Welcome to The Landyshade Farm House,

we hope that you will enjoy your stay here with us.This timeless, grand farmhouse will be exclusively yours during your visit. The Landyshade Farm House offers a distinctive and spacious home for you to enjoy. We are located in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country, where there are so many wonderful attractions to keep you coming back to enjoy them all. We are able to accommodate small or large groups. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, reunion, business meeting, church retreat, desire a farm experience, a country holiday, or a special place to stay near historic Lancaster, we can help. The Landyshade Farm House is open year-round and each group is given personal attention. The Landyshade Farm House is a lovely farmhouse that sleeps up to 12 people. Additional guests can be accommodated up to 18 people.  Our historic farmhouse dates back to the 1700's and which was deeded by William Penn's son,  has been recently remodeled and has 5 large and spacious bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. With 2 large living room areas. The Landyshade Farm House is located on a modern working dairy farm. We offer scheduled tours of our farm. Watch the milking process and as the cows are being fed. See the calves on the farm and maybe get a chance to help feed one. If your lucky you might even get to see a calf being born. Learn about some of the modern ways we conserve our energy on the farm. While here you can sit on the front porch and watch the farmers in the field, or as we load and unload mulch in our mulch yard, or go for a relaxing stroll through the orchard area or sit and relax watching the kids play on the play ground or with our family dog, Sheba. There are many Amish farms in our area and the Amish tourist areas are close by, with quick access to Route 283. We are close to beautiful shopping malls, and outlets, grocery stores, and pleasing restaurants.

About The Owner

John and Doris Landis started here after buying the family farm from John's father in the 70's. With the help of their son, John Jr. and several employees they have continued to maintain and grow their farm. In 1983 they began their mulch landscaping business that is now known as Landyshade Mulch. Their mulch business grew quickly and is known all over Lancaster County now.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 1975
Why The Owner chose Lancaster

John and Doris have raised their family in this house and have recently moved off the farm. With the recent remodeling of their home they have opened it up to you. Our home is located with easy access to the Lancaster County Amish attractions.

What makes this farmhouse unique

While your here sit back and relax on the porch or balcony, or play with the kids in the playground. Take a walk through the orchard or just sit and enjoy the beautiful sunsets that we get to enjoy daily. We are centrally located to enjoy Hershey Park and the delicious chocolate attractions of Hershey PA and minutes away from Lancaster City and the Amish tourist attractions. While here you can have a scheduled tour of our farm. Enjoy learning about the milking process, maybe get a peek at us milking, see the calves on our farm and maybe get a chance to see a baby being born. Learn some of the modern ways we are conserving our energy and resources.

Great Multi-Family House

We just stayed here for the weekend with two others families, totaling 6 kids and 6 adults between us and we had more room/sleeping options than we needed! It is a beautiful, cozy, well-designed home with lots of great living space and central dining/family room area for us to gather, eat, talk, and watch the kids. The outdoor playground was a HUGE bonus, as was the outdoor eating gazebo for coffee and breakfast in the morning. The owner and family at the farm were very sweet and gave us a tour of the dairy farm. We didn't stay long enough to need to do laundry, etc. but it was all there, as was an outdoor grill, fully-stocked kitchen in terms of pots/pans, utensils, etc.and plenty of towels for 3 large families. We hope to be back one day!

We stayed here for a long weekend in June 2012. The reservation and check in process couldnt have been simpler. Sue was such a warm and helpful hostess and we enjoyed the farm tour so much. What an asset she is to this property! We got to see a calf just hours after her birth!

The house was beautiful and the accommodations couldn't have been better! We are so glad that we chose to spend our time here and look forward to returning again and again. Thanks, Sue, for all you did to make our weekend fun and special.

Wonderful Family Reunion for Thanksgiving 2011

The Farmhouse was perfect for our family renunion over the Thanksgiving holidays. It had plenty of room for 3 extended families plus inviting additional friends and relatives for Thanksgiving dinner. We had as many as 15 people staying in the Farmhouse and had more than enough space. The large kitchen came in real handy for Thanksgiving. We have been doing reunions in Lancaster over Thanksgiving for many years - and this was one of the better times - thanks largely to the ability to get everyone together in this large Farmhouse. An added bonus was the ability to tour this large operating dairy farm and to live for a short while in a real farm environment - a very interesting operation. We would definitely recommend this property to others. It was clean, well maintained, conveniently located to Lancaster and surrounding areas whether touring or visiting friends and relatives.

Felt like home

We just got home from a long weekend in Lancaster and we stayed at this house. I was so incredibly pleased with the entire experience!!!! This house is so wonderful- so comfortable, friendly, close to everything and plenty of space. We were even treated to a tour of the dairy farm. I would absolutly recommend this property to all my friends and family. We will be back, just hope we can stay longer!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was so clean and relaxing, we have a wonderful sleep. We usually stay with family in the area, but this was a wonderful option for us and we loved it.
