Honokowai House Rental Photos and Description
1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4
This intimate condo has been described as a honeymoon haven. There is no one above you, and there are brick walls for added privacy. It’s a quiet resort with many of the units owner occupied or used as time share units by snowbirds. There is an A/C unit in the bedroom, but we rarely use it. We prefer the trade winds blowing and the sounds of surf at night.
Walking in the front door, you are immediately drawn to the expanse of the mighty Pacific Ocean with the water only 40 feet off your front lanai. There is a table and chairs on the lanai, and that is where we always eat our meals. It doesn’t get any better! The island of Molokai is to your north, and the island of Lanai is to your south. Of course you can eat inside if you wish.
The unit comes tastefully decorated in Hawaiian style. The petrography on 2 walls are painted reproductions reflecting the petrography of the ancient Hawaiians. These are actually reproductions of the 900 year old carvings found south of Lahaina. The sofa bed makes into a queen, and there is a flat screen TV in the living room. All linen, beach towels and paper goods are supplied. There is a laundry facility on the grounds with large sized washers.
From November through May you can enjoy the Humpback Whales right from the lanai! Bring you binoculars, for though they come close to shore, it is something else to experience 80,000 pounds “up close and personal.”
There are Giant Green Sea Turtles right in front of our unit. I have never once failed to swim with them. If you swim slowly and keep your arms to your side, they don’t mind you “hanging out” with them while they forage in the rocks. They are protected, so don’t touch them. We can transfer diseases to them. However, they do bump into you sometimes even though you try to keep your distance. Take an underwater camera with you when you snorkel or swim. It’s unbelievable!
