Overall good experience with a few drawbacks

We stayed at this condo from 4/6/13-4/12/13. Overall it was a average to good rental, basically what we expected, & definitely a good choice for people who want beach front with ability to cook/have food/drink in room.
Pros: The condo itself it was what we expected from the pictures & reviews. It was comfortable and had bath towels and linens as expected. It could use a little updating, but that is personal taste/preference, & overall it was a comfortable stay. It was large enough with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a kitchen/living room area extending to the balcony (which was as wide as the living room & the doors opened wide, making the living room area larger). The balcony was screened in, preventing bugs, & allowing us to forgo AC & just use the fresh air from the balcony. The view was lovely & the shore at low tide & sunsets are not to be missed. The location was great--directly on the beach & at a quiet part of the strip. There is a trolley stop directly next door at the street with a sitting bench. Having a pool, parking spot, & elevators was a plus. The appliances worked well. There was a garbage shoot nearby and a disposal in sink--all very convenient. There was a jetski rental right on the beach nearby(per hour and also a dolphin tour--both were great and conveniently nearby). It was quiet, good to swim, & you can't beat being right on the beach--literally steps away!
Cons: There were some little things like the screen in the balcony needed a little repair, it was weird to have the knife drawer at child level, & we found it strange that a beach rental didn’t have beach towels (a very bulky thing to pack!) & beach chairs to use. I mean, it’s a vacation rental-- no one traveling by plane brings bulky beach towels, beach umbrellas, & beach chairs--and buying them for a week was not a good solution! A few inexpensive foldable lounge chairs would have really enhanced our stay. We did end up buying beach towels b/c the rules said we couldn’t use the bath towels outside. They had some chairs/umbrellas for rent on the beach for cash, but they packed up daily by like 4pm. The biggest issue was that the pool was shut down for two days by the Board of Health for an imbalanced PH, & there was no back up plan (like an agreement with another property to use their pool temporarily), so we were left without a pool for over two days. These cons all could be remedied quite easily & cheaply by the owner, & would make it go from good to great!

Owner's Response: christine glad to hear your overall view of my condo stay was good, as for beach chairs i buy them often as my guests seem to just leave them out on the beach.under the property building along side the carts there are some chairs that others left. on the pool issue when it gets very hot out things can happen. i as one owner have no control of what to do when pool is not working. these things do happen. i hope you don't feel that i had any control over this. i can tell you the last time our pool was not available was over 2 years ago when the heater broke down. again no control that i had. hope you had a safe trip back and come again. thanks again for your review.sue and i take great pride in our property. its cleanleness, upkeep, and that everything in our unit is up to date and working great. john rusch owner
