spend our days taking boat taxis to explore other islands or dine at one of the many bars/restos there. Our favorite was Ultimo Refugio. The other saving grace was the gourmet supermarket (I'm blanking on the name now) but it's also at the end of town.
North of the house is the finest beach on Colon, Bluff Beach. We were in Panama for surf and would head to Bluff nearly everyday. The ride to Bluff is steep ($20/$30) but worth it. There are two great restaurants there and it's beautiful.
The only food/bev options within biking/walking distance to the house is a wood fire pizza spot (only open at night) and a great resto called Paki Point on the beach over looking the surf spots Tiger Tails and Ponch.
I would not have traded the location of the house for anything. It was mid way between everywhere we wanted to be. We absolutely loved it. The house itself is extremely well maintained. The AC is good and cold, the house was extremely clean and water worked great. Even the laundry was modern and wonderful. The house was equipped with all the major things I'm typically concerned with such as a coffee machine, bottled water for drinking and new/lovely beach and bath towels.
Javier the caretaker is awesome. He sorted us out with just about anything we needed. I used his services twice weekly to tidy the house and he did an excellent job. He's really sweet and I found him to be very trustworthy.
Overall, a fantastic stay in Bocas. We absolutely loved it and will be back!
We spent a magic week at Casa Oceana, the place was quiet and closed to Main Street....
The house is perfect and confortable for our family, we were 3 adults + 2 childrens....
The first beach is just 3 minutes walking and in the same time, the jungle is around us.... Perfect harmony !!!
We will be back during the summer !!!
In the same time, we want to say Thank you a lot to Javier, he's a really helpfull person...
And Carol too !!! We will never forget !!!
This house and location was perfect for our visit to Bocas....just far enough from town to feel away from it all, and we loved slowly biking Panama-style into town to go on tours, eat or shop. It's true that Bocas is kind of an epic journey from the Northwest, but an afternoon on the lovely porch fixed us up and we were ready to snorkel, bike, ATV, and go to the beach. Carol (a fellow Oregonian who says she's never going back :) met us at the airport, and Javier is our new great friend. He's an excellent cook too...on our last night he made coconut rice and chicken, and we ate with his family. He also arranged a quick tour of Panama City with his brother Vidal (who is a policeman and a taxi driver) as we had five or six hours to kill there before catching our flight home. This was a great end to the trip, however we speak Spanish and Vidal's English is limited, so if you don't speak Spanish this may not work for you.
Until our next visit, we'll dream of going back!
It was my best holidays !!!
House is beautiful, place of house is so quiet.... Really charming holidays...
We will coming back in July or August....
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'the jungle house', after a narly trip here from the NW USA, it was such a relaxing treat to chill out on the spacious deck surrounded by the jungle! The house was awesome and the grounds were spectacular! The location is ideal too, close to surf spots, swimming beaches and just a short bike ride to town which we really enjoyed! It was nice to be greeted at the airport by carol and she gave us a little tour of town! Tera provided excellent friendly customer service and was super helpful!! We would stay at Casa Oceana again for sure!!
We were wonderfully greeted by Carol when we arrived. She showed us around town and all the best places to eat and shop. This was great information that really helped us out. The house is outside of town a bit, but they provided us bikes to get into town. Being outside of town, we really felt like it was our own little place. We could really relax and enjoy the sounds of the jungle. Javier was great to help us with whatever we needed, he even arranged a chocolate tour (Highly Recommended) and a private tour of the local islands. Overall this experience was excellent and I would highly recommend for anyone staying more than a couple days in Bocas!
The house is across the street from the beach and ocean, located in Big Creek. The beach across the street is great for swimming and suntanning. The water is shallow and clear and the beach is sandy! Great surfing is only a 5 minute bike ride away and it's only a 10 minute bike ride into town. In town, there are markets for food and beverages which can be enjoyed on the spacious deck!

We have 2 pedal bikes which can be rented on a daily basis from the property managers. It's a great way to get around the island!
Also, please leave the home as you found it! We would appreciate it if dishes were done when you left and if towels and bedding were piled on the floor. It's helps considerably with the turn around time for the next guest. Thank you!
