A TV upstairs that streams Netflix exclusively, board games plus a table top hockey game, the kids only need to come down for meals. For mom and dad, luxury is in the details. With an oversized master and kingsized, four poster oak bed, rest easy and awake with blue skies peeking through the skylight over your bed. How romantic!

You'll feel right at home with a fully equipped kitchen with granite counters, TVs upstairs, in the master with streaming Netflix, in the living room, wireless Internet. With two good-sized bedrooms, a full bath, second TV and private deck on the second floor, the second floor becomes a private suite for a second couple or the kids. You'll find a queen bed and single bed and trundle upstairs to accommodate 4 guests. During the day, you'll appreciate the spacious living room with wood burning fireplace, the comfortable eat-in kitchen with all major appliances, and of course the wonderful rocking chair porch.

From the cabin, situated at an elevation of 3300 feet, visitors can walk to the top of Killian Knob at an elevation of almost 4000 feet. A wonderful creek tumbles through the cove formed below Killian Knob and can be enjoyed while hiking around the hollow.

Outdoor activities in and around Maggie include hiking, trout fishing, boating, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, bird watching, golfing, tubing, swimming, and downhill skiing. For the kids or young at heart try paintball, miniature golf, go-karts, ride on the Great Smoky Railroad, gem mining, visit Soco Garden Zoo, catch a movie. Visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

Surrounding Area: You will be only minutes from the Ingles, a wonderful grocery store in Waynesville. Waynesville is a quaint little artist community with unique restaurants and great one of a kind shops. You can be at the historic Biltmore Estate in Asheville in 30 minutes. Of course, Maggie Valley has its own unique flavor with wonderful shops, great food, and monthly events. You are 20 minutes from Harrah's Casino in Cherokee. About Donna Boxman

First visiting The Great Smoky Mountains around 1956, as an eight year old I could have never envisioned actually living close by. Now over 40 years later, my husband and I are the owners of a wonderful second home in Maggie Valley and regular visitors to the park. The photo to the left highlights Waterrock Knob just a short ride from Mystic Mountain to this spectacular sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Donna Boxman purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Donna Boxman chose Maggie Valley

Born in North Carolina, I have always had a love of this wonderful state. Once we visited Maggie the first time as a family we couldn't imagine a better place to have a second home. Maggie and the surrounding area have everything available to us that we enjoy doing, hiking, fishing, antiquing to name a few. My son and daughter, now adults, love to get away from it all at the cabin, one of the most peaceful places in our lives.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation! Enjoyed the cabin, especially the porch- we enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders and even a little chipmunk cane to eat the seeds the birds dropped! Beautiful weather - sunny days and very cool nights - Joey's was great as always. The cabin was so well equipped. We ate in most of the time. You have a very homey place. - thanks for sharing!

We pulled up about 4:30 pm and was just blown away
by the views, we took to the rocking chairs on the porch just to breathe in the fresh crisp air and listen to nature. The birds are are out and talking and animals are scurring
Well, we must unpack car & the cabin inside is just as beautiful outside. The skylights are awesome looking @ stars all night. The first am there we had snow and must
build fire can not wait to go back to Mystic Mtn have already told all our friends.

Lovely, restful mountain retreat.

  • 5 of 5
The house was beautiful and welcoming. It was stocked with everything you could want and more. A lovely welcome gift was waiting in the kitchen. Toiletries in each bathroom made it feel like a spa. Porches and windows gave a panoramic view of the mountains and surrounding area. Just a short ride down the mountain took us to downtown Maggie Valley or any where else we wanted to go. Games, books, TV, strong wifi connection gave all the comforts of home. Everything was clean and convenient. I would rate this lovely mountain retreat 5 stars for sure. Restful and relaxing. Thank you so much.

Felt like home only more beautiful!

  • 5 of 5
My family really enjoyed our visit. It was one of the few vacation places that felt like home. I was so grateful to be able to bring my dog. There was an easy place to take her out across the street after dark (with a provided flashlight), and a nice walk by the golf course during the day. We didn't have to worry about forgetting anything, because it had everything that you could need. The view from the porch is a beautiful mountain. Rockers were great for enjoying morning coffee and the table was the perfect lunch/dinner spot. Although we didn't need one, the fireplace was the perfect end to an evening.
As Donna suggested, we ate a delicious pancake breakfast at Joey's in Maggie Valley. The location is perfect too - a 30 minute drive to Smokey Mountain National Park and a 15 minute or so drive to Waynesville. We strolled around the downtown shops there during the day, and saw a play at Hart Theatre. The grocery store was surprising for a small town, with a fairly large deli, and many organic food options.
I can't say enough good things about the cabin and location and hope to stay again soon.

Mystic was exactly what we had hoped it would be!

  • 5 of 5
We found Mystic Mountain Cabin to be exactly what we had envisioned and looked for in a vacation destination. The cabin was inviting and cozy. I'm not sure what I enjoyed most...I'd say it was a toss up between rocking on the porch listening to the birds and the creek below and snuggling up under a blanket on the couch listening to the crackle of the fire. The kitchen had everything imaginable and we enjoyed cooking all of our meals there, with the exception of a couple of morning breakfasts at Joey's Pancake House. The beds were both very comfortable as well. The cabin is nestled in the trees and features a few skylights and a unique window in the great room that lets in the perfect amount of natural light. The location of Mystic Mountain Cabin was perfect too! The Blue Ridge Parkway is easily accesed off 19 just past the main drag of Maggie Valley. We went east/north one day, spending about 6 hours on the Parkway...it was SPECTACULAR! We went west/south one day too, into Great Smoky Mountain National Park. They were both wonderful drives, although I did enjoy the drive east/north better. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Maggie Valley and I cannot wait for our return visit to Mystic Mountain Cabin!

Mystic Mountain was everything the pictures described- We so enjoyed our week there. I reserved this place so my husband's parents would be able to return to the mountains for the first time in 5 years- The area was their favorite place and lots of memories were made there. 5 years ago my mother in law had a massive stroke and survived many trials to gain back all of her abilities. This was the first trip that she and my father in law have taken since her recovery. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and each their 80th birthday in August. We will never forget the family time we spent in the cabin as my husband and 26 year old son joined us for the weekend. My Son is moving away for the first time to another state and it was my husbands birthday on Sunday as well. The cabin was the perfect place if you like golf (my son played twice with it being only a mile down the road) shopping or taking day trips to the Parkway. It was the perfect resting spot and with the kitchen being FULLY stocked with everything needed to cook delishious meals it saved us lots of money! The porch was the best place to sit and talk in the evenings while looking at a glorious mountain in the back drop. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us.
