Every room has a spectacular view over the royal fish ponds and gardens at the blue Pacific. Unwind in over 1400 square feet of designer perfect tropical, Asian decor. Turn off the central A.C. and let the trade winds flow through your villa. The privacy and quiet of this location are legendary. Extensive remodel finished May,2010. TWICE WEEKLY MAID SERVICE. You may choose to eat out at the four award winning restaurants next door at the Mauna Lani Hotel. Or, you may cook a meal in the gourmet, fully equipped kitchen in your beautiful villa. About Dave & Sandy

Dave and Sandy have been the proud owners of Mauna Lani Terrace H303 since June, 2003. We use it for a second home also. By staying in it as often as possible, Sandy can continue to think of ways to make it more comfortable and luxurious. She has supervised the extensive remodeling over the past two years. As 35 year residents of West Hawaii, we have a unique insight into what pleases visitors to our Paradise. About 50% of our rental days are return guests. Many of them had already discovered Mauna Lani Terrace. Once they stay in H303, they virtually always return to it.

Why Dave & Sandy chose Mauna Lani

In June of 2003 we sold a beach property in California and needed to replace it with a property on the Big Island. Since I was a real estate broker here since 1979, I had a unique knowledge of every luxury condo complex on the Kohala coast and knew that nothing compared to Mauna Lani Terrace. Sandy and I toured the 7 or 8 Terrace condos for sale at the time. We will never forget the day that we opened the door of H303. We could see down the hall through the living room we saw a view that took our breath away, the most beautiful ocean view that we had ever seen. It was love at first sight. Sadly, it was the most expensive of all of the condos that we viewed. More then we thought we could afford. However, with my many years of experience negotiating real estate, we miraculously made the deal. To this day, when we walk through the front door of that exquisite condo, we still can't believe it is ours. We love to share it with our dear guests, many of whom have become long time friends.

What makes this condo unique

Number 1 is the view. No other condo can boast an equal view of the ocean, fish ponds and palm trees. Every room has a view. The H building is considered the prime location in the Terrace. It is a 7 minute walk to the right to the Mauna Lani Hotel with it's restaurants and the white sand beach in front of it. A 7 minute walk to the left takes you by the royal fish ponds to the beautiful white sand horse shoe shaped bay with pristine coral reefs and multitudes of colorful reef fish and turtles. A 2 to 3 minute walk takes you to the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and barbecue area. The top floor location of H303 affords the maximum privacy, security and view. Ground floor units have no privacy or security from people walking by and looking in. Being a corner unit, there is a view, sunlight and ventilation from the side providing a much more open airy feeling. Tastefully decorated with an Asian-tropical flair. 100 year old antique Chinese hutch. We have been upgrading H303 from the day of purchase. New porcelain tile throughout the condo,imported hand made wool rug from Nepal, new kitchen with new Bosch washer and dryer, new Thermador oven-microwave,GE Profile 5 burner glass cook top,granite counters, tile back splash. Since one of Sandy's passions is baking and cooking,the gourmet kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. Bathrooms, new tile on walls and glass blocks to let more light in. Master shower completely replaced with larger designer shower.Paid local artist $1000 to design and etch glass shower door with unique floral design.New flat screen TVs in living room and bedrooms. Wireless internet connection.Our housekeepers, Susan and Chris have been with us for many years and are not only employees, but family.We have had more then one guest try to steal them and take them home to do their housekeeping.They are honest, reliable are immaculate cleaners.

As good as it gets!!!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful condo for 6 nights in December 2014. From the time we arrived we felt right at home. This condo has the most amazing views of the fish pond and the ocean, as well as the grounds which are very well taken care of. You can tell that this condo is well taken care of and is very clean. The private beach access makes a quick trip to the water very convenient with great snorkeling and wonderful covered beach lounges, with the bar and grill right behind the beach for that afternoon Mai Tai. We watched whales every day from the lanai and you can hear the ocean at night if you leave the sliding door open. I love the location because you are really close to the Kohala beaches (hapuna, 69, mauna kea, anaho'omalu). We have been to the big island 14 times and this is without a doubt the nicest property we have ever rented. If you are planning the trip of a lifetime and need a condo to match look no further, you have found it!!

