Sundance Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed and sleeping nook, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-9)

You'll fall in love with this amazing cabin nestled on a beautifully wooded lot just above the base of Robert Redford's award winning Sundance resort. Just a short walk to the resort. Stunning scenery from huge picture windows in every room and from 5 decks and a private hot tub perched over the mountainside. Enjoy majestic Mt. Timpanogos views from a romantic soaking tub for two in the upper mstr. suite. 16 foot ceilings offer an open, airy feel, while rustic wood floors and a native stone fireplace reflect the warm, rustic atmosphere of Sundance. A campfire ring is nestled among the trees in a large wooded yard that your children will play in for hours. Our nature deck is crazy with wildlife: hummingbirds & many other bird types, striking Stellar's Jays and squirrels put on a show for the treats we stock at the cabin. Wild turkeys stroll the property each day, and at night, our flying squirrels pay a visit. *Granite & stainless kitchen, jetted tub, plush bathrobes, fine linens, stereo & DVD player and libraries, free internet. Pets: Trained, adult dogs only. *Impeccability clean cabin with 'Hygenitek' mattress and furniture sanitizing equipment!

You will have the time of your life at this beautiful resort!

Directions to the cabin from Salt Lake City Airport:

Fastest Route - through Salt Lake valley and Orem/Provo (about 60 minutes from SLC airport)

Take I-15 South from SLC. airport. Drive Approx 40 miles. Take the Orem, 8th North exit and drive East toward the mountains. After Approx. 4 miles you will arrive at the Provo Canyon entrance. Drive Approx. 8 miles and proceed through a tunnel in the mountainside. Make the first left turn (about 1/4 mile after exiting the tunnel) and drive Approx. 2 miles up this side canyon and turn left onto Stewart Road (just after you've passed Sundance Resort). Take a quick right onto Timphaven Road. Drive Approx. 1/2 mile. Pass by Meadows Drive. The cabin is located about 1/10th mile ahead on the right side of the road. It's set back in the trees and is only visible from the road during winter months. The street address (#8928) is posted on a massive rock that sits just above a stone retaining wall. A large Dream Catcher hangs from a tree above the sign. Turn in and park. The cabin is to the right.

Scenic Route - through Park City area (about 70 minutes from SLC airport)

Take I-80 East toward Cheyenne, Wyoming. Drive approximately 20 miles through Parleys’ Canyon and up into the Park City area. Take I-40 East toward Heber. (Note: Take highway #224 instead of I-40 East if you plan to stop in Park City along your way.) Stay on I-40 East for approximately 20 miles and drive through downtown Heber. When you get to the far end of town, turn right (at a large intersection) onto highway #189 toward Provo and drive about 12 miles. Stay in the right lane when 189 widens into additional lanes and turn right into the first side canyon (usually there's a 'Sundance' sign marking the canyon.) This side canyon is just before 189 turns into a tunnel cutting through the mountainside. *from this point, refer to the 1st set of driving directions to get to the cabin.

*Call if you'd like driving directions through Scenic American

Fork Canyon.

About Traci and Christine

Trieste is a native Utahan, born in Salt Lake City. She was whisked off to California when she was five years old, where she grew up with the beach boys, mini skirts, Disneyland, and the ocean.

Trieste moved back to Utah with her family when she was sixteen and immediately took to the outdoors. She fell in love with the mountains and wasted no time learning to ski at Sundance. Years later, Trieste's work took her to the east coast where she spent 12 years on the coast of North Carolina and in Washington D.C. Though she loved her experience, Trieste ultimately returned to Utah where her love for the unique land was re-kindled. During the ski season, Trieste can be found on the beautiful ski slopes of Sundance. It's wonderful to be able to call Sundance 'Home'!

Traci and Christine purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Traci and Christine chose Sundance

It began with a perfect 'bluebird' ski day. We bought our cabin with the idea that we might rent it out 2 or three times per year to fund our own vacations. As it turned out..., the cabin was such a perfect vacation rental that it began to rent much more than we'd planned, and the rental income was a very good thing for us back then, as we had just moved back to Utah and were working on new careers. For a long time now we've been investing our rental income back into our cabin, creating one unique project after another. I call it our expensive hobby, but really, it's a wonderfully artistic outlet for us, and our rental guests love it.

What makes this cabin unique

Hummm, where do I begin? I am in love with Sundance! I treasure the stunning beauty of the mountains and wildlife. I love the skiing, hiking, snow shoeing, horseback riding, fly fishing, rafting, birding, the fun concerts & theater under the stars, full moon lift rides, and oh, did I already mention SKIING?!! I love the peace and seclusion, but I love the social village atmosphere more than ever, and the killer restaurants & Owl Bar. Oh, and the Sundance Film Festival is awesome here at ou cozy little resort!!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Taken from guest book at cabin:

Dear Trieste, we had a wonderful time at Dreamcatcher! The views were amazing! I remember the wonderful big bath tub looking out onto Mt. Timpanogos. Thank you!!Stunning.

Ultimate Rental in Sundance

This cabin is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever stayed. The views are phenomonal and the cabin is in pristine condition when you arrive. The owner is lovely and a joy to do business with. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great recommendations. However, I must warn you, once you walk in to this cabin, you won't want to leave. It is cozy and the HUGE upstairs bathtub w/ the views of Mt. Timpanogos will put you into total relaxation. Oh, and don't miss the resident squirrel - Lucille and the Stellar's Jays - they provide hours of entertainment!

