First visiting The Great Smoky Mountains around 1956, as an eight year old I could have never envisioned actually living close by. Now over 40 years later, my husband and I are the owners of a wonderful second home in Maggie Valley and regular visitors to the park. The photo to the left highlights Waterrock Knob just a short ride from Mystic Mountain to this spectacular sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Born in North Carolina, I have always had a love of this wonderful state. Once we visited Maggie the first time as a family we couldn't imagine a better place to have a second home. Maggie and the surrounding area have everything available to us that we enjoy doing, hiking, fishing, antiquing to name a few. My son and daughter, now adults, love to get away from it all at the cabin, one of the most peaceful places in our lives.
We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation! Enjoyed the cabin, especially the porch- we enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders and even a little chipmunk cane to eat the seeds the birds dropped! Beautiful weather - sunny days and very cool nights - Joey's was great as always. The cabin was so well equipped. We ate in most of the time. You have a very homey place. - thanks for sharing!
We pulled up about 4:30 pm and was just blown away
by the views, we took to the rocking chairs on the porch just to breathe in the fresh crisp air and listen to nature. The birds are are out and talking and animals are scurring
Well, we must unpack car & the cabin inside is just as beautiful outside. The skylights are awesome looking @ stars all night. The first am there we had snow and must
build fire can not wait to go back to Mystic Mtn have already told all our friends.
Awesome vacation getaway! The location was perfect. This is a home away from home. The value for what you get here is outstanding. Having a TV with Netflix, vhs movies and so many other options gave us a fabulous entertainment center for the kids. They looooooved it. Skiing Mountain is so close we couldn't have been happier with our stay, attention to detail made us feel like house guests instead of renters and the neighborhood was beautiful too. Instructions for the house were simple and easy to understand. I would recommend staying here to anyone! we'll definitely want to stay here again.
Mystic Mountain is a beautiful, super-clean and relaxing cabin. We were delighted to see that the pictures are a true depiction of the cabin. From the full kitchen to the living room with fireplace, this was extremely well equipped. It has everything you would ever want or need. It was like home away from home. There was a welcome package that was waiting on arrival. It is close to downtown Maggie Valley and is a nice location for traveling to different attractions in the Smokies. We have already told friends and family and will definitely return.
Woke up to winter wonderland on Thursday. Perfect in everyway.
The house was beautiful and welcoming. It was stocked with everything you could want and more. A lovely welcome gift was waiting in the kitchen. Toiletries in each bathroom made it feel like a spa. Porches and windows gave a panoramic view of the mountains and surrounding area. Just a short ride down the mountain took us to downtown Maggie Valley or any where else we wanted to go. Games, books, TV, strong wifi connection gave all the comforts of home. Everything was clean and convenient. I would rate this lovely mountain retreat 5 stars for sure. Restful and relaxing. Thank you so much.

My family really enjoyed our visit. It was one of the few vacation places that felt like home. I was so grateful to be able to bring my dog. There was an easy place to take her out across the street after dark (with a provided flashlight), and a nice walk by the golf course during the day. We didn't have to worry about forgetting anything, because it had everything that you could need. The view from the porch is a beautiful mountain. Rockers were great for enjoying morning coffee and the table was the perfect lunch/dinner spot. Although we didn't need one, the fireplace was the perfect end to an evening.
As Donna suggested, we ate a delicious pancake breakfast at Joey's in Maggie Valley. The location is perfect too - a 30 minute drive to Smokey Mountain National Park and a 15 minute or so drive to Waynesville. We strolled around the downtown shops there during the day, and saw a play at Hart Theatre. The grocery store was surprising for a small town, with a fairly large deli, and many organic food options.
I can't say enough good things about the cabin and location and hope to stay again soon.
