Great place for a family
This cottage is reasonably priced and has everything you need. We just returned from a week at Fieldstone Cottage and it was wonderful. Jack and Nancy are perfect hosts - friendly and available but not intrusive. The yard is huge and at night you can see every star in the universe (ok, I'm exaggerating but the view is fantastic).
It was extremely hot and humid while we were there (unusual for Northern Michigan) so we were glad we brought several fans to supplement the ones that are already there.
The kitchen is well outfitted with pots, pans, dishes, etc. There is even a hand mixer and a blender, along with loaf pans, cookie sheets and a corkscrew! The place was clean, in good condition, attractively decorated. Everything was as described, the owners provided good communication ahead of time, and Lake Michigan was straight down the road about a mile. The lake there was rocky so bring your water shoes!
There is a general store just a mile away and it has just about anything you can imagine - hardware, gas, beer, liquor, wine, bread, canned products, fresh produce, etc. Across from the store is a place with firewood - $10 got us enough wood for 5 fires.
As you can tell, I really enjoyed this place. It isn't for those who are expecting luxury accommodations, but for those who just want a good place to stay for a week, especially with a family (we had my brother's family and mine there), it is perfect.
