family reunion was wonderful

  • 5 of 5
We live in Florida but have family in Chicago and wanted a place where we could all meet and just relax for a few days over spring break... a friend told us about this cottage and we LOVED it... so warm and inviting.. with wonderful areas for all of us to be together... We particularly liked the screened back porch where we all met every morning for breakfast and coffee.. the beach is so close and we loved walking there to see the lake.... it was still chilly but warm enough to catch a few rays and then, we went home and had a bonfire IN OUR OWN BACKYARD.. loved that... this is a charming, updated home that folks have put alot of care into and made our stay fantastic... Great space-love the porch!

  • 5 of 5
What a great space! We vacationed here with 10 adults and 2 babies under 1. Although the kitchen and living room aren't huge, with the screened in porch spaces and the 4th bedroom, it was plenty big for all of us. The house itself is clean and everything we needed was there: beach towels, beach toys, cooking utensils, etc. The showers are great and the master bedroom is a dream. We ate dinner in the screened in porch every night and it was perfect! The location is good and the street is very quiet-only a short drive to several great beaches and the dunes (you could even walk if you were up for it). Overall this is a great space and I know we will return in the future!

Comfortable, but older and smaller.

  • 3 of 5
We had two families in our group with a total of 11 people. Overall, our experience was positive. We enjoyed the bright kitchen and cozy screen porch, as well as the main bedroom. The linens were clean and most things were in working order. The master bedroom has a very nice comfortable bed. We highly recommend cherry beach as a quiet beach with only a short walk to the water. The innkeeper graciously provided the pass for this place and provided good customer service in general. We very much liked the surrounding wineries and eating at Tabor Hill Restaurant. Why we give this place only 3 stars is: The listing did not adequately describe the home in this way: It is old. I mean, the floors creak, the doors do not all shut well, and two bathrooms lack locking doors. The bikes provided were in awful shape. The greenery surrounding the place was hugely overgrown. The living room lacked adequate lighting, and the two other bedrooms were very small and old. The washer and dryer were in the garage, which was stacked with misc items. We were slightly disappointed and expected a bit more because of the price we had paid. However, we would recommend this place and also stay again, especially if the home was more updated and taken care of.

Owner's Response: Rachel,

Thank you for your review. We do try to keep the house updated. The master bedroom was a major reconstruction project that we did on the house. The extra bathroom had been an old closet that was unusable and we put in all the skylights and sliding doors. It was a complete overhaul. The other bedrooms are on the small side and there's not much we can do about their size, but they are next on the update schedule!

I do encourage folks to bring bicycles if they want to take long rides. Our bikes are just beach cruisers to get back and forth. I am sorry if we didn't make that clear.

Thank you for the suggestion for lighting in the living room. We will look into brightening the room up!

The washer and dryer are in the attached garage so that we don't take away from living space. Since it is heated and still convenient from the kitchen, we though that was more desirable than having smaller, stackable machines.

Again, thanks for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. I do appreciate the fact that you would still come back and stay with us again! We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

nice place to stay

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time in Sawyer and this house worked out just great for our group. The house was very clean. Plenty of towels and storage space for a long stay. It is a Great location that requires a medium walk through the forest to the beach (which we enjoyed). The back porch worked out well for grilling and building bonfire. We really love the screen porch where we spent most of the time. Also, the owners were very easy to deal with...
Our expectations were totally met and we would highly recommend this to others.

Linden House Review

  • 5 of 5
Three of us rented the house initially for 5 weeks while we worked in the area. We then extended our stay and additional 10 days due to additional work. The owner was easy to deal when we were initially setting up the lease and also during the 10 day extension at the end of the job (we were day-to-day on the final date and she was flexible enough to understand that we did not know the exact end-date of our rental).

In addition, the house was clean and had all of the amenities that we needed. I also dealt with the owner about the cable and WiFi on the first day and she had these resolved immediately.

All-in-all a very positive experience and we plan on coming back.

Linden House is situated next the Warren Dunes State Park. We are centrally located between New Buffalo and St. Joseph. Just a short drive to several beaches, casinos, outlet mall shopping and wineries. This is cycling country! Little-traveled roads provide a great cycling day from 10-100 miles. In winter cross-country skiing right outside the door into the state park... hiking... swimming... fun in the sun! Art festivals, concerts in the park and at the beach!
