Isla In June

We just returned from Casa Vive Con Fe and we had a great time. This was our second trip to Isla so we know and love the island and its rustic charm. Other reviews here point our many fun things to go and do, but we went to swim with the whale sharks which was truly an amazing experience.
The house was perfect for our family of four and exactly as described. The much needed AC (June) in the bedrooms performed admirably and the Wifi was flawless. The pool provided great relief and on the first night of a full moon about a dozen crabs provided entertainment on the patio. We enjoyed the views and the privacy.
The owner, Kyra, was very helpful and the local contacts Julie and Dean are great and the folks they use for golf carts, whale sharks and fishing were all excellent. Lots of iguanas, none in the house!
As someone involved in horse racing, I had to extract myself from a Buho's beach bar swing to go all the way over to Jax (a whopping three blocks!) to watch the Belmont Stakes on Saturday afternoon. The rest of the trip we were relaxed and disconnected except for when we wanted to plug in via Con Fe's Wifi. The provided cell phone was helpful as well for setting up excursions etc.
We enjoyed Zama, Sergios, Oscars, Brisas, Rolandi, Bally Hoo and Julie and Dean's new beach club plus much much more. Our children fell in love with guacamole.
If you want pristine and perfect, go to Bermuda or St. Barts, but if you like rustic and natural beauty, great beaches, fresh (reasonably priced) food, cold Mexican beer and super nice people plus a crazy fun shopping experience on Ave Hildalgo -- go to Isla Mujeres. If it's your first trip to Isla, rent this house, get a golf cart, get a map from the "Mapchick" and just explore this wonderful island. Don't miss the tikinxic, it's awesome!
