The business was started in January 2009 and it's mission is to provide secure, private, comfortable, accommodation to sledding groups, retreats and families visiting the Valemount area. The rates when split between a group of four to eight people are as reasonable or better than that of renting a hotel room, especially when you take into account the ability to bring your own food, prepare your own meals and share stories of your days adventures around the cozy fireplace before turning into your own comfortable queen sized bed for the night. Joe Garay, #416-1500 McDonald Ave., Fernie, BC, V0B 1M1 purchased this house in 2009
I transferred to Valemount BC in 1994 with my work. In 1996 I purchased 160 acres and had my dream home built by a local custom log home builder. My intention was to retire in this beautiful location. Unfortunately I was transferred from Valemount with my work. My business partner and I recognized a need for accommodations for groups and families visiting the Valemount area where after a day of Rocky Mountain adventures they could come back to a comfortable home rather than a small hotel room. So in 2009 we completely furnished the home from top to bottom with eight comfortable queen beds and all the amenities a person needs to feel like they are at home away from home. It has given us the opportunity to share this little piece of heaven with all of our wonderful guests.
Privacy and Security are the two things that you will have when staying at Packsaddle Creek lodge since it is located in the centre of its own 160 acre parcel of land at the end of a long gated driveway. No constant vehicle traffic noises, just the sounds of the birds and Packsaddle Creek flowing by in the distance. Packsaddle Creek Lodge is a great place to base yourself while undertaking all of the great activities offered through the various tourist operators based out of Valemount, which is only a short 10 km away. Valemount, BC, is a friendly Village of approximately 1200 people nestled between the Rockies, Monashee and Premier mountain ranges. The wonderful mountainous terrain and deep powder snow conditions makes Valemount a destination spot for many snowmobile enthusiasts as well as heli skiers from around the world. Valemount is also the final destination for the longest salmon run in BC. Chinook salmon travel approximately 800 kilometers up the mighty Fraser river to reach their final destination near Valemount and can be observed from August through beginning of September in Swift creek, which flows through the Village of Valemount. Starratt Marsh Bird Sanctuary at the south end of the Village has wonderful hiking trails, canoeing opportunities and of course bird watching platforms for the bird watching enthusiast in your group. Kinbasket lake/Reservoir, is located just south of Valemount and has a marina approximately 26 km south of the village where you can launch your boat and take advantage of the wonderful fishing and sight seeing opportunities this beautiful lake/reservoir, has to offer. Or contact one of the local rafting companies and take a white water adventure or slow drift on the mighty Fraser River. Valemount also has a wonderful museum, make sure that you drop in for a visit and learn the history of this beautiful valley.
We have come for a week each year and hate to have to leave each time. This is such a wonderful vacation home with such an incredible view. I wish I could wake up to such beauty everyday!.
The cabin is wonderful with enough room for everyone and nicely appointed. The location is fantastic for the peace and tranquility or for those who want to partake in winter sports. At night the stars are amazing and I could actually hear my ears ringing from the peace and quiet. I love this place.
Joe and allan are wonderful hosts and we could not ask for anything more.
I would highly recommend this place for any Rest and Relaxation that is needed with a view like this it really recharges your soul.
This home was perfectly appointed, from the kitchen accessories, to the comfortable beds; not to mention the hot tub and amazing 360 degree mountain views! We will not hesitate to stay again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful log home; and being so easy to deal with.
We are four friends travelling from the UK, on arrival in Valemont we were met by Joe & Allan, Packsaddle Creek is a few minutes drive from the town. Allan gave us a guided tour of the house and answered our questions, Joe kindly chopped logs for our numerous fire pit fires. The property is terrific, very clean and well organized, furnishings and equipment are of excellent quality. The kitchen is well fitted out and has everything you need (and more) for preparing a snack or a gourmet meal. The wi-fi worked well all over the cabin along with all other multi-media equipment. Upstairs, the bedrooms are spacious and the beds comfortable and there is plenty of wardrobe/drawer space.
The bathrooms are well appointed and have plenty of towels available. Our friends used the ground floor bedroom and bathroom which were equally well fitted. We didn’t use the large downstairs space but it was all set up and ready for use. Also downstairs is a utility room housing a washer and dryer. We loved using the hot tub after getting back from our many hikes. The tub is very clean and well maintained. There is doorpad entry, which is always welcome, no messing about collecting/posting keys and you never get locked out!
The views from the inside and outside of the property are incredible, Canoe Mountain is beautiful especially with a snow covering. The wide wooden balcony runs all around the cabin with a large dining table and chairs for comfortable 'el fresco' dining.
Packsaddle stands entirely in its own grounds and walking down to the lake is a must, there are also many walks & hikes just a few minutes walk from the property.
Valemont is a small town that has everything you need, the grocery and liquor store are well stocked and there are several coffee and individual shops. We didn’t use any of the restaurants as we preferred to eat at Packsaddle Creek and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Packsaddle Creek is great, you will not be disappointed, whether you enjoy the ‘great outdoors’ or you just want to ‘chill out’
Finally, the booking, directions and arrival information were very well executed and it was a pleasure to meet and deal with Joe & Allan.