Rustic luxury

What a unique home: so much thought was put into every architectural and decorative detail. Three couples (and a child) can stay here comfortably. Nice kitchen for cooking in the home. Next door to the Sundance Resort.

What a unique home to stay in! Spectacularly decorated in an unforgettable location! We enjoyed being able to use our passes that came with our stay to ski all afternoon and then look forward to coming back and relaxing in the hot tub! My husband and I hope to return again and again as we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Thank you so much Trieste for an amazing vacation! Every detail of the home is perfect!

We can't say enough nice things about our stay in your beautiful home. The place is decorated incredibly....we love the unique decorations, the cool fireplace and all the different decks. Now let's talk about the wild life. The Stellar Blue Jays were a riot. Every morning they would wait for daily allotment of peanuts and the longer into the trip, the closer they would get to us. I had a blast with the turkeys. The first morning we heard what I thought was turkey's off in the distance, and being a bit of a bird enthusiast, I made a turkey call and they returned the call. When we return from skiing, I made the call as we got out of our car and at least 25 turkeys came running across the yard. Must have been feeding time again! Anyway, Thank you Triste for opening your wonderful home to us. We will return!!!

Beautiful cabin but serious concerns

  • 3 of 5
First the good.
1) This is a beautifully decorated cabin, so tasteful.
2) The grounds are nice with a wooded site.
3) The cabin was immaculate.
4) The owners were responsive. When we called them about the hot tub not working, they came out and fixed it the same day.

There are several serious concerns about this place.
1) This is not a stand alone cabin. It is a DUPLEX! You are connected to another cabin-Owl Spirit. There is actual an inside locked door between the two. We found this unnerving and very disappointing when it is advertised as secluded. We actually considered leaving due to this questionable misinformation.

2) The layout of the cabin is odd. It is small and the kitchen is tiny. It is not even big enough for two people to be in there at the same time. Also, there are many decks but they are not connected and feel boxy. The upstairs bedroom is so small you can barely walk around the side of the bed.

It seems a little questionable that of all of those reviews, the above items were not mentioned.
We would never stay there again. For the costliness of this place, there are much better options.

Owner's Response: We're so sorry you were not completely thrilled with the Dreamcatcher. We've always had extremely positive feedback from all of our many guests. Yes, there is now a north cabin as well as a south cabin on this very large piece of land. There is a 10 foot "buffer" section of interior cabin space that connects the two wings and totally blocks one wing from the other. There are lock-out doors on both ends of the 10 foot section so that there are no shared walls between the 2 wings. All decks are private and the Dreamcatcher has 5 wonderful decks and balconies for relaxing, dining and enjoying the fabulous views. The entrances to the north and south wings are 70 feet away, and they are on opposite sides of the cabin from one another. They are each completely private. *Some neighboring homes here at Sundance have entrances that are closer to each other and are not at all private.
Many groups of 8 and 9 have enjoyed Thanksgiving and other holiday feasts here at the cabin, so though the kitchen is small in comparison to many, there always seems to be enough room, and since the kitchen is open to the other common areas and has added bar seating and also, there is seating for 9 in the dining area, we have a wonderful entertaining cabin.
We put a great deal of focus into creating cozy bedrooms that welcome our guests to cuddle in each night and be greeted each morning by stunning mountain views. Our smaller upper bedroom is a guest and family favorite, with it's large picture windows; one with beautiful Timpanogos views, it's balcony and large private bath with soaking tub and yes ...huge Timpanogos views. In all, we have created what we feel is a beautiful and unique mountain retreat where couples and families will make amazing memories. We have many repeat guests each year and we thoroughly enjoy making people happy. Though we have not pleased 100% of our guests, we're we're pleased to report a solid 99.9%.
Thank you for your frank feedback. This will help guests in making their vacation lodging choices. It was also helpful for us to have an opportunity to respond.

Amazing attention to detail

  • 5 of 5
My family of 5 love the Sundance area and we visit often; having rented a number of different private homes as well as the Sundance resort condos. This home is our new favorite!

The lot is large and feels private; the location ideal and simply lovely. There is ample parking on a private circular drive, which is tastefully well lit, as is the entire exterior of the property, creating a beautiful ambiance at night. Extremely well maintained inside and out. The home was immaculate and so much artistic detail was put into each room. You really do feel like you are in someone's much cared for home and not a rental property. The master bedroom is on the main level with two separate bedrooms upstairs; allowing privacy for everyone when wanted. The beds were so comfortable, with luxury bedding and each bedroom had its own flat screen TV with satellite. All furniture, appliances and appointments of this home are high-end. The large decks of this home (5!) are beautifully appointed and allow a wonderfully private and quiet place to enjoy the breathtaking views! My kids loved the fire-pit, hot tub and grounds that they roamed each day discovering all kinds of wildlife; turkeys, birds, deer and of course, Lucille (the resident squirrel).

Trieste and Traci were wonderful to work with and very informative about the area and what was going on in Sundance during our stay.

Some of the things we did in Sundance:

We loved the Sundance summer theater production of "The Sound of Music" - the setting was perfect and an awesome experience for our kids to traverse up the mountain by lantern at the end of the play! The Foundry Grill was exceptional as always; well worth the $$. We hiked Stewart Falls by way of taking the chair-lift up and crossing over to the Falls and then back down to Sundance. A great hike with our kids-took us about 2 1/2 hours. Drove the Alpine Loop and saw a Moose!

We hope to return again to this magical home in the trees!
