Pelican Reef is a real beach house, ideally located on the fringes of Playa Lechi, at the very rim of the Caribbean Sea. The center of Kralendijk, Bonaire’s main village, is hardly a 15 minute walk away, as are most of the activities as well as the main restaurants.
The house itself, carefully tucked away in lush tropical greenery, could be described as casual and intimate. The interior is plain and simple: island style with colonial accents and an occasional splash of Caribbean color.
Being a private residence, the house is equipped with all amenities and comfort you could wish for during your stay.
Pelican Reef is all about easy outdoor living: a constant airy breeze provides the perfect temperature. The spacious porch (45m2) offers plenty of shade, there is a nice sun-deck (50m2) with loungers, deck chairs, and a hammock. Our swim dock allows you to slip straight into the turquoise Caribbean Sea to have a swim or have a nice dive at our 'home' reef Something Special.
But the main feature is without any doubt the peace and quiet this idyllic house has to offer... with your own private beach to enjoy fantastic sunsets and starry moonlit skies.
Frankly the only things to pack are swim wear and snorkeling gear!
Keywords: Beach House, Villa, at one of the best spots on Bonaire, close to centre of Kralendijk.
The location of Pelican Reef is unique.

My thoughts began as prose... but your photos awoke sensation and the words and images began to form more like a poem
I am not a poet but feel free to use my entry if it would be of help to you and PR.
Peacefully, tranquilly, the water gently serenades the night,
as light cast from the tiniest sliver of moon dances -Monet-like- upon the sea surface.
Surrounded otherwise in solitude and silence,
you now dangle your four legs from your pier into warm water,
You are sipping your Rioja, and your love - her Cognac.
You have arrived.
You wish/dream time stand still, and, for a lovely week, it does.
And every year, you promise yourself more:
Knowing that a week is too short; indeed even a life…
Hush, silence; you fear to share this secret with your friends:
You want/need this place/piece of peace
Always available for you two..two alone.
Be still brain! Be kind.
Others need the sun, sea, surf, silence,
Moon, peace, solitude, tranquility,
Water, warmth, wonder, love…
Have a heart, share.
After all, Kees does..
Pelican Reef! .
Happy New Year!
Tim and Linda, 2010 à 2011
We've been to Pelican Reef the last several years over the Christmas/New Year holidays.
We've looked around at other places, but have yet to find one that we think would beat it.
The location is perfect with a short walk or kayak to town, close to the marina and our favorite dive site just outside. Its also convenient to the grocery stores and to Dive Friends at either Yellow Sub or Hamlet Oasis.
We love the outdoor living space and cook nearly all of our meals in (and on the bbq). The kitchen, wifi, etc all worked well (I don't think we've ever turned on the TV). The grounds are well kept and we've never felt unsafe.
Already booked for next year!
We were guests in the Pelican Reef beach house on our first stay in Bonaire (and first time in the Caribbean), and it was just the perfect welcome to the island. The house it's simply gorgeous, spacious and comfortable inside, and with a huge patio and private beach outside. We were enjoying our meals on the outside table with stunning views of the sea and Kleine Bonaire just in front, and sunbathing on the deck. We also enjoyed the company of Mamy the cat, but unfortunately we also had to deal with other animal guests (namely mosquitos) which were there in huge quantity (partly for the season and partly for the many plants in the garden which were acting as reservoirs). Mark was very welcoming and helpful at the beginning and the end of our stay as well. Will come back for sure!
Just returned from our 10th visit and are already thinking about next year. Mark the caretaker was excellent. We fed the house cat and also a very large land crab who cleaned up the left overs of cat food.
We enjoyed the house, and the short swim to the great spot for viewing fish. We also enjoyed some of the opportunities in the neighborhood - Bistro de Paris, Pizza, Between2buns, Sea Cow Snorkeling, Eden Beach Caribe Watersports, Yellow Submarine. The toaster oven wasn't working, but this is a minor problem. Its unfortunate Bonaire seems to have had an increase in petty thefts and crime.
The Playa Lechi wireless internet connection seemed weak at some times.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Such a beautiful place and what a great view of the ocean, even better than the pictures! We spent most of our week at the place lounging around, enjoying the view, snorkeling, and having barbecue. It was very private but when we felt like it it was in walking distance to the small town nearby which had plenty of restaurants. You could probably get away with not having a car and walking to and from the town all week but we did decide to rent one so we could explore the rest of the island. We saw the national park and jibe city. We loved bonaire and we loved this place and we would definitely love to come back again. Coming here is one of the best decisions I have made it was perfect for us!
The perfect tropical getaway! Private, quiet (most of the time, depended on what the neighboring renters were up to), great snorkeling/diving just off the deck. Wish we had 2 months rather then 2 weeks to stay. Enjoyed cooking in some nights and going out others. The house had everything needed for cooking, BBQ's, cocktails. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing scuba gear and ourselves after ocean adventures. Loved taking naps in the hammock! Even read several books (left some to add to the library of both English and Dutch Books). Spent our last evening snorkeling until the sunset and then going out to "Appetite" which was our favorite restaurant on the island.
