Tracy and her brother Chris discovered this wonderful, but neglected home in 2005. Though the home was showing its age of more than 100 years, the home's underlying grand and proud features were clearly evident. Drawing on Tracy’s passion for historic homes, her talents as a designer, and inspired by their late grandmother, the next several years were spent painstakingly bringing the house back to its stately origins, while making sure it was equipped with all of the present day conveniences.
'Our motto throughout the restoration was ‘quality takes time’, and we think its effects can be seen in the details throughout the home. Welcome to our home and the fantastic town of Walla Walla, Washington! '
Alexa Palmer purchased this house in 2005
We love Walla Walla!! We had a fun time wine tasting and bachelorette-ing! Thank you!
This house worked well for the 10 of us who stayed over the weekend. The house was very clean and provided comfortable living and dining spaces. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, etc for us to make our daily meals. We loved the extra touch of providing slippers for everyone! The bathroom door in the master bedroom didn't lock or shut all the way and the upstairs bath was very small so some folks ended up showering in our master bath instead. The house is on a main road but we didn't hear any road noise from the inside of the house and it did lend some fun entertainment for us people watching on the huge front porch. When visiting Walla Walla again with a big group we would look to stay in this house again.
Stayed here for thanksgiving with another family. Great house, warm, well appointed. Would definitely come back.
Had a mix of singles & couples stay at the James McCool house and found the size, location and overall amenities perfect for our group. Would stay here again and recommend.
The house was lovely and well appointed. The bedrooms, kitchen and living space were very nice. The noise from traffic in previous reviews is correct. The house is on a very busy corner and traffic is constant but with windows closed, tolerable. We did have a few technical glitches, i.e. coffeemaker did not work and refrigerator went kaput, but the property manager took care of it within 24 hours and she was very easy to deal with. I would stay here again.
The McCool home is large, updated and well cared for with generous sized rooms and a well-stocked kitchen with an eating area as well as a separate, more formal dining room. The living room is comfortably furnished and included DVDs that would appeal to a broad range of tastes. The outside patio area is very pleasant. The house is on the corner of two moderately busy streets and borders on a neighborhood that's a bit down trodden but overall it seemed safe. Perfect location for walking to downtown Walla Walla.
This is a nice home. I'm sure they've done a fair amount of renovating and it shows. The house doesn't feel tired. The furnishings are nice. The kitchen is well appointed. It was a great place for six college friends to gather and play a little golf. Despite the great restaurants in Walla Walla, we enjoyed the place so much, we decided to stay in and cook for ourselves. The only slight drawback would be that it's on a slightly busy street (busy for Walla Walla).
The James McCool House is located close to downtown Walla Walla, Washington. Enjoy ArtWalk, shopping on Main Street, visiting the numerous tasting rooms downtown and eating at the many gourmet restaurants. Enjoy a Shakespeare play at the newly renovated Power House Theatre or catch one of the numerous bands playing at downtown venues.
