NIFTY THRIFTY - AFFORDABLE, CONVENIENT HOTEL/MOTEL ALTERNATIVE!

Eugene House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Casual, affordable and oh so conveniently located, Nifty Thrifty is the answer for singles, couples and small families seeking elbow room on a visit to fun and funky Eugene. Park the car in the attached garage: Around the corner (29th and Willamette) you’ll find a gourmet market, and a variety of restaurants and shops. Bring a bike or take advantage of the two bus lines that are just steps from your door – either way, you’re within minutes of Fifth Street Market, the Hult Center, Saturday Market, the University of Oregon campus and Hayward Field, or Autzen Stadium. It’s only 20 minutes by car to the Lorane Valley wine country, less than 60 to the whitewater beauty of the McKenzie River, and less than 90 to hike or ski the Cascades. Nothing’s out of reach from this location!

The one-story 1950s-vintage house features two bedrooms, a full bath, hardwood floors, a fireplace, a private fenced and landscaped backyard (roses!) and a laundry. The full-sized kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you’ll need to pull together breakfast at the dinette or serve dinner in the dining room. If there’s business on your schedule, there’s a workstation in the master bedroom and WiFi throughout the house. The neighborhood is quiet, safe, friendly, and eclectic. You might hear the neighbor’s chickens softly clucking now and then, but don’t worry – no roosters!

Said a recent guest: 'Nifty Thrifty was the perfect choice...ideally located, close to shopping, public transit, the university, and Amazon Park with its bicycle & running trails, children's playground and a great dog park. The home is spotless with all the extras one could need, even a garage for the car. The back yard was perfect for our pooches, completely fenced with plants and lawn and a small patio with a table and chairs. The neighborhood is extremely quiet with very little traffic other than the local residents. All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased...and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a vacation rental in Eugene.'

The details:

• Queen-sized bed in the master bedroom.

• Full-sized bed in the second bedroom.

• Sofa-sleeper (queen) in the living room.

• Air bed and cot available for child use, with special owner permission.

• The house is ramp-equipped for handicapped access, though not all interior doorways are accessible.

• All linens and most cooking supplies are provided.

• Quiet dogs are welcome with owner permission.

With my husband and two teenage children, I've traveled the world -- always on a budget, preferring to spend my money on interesting locations and new experiences instead of luxurious lodging. I've brought my personal travel philosophy to Nifty Thrifty, where you'll have a place of your own with all the comforts of home. And, thanks to our very reasonable rates, you'll have the extra spending money you need to make your visit to Eugene and the Willamette Valley memorable. When you stay at Nifty Thrifty, you're not dealing with a distant owner. My family and I live just seven blocks away, and we're always happy to answer a question, solve a problem, or make a suggestion. Come visit us! We know you'll be pleased!

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

This house was in the family and just too sweet to let go. It's perfectly located for anybody coming to Eugene for any reason, and it's our pleasure to share it with you! Check our over 65 five-star reviews to see the many ways that Nifty Thrifty pleases its guests and leaves them promising to book again soon.

If you've ever wished you could be a local, just for the length of your stay, Nifty Thrifty lets you do that. Neighbors will nod and wave, you'll see a variety of people passing on bikes or on foot on this quiet street, and when you venture forth to shop or find a meal, you'll be taking the same steps your neighbors do day after day. Have a conversation at one of the two bus stops that are each less than a block away. Pick up your morning coffee at the bakery/deli, browse the farmer's market (in summer), select something delicious to bring home from the best markets in town, have a beer at the sushi bar or a cocktail at a stylish restaurant -- it's all just two blocks from your home-away-from-home!

Nifty Thrifty has everything you need for a comfortable stay in Eugene - and at a great price! The house is cozy, well-appointed, clean and accurately reflected the listing description. Being able to park in the garage was very convenient. The house is located close to restuarants and grocery stores and makes you feel that you are at home while you are away from home. The owner is easy to work with and very responsive. I hope to stay at Nifty Thrifty again when I return to Eugene and will recommend it to my friends and family.

Cozy Home Away From Home

Nifty Thrifty is a super clean house in an excellent Eugene location, one block from Willamette, a major north/south street in town. You are half a block from a city bus stop and a couple of blocks from the amazing Market of Choice, kind of a Whole Foods on steroids. Amazon Park with its always busy dog park and walkways is a couple of blocks away. Metropol and Barry's, two fantastic bakeries are very close too, as is Tasty Thai, a great Thai restaurant at the end of the block.

Ellen, the home owner, lives only a few blocks away and is available to answer any question or solve any problem you have. We stayed here a month and enjoyed getting to know Eugene and other sites in central Oregon.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Margaret! I can't imagine that any of my long-stay guests have trekked as far around the area or done as much as you two! I appreciate your kind words, and I think future guests will benefit from your summary of what Nifty Thrifty's location offers. Best wishes! --Ellen

My wife and I have now stayed at the Nifty Thrifty two times and each was a pleasure. We found every thing that makes one feel right at home while visiting from out of town. We have now recommended this home to friends that will be visiting their daughter who is a student in Eugene. We particularly enjoyed the close proximity to a wonderful food store and several restaurants. Also, the ability to have use of the attached garage for parking made for easy entry in wet weather. We would unreservedly recommend this as living up to it's name.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Tom and Chris, for your patronage and loyalty. I'm glad you made mention of Nifty Thrifty's great location -- it's not far from anything in town, and it's really close to some of Eugene's best shops and restaurants, including the gourmet grocery just a block from the house, Market of Choice. As you've found, it's a great location (at a great price) for anybody who needs to zip in and out of town for business, to visit friends or family, or just to catch a show or event! --Ellen

Perfect spot for our Christmas vacation

This was our second stay at Nifty Thrifty. Our whole family spent Christmas and New Years there this year and were very pleased with the accommodations. Not only was there plenty of room for the 5 us us, but it was cozy and decorated cute for Christmas. The kitchen is fully loaded with all the dishes, pots, pans and utensils you could possibly need. Plenty of sleeping room, blankets, pillows and towels. And the shopping and restaurants are just down the street. Also great for walking and biking. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Linda! It was great having you and yours. But when I picked up the roasting pan I loaned you, it was missing the prime rib! I kid. And I hope to see all of you again sometime soon! --Ellen