Perfect for a family

We just returned from our third visit to Dave and Sandy's exceptional vacation rental, but we couldn't bring ourselves to leave without booking a fourth visit. We have stayed in a lot of beautiful resorts in Hawaii, but this resort and condo are by far our favorites.

If your family prefers a lot of resort activities (hula lessons, pool games, crowds of kids), you may prefer one of the other, busier Kohala resorts. If you are looking for beauty, relaxation, and lots of good family time, this is the perfect spot.

Dave and Sandy stock this home with everything you need for a great vacation. The closest beaches are within view and a five minute walk. The pictures don't lie... This place IS that beautiful, and you can hear the ocean from the lanai. If you want to eat out, there are several good restaurants within a short drive (our favorites are the Blue Dragon, Lava Lava Beach Club, Kona Brewing Company, and the Napua Beach Club, which is just a short walk from the condo.) if you want to cook, buy some fresh fish and really good local produce at the Foodland nearby and reserve a grill at the resort; it is a really lovely spot to have an al fresco dinner and so easy with the kids.

One thing to note: the rules at the swimming pool are pretty strict... You aren't supposed to make loud noises, play pool games, or bring kickboards or other toys into the pool. This is a nice ruled for those condos overlooking the pool, because it keeps things quiet and peaceful. But, it can be pretty tough for kids who like to play in the pool.

Better than ever!

We just returned from our sixth stay at Dave and Sandy's lovely condo, and our trip could not have been better! Not only is the penthouse condo itself serene and quiet (a must for me!), but the private beach club offers an idyllic and secluded cove in which to snorkel (best spot on the island!) with no crowds. Where else in the world can you float in warm blue water with a view of three volcanoes -- Haleakala (on Maui), Kohala and Mauna Kea? Look no further if you're planning a vacation on the sunny Gold Coast of the Big Island: This nicely updated, clean, comfortable and conveniently located condo -- with its incomparable views and easy access to great golf and restaurants -- is truly as good as it gets!

I was concerned that the photos and reviews would be too good to be true – but the place is that great and the owner was wonderful as well. This was our first VRBO rental – March of 2009. We arrived after dark and woke up to an amazing view. There is a Costco south of the airport which helped control expenses. I can’t imagine anyone not being thrilled with this rental.

The Very Best Condo on the Kohala Coast

This is my second review. The first one, I wrote two years ago. Since that time, we have come to H303 twice--last May of 2013 for two weeks to celebrate my sister and her husband's 30th wedding anniversary (glorious!) and just recently in November for one week with some friends.

Again, I must stress that this lovely living space--with its Zen decor and panoramic 180 degree view of the ocean, ponds, and green space--can rarely be duplicated on this island for the price. Dave and Sandy are personable and available by phone or email almost immediately. From the main lanai (which they upgraded this fall to a little bar with stylish backsplash) you can see the Mauna Lani Hotel glittering with lights at night, watcg the Mauna Lani Terrace pool light up like a turquoise kidney bean, and hear the waves slamming on the shore.

We are coming back this March with our family and have rented the condominium below H303; however, my husband and I are staying upstairs in gorgeous H303!!

This time, we played four rounds of golf, three at Mauna Lani and one at Mauna Kea and had our finest meal of the week at Mauna Kea's Manta Ray.

The housekeepers, Chris and Susan, are complete professionals. I wish I could import them to the mainland so they could clean our home here!

Luxurious Living on the Kohala Coast

As a corner unit, there are windows on three sides, views galore. You see a long stretch of ocean, a close-up view of the natural lava fish ponds, the beaches at Mauna Lani Resort, the Terrace pool, and sloping green lawns. Pond watching from the lanais is a spectator sport: fish jump out of the water, collect into flashing silver schools and race away from the fishing bird that touches down twice a day. The entrance to H303 is a breezy exterior stairway with flowers and trees in an open atrium to the side. The decor and furniture are elegant and comfortable. The ocean views and cool breeze from the kitchen window make cooking and washing up a delight. This unit has every tiny thing you need in the kitchen, comfortable lanai furniture, luxurious beds and a vaulted ceiling in the living room with louvered openings to increase airflow. Susan, the housekeeper embodies the aloha spirit with her big, friendly smile. There's no other word for it, H303 is perfect! On a side note, Monstera Sushi at The Shops of Mauna Lani is the best Japanese food I've ever had. Most diners are locals, the interior is visually-pleasing simplicity and the service was impeccable.
