SEA VIEW BEACH HOUSE: WHITE SAND ONLY 1 MINUTE TO THE BEACH

We spent almost one month in this very special house, which immediately was a home for us! Everything turned out to be exactly like described and seen on the pictures. The staff of Longtail beach resort was very friendly and helpful, the location is unique - close to the beach, next to the main road but still very calm and hidden.
The house was super clean upon arrival, we enjoyed the unique view during day time and terrasse in the evenings. We rent a motorbike with which the three of us rode to the next beach or did the groceries at nearby 7/11. The beach is like in paradise although the sea was quite flat most times (which was ideal for our daughter). A great variety of restaurants along the beach and in the little town in walking-distance. Tours by boat or taxi could easily be arranged. The perfect hideaway for couples or small families looking for something special and typical with alot of comfort! We hope to come back some day ....

This house is everything it claims to be! A great getaway in a beautiful place. We were there in the "off season" of May. That meant the beach, which was a quick walk down the hill, was extremely quiet. All the restaurants were open and had excellent food, for very reasonable prices. You can get massages and other spa treatments right on the beach for only a few dollars! Everything was clean, and everyone was very friendly.

We were only there a few days, so we didn't do many of the attractions. We did rent a kayak for an afternoon and paddled around the bay, made a sandcastle, picked up seashells.

The disadvantage of staying so far away from "modern civilization" was transportation. The taxi from the other side of the island was about $30 (USD). And we had to make a special arrangement for the return taxi, since we had a 1pm flight from Koh Samui and taxi's don't usually pick up early. But since we wanted something secluded, we expected travel to be a little costly/timely.

There is plenty of food available at the restaurants, but there is no grocery store anywhere. The closest thing was the local fruit stand and a 7-11. With the kitchen, we had planned on cooking our own meals, but that wasn't an option. So just plan on visiting the restaurant, or you can place your order and they will actually bring it to the house. They will do pretty much anything you ask them to, and do it with a genuine smile.

Overall, it was fantastic. If you want to get away, this is perfect. I don't know that its a great place for doing a lot of activities, so it depends on what you want.

The bumpy ride over the island in the dark originally had us a little concerned that we were going 'seriously rustic' but the Longtail Beach House was ideal for our family vacation (2 adults, 2 boys 12,15). The house is clean, well appointed and private - it is great place to relax on a hammock and read a book or watch a movie at night. Mr Oh and the Longtail team are warm and welcoming. The food at the restaurant is fabulous. You can just have a running tab... no need to bring cash with you and pay at the end. The beach is pristine and secluded. Often we were the only ones in the water but there are plenty of other resorts along the beachfront to allow for some variety for dining! There is a 7 Eleven only 10 minutes down the road with limited supplies so I would highly recommend doing a grocery stop at the Ko Phangan Dock area before catching the taxi over the island to get full supplies (meat, fruit, cereal etc) if you want to do some of your own cooking. Thong Nai Pan Village is very small with a few restaurants. I did do Hatha yoga at the local studio (it was only the instructor and me!). Thong Nai Pan Noi is a good half hour walk but has more going on. I would highly recommend going over for dinner. I went to Tannaporn Massage for a Thai massage and it was fantastic! We also booked a elephant trek and snorkeling package at one of the close resorts. The elephant trek was really just a quick circuit around a small compound on an elephant but it was good value for money (included a good lunch). The weather was not very cooperative which put a 'damper' on the snorkeling so try to go on a good day. I would definitely recommend booking a stay at the Longtail Beach Resort for a romatic getaway or family vacation. Brian and Brenda quickly responded to all our requests via email and made booking very easy and convenient.
