Lakefront 3BR 1 BA Cottage

Great family vacation cottage on the NE shore of the peninsula of beautiful Little Platte Lake. This 3 bedroom home boasts 100' of direct lake frontage and is just 5 minutes from the the gorgeous sandy beaches of Lake Michigan. Little Platte Lake is wonderful for swimming and fishing, with clear water and a sandy bottom. This home includes the use of 4 kayaks and a rowboat for enjoying the lake! The property is adjacent to the amazing Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and just minutes from the charming lakeside towns of Empire, Glen Arbor, Beulah and Frankfort. Toast s'mores around the fire pit as you enjoy breath-taking sunset views over the lake. Swim, fish, boat or just listen to the loons call as you relax in the hammock at the water's edge. Look no further, this property can't be beat!

Cottage Details: The large island kitchen was renovated and includes hardwood floors, built-in microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, and ceiling fans. It is fully equipped with coffee maker, toaster, dishes, utensils and cookware. The dining area overlooks the lake with expansive picture windows and seating for 6 people. The bathroom was completely renovated in 2007 with a new stall shower, toilet, sink and flooring. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the 2nd bedroom has one set of bunk beds and a twin bed and also has a TV with DVD/VCR, and the third bedroom has a double bed. The spacious family room has a large denim sofa and matching love seat, wood burning stove, TV with DVD and large windows with lake views. The cottage has satellite TV service.

Outdoor Amenities: Outdoor amenities include 2 decks, a charcoal grill, patio furniture, and picnic table. There is a hammock, fire pit, and dock. The use of 4 kayaks and an aluminum rowboat is included with the rental. The nice sized yard is grassy down to the waters' edge.

Little Platte Lake is a beautiful 805 acre lake with a clear, sandy bottom and quiet natural beauty. It is great for fishing, swimming, and boating (4 kayaks and rowboat included with rental as well as a nearby boat launch). The home is in a wooded area, adjacent to the awesome Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore which was recently voted the 'Most Beautiful Place in America' by Good Morning America viewers! Its world-famous 'Dune Climb' and white sand beaches of Lake Michigan are just minutes away, in addition to fantastic hiking and biking, canoeing/tubing the Platte and Betsie Rivers, golf/ski, area wineries, the Cherry Bowl Drive-In theater, and mini-golf. The area boasts many quaint lakeside towns with wineries, shopping, arts & antiquing, dining, etc. It is truly a great family vacation spot with so much to do!

WOW. Just WOW

Okay, so where do I start? First off, this location was PERFECT. Peaceful, breathtaking, and relaxing. My girlfriend and I took a well needed weekend and I had been shopping for months for a spot for some time away. I found this place, and the rest was history. What was even better is the fact that the fall had just begun and all of the trees were turning colors. This location is perfect and there isn't a single soul in the area that isn't friendly. Never mind the fact that you are just a few minutes away from the Sleeping Bear Dunes, you can stay at the cottage and find plenty to do and enjoy! The house is the right size, the lake is quiet and breathtaking, and the on site amenities were just lovely. We went kayaking for the first time, built a fire, fired up the grill....all on the property itself. Talking about convenient ha? If you want the perfect time away, then email the Fox's and book this while you can! Believe me, no regrets will follow and I assure you, we are coming back.

relaxing on the lake

We just spent a couple of days in this very cozy cottage, with beautiful view on the lake. Everything is as promised on the pictures. The cottage is clean and the view is incredible. My husband, three daughters and I had a blast in the kayaks and my favorite spot was to hang out in the hammock and watch the beautiful sunset on the lake. Nearby Sleeping Bear National park and Traverse City! We would love to come back another time for a longer period of time!

We decided to go up a little later in the season just to get away, and could not be happier with our decision. The pictures do not do the views justice, one night we took almost 50 pictures of the sunset to try and capture the moment. Great yard with an already set up fire pit (not going to lie, more than one nap on the hammock as well). One day was rainy, but sitting in the living room with the huge windows looking out on the lake with a good book was the best rainy day I have had.
On the way home, we were already talking about when to head back next year and have told all of our friends about this wonderful place!

We can't say enough about our stay on Little Platte Lake! What you see is what you get with this cottage....an EXTREMELY clean, cozy place to rest your head as you explore the amazing Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. We were so close to everything we wanted to do. There are numerous low-key, family activities and sites to see in the area and this cottage is close to them all. The best part is, if you don't feel like leaving you have the well maintained yard, quality kayaks and equipment, heavenly hammock, and beautiful lake (shallow enough right off the dock for my 3 year old to swim in) to keep your whole family blissfully at peace and quietly entertained! We also had a very pleasant experience with the on-site property manager as well. We will definitely be back!
