Jost Van Dyke Villa Rental Photos and Description
Villa, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Jost Van Dyke, also known as the Barefoot Island, is the fourth largest of the British Virgin Islands. It is home to some of the more famous beaches and beach bars in the Caribbean, including Foxy's and the Soggy Dollar Beach Bar. The house is located on the quiet east side of the island, overlooking many smaller islands and cays (Sandy Cay, Sandy Spit, Green Cay, Little Jost Van Dyke). Your arrival to the house will probably be by water taxi, and is the beginning of a memorable and relaxing vacation.
You will be met at the dock by our caretaker, who will assist you with your luggage and provisions and transport you the short drive up the hill to the house. From here you will encounter far reaching views, welcoming ocean breezes and a serene sense that all your troubles are far behind you.
Two of the three bedrooms are situated in a two storey unit (one upstairs and one downstairs), each with its own en-suite and an upstairs living room with TV, DVD's, etc. Both bedrooms open up onto large wooden decks which wrap around the unit. This deck extends out to the pool area where sun loungers, rocking chairs, bbq, and a 270 degree view of ocean and islands await you. The third bedroom is in a seperate unit and consists of a kingsize bed with study and en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and shower. This bedroom has wrap around glass windows with views over the ocean. The kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances. A sitting area with butcher block counters and teak bar stools separates the kitchen from the second living room. Three sets of double doors lead out to another large deck where you will find the covered dining area.
A dinghy is available as a complementary service for those wishing to explore the surrounding islands and beaches. All beach bars and restaurants on Jost are accessible by boat. The mangroves in the bay are a wonderful, safe place to explore on a kayak. One can also kayak, hike or dinghy to nearby beaches and restaurants. Kayaks are available to all our guests. Or, if the mood takes you, lie at the poolside while sipping on cocktails.
Jost Van Dyke has its very own dive shop if you are an avid scuba diver, or looking to get certified. There are some great dive locations nearby.
The shallow 'flats' in the adjacent bay are considered the second best place in the BVI for fly fishing.
Provisioning can be done individually or online. Just ask for details.

About Cathryn Hempel
In 2003 my husband and I purchased a house on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. We have since completed extensive renovations, creating what is now a beautiful luxury vacation home, with lots of added creature comforts to ensure that being on an out-island doesn't necessarliy mean roughing it. The main form of transportation to and from the villa is by boat, which creates an exciting and diverse lifestyle.

Why Cathryn Hempel chose Jost Van Dyke
Jost Van Dyke is the perfect place to have a vacation rental. The island is frequented by a multitude of sailboats and charter yachts on a daily basis and has some amazing beaches and beach bars. Vacationers come from far and wide to sail our waters and soak up the relaxed atmosphere on the beaches of Jost.
What makes this villa unique
Snorkeling the unspoiled reef in front of our property offers some wonderful sightings of sea life, including turtles, stingrays and hundreds of colorful tropical fish and corals. The nearby islands offer some exciting day trips on the dinghy. Sipping cocktails on the pool deck while the sun sets over the ocean and the pelicans swoop for their supper, one is inclined to believe that life can't get any better. Getting on a boat to transport us to and from the property is truly unique. Personally, my favorite time of the day is early morning, when I get to spend some quiet time doing yoga on the shaded pool deck.
Guestbook comments from the owner
The Great House Villa exceeded our expectations - what a fantastic home you have in the Caribbean. Saga is without a doubt a gem. He always stopped by in the mornings to check in on us and even let us use his cell phone to make local calls as our Canadian cells couldn't get out. One evening we walked over to Little Harbor for lobster dinner and Blossom introduced herself to us. You are very fortunate to have such wonderful help to look after the villa and your guests. Thank you, Debbie.
