From a very young age my parents instilled me with a deep abiding love of travel and experiencing new cultures. Growing up in Texas, we would routinely travel to places that my schoolmates didn't even dream of, places like Turkey, Morocco, Guatemala, and the USSR. So different was my idea of a vacation than that of my peers, that when my parents took me to Disneyland when I was nine that I immediately wanted to leave and experience something more unique. I have maintained this love of travel throughout my life, and I have been blessed to explore a myriad of unique destinations and meet many wonderful people along the way.
Colleen Phalen Marin purchased this condo in 2002
Marin del Mar represents the confluence of my passion for travel, and sharing with others. This place is a labor of love in which I have tried to capture some of the beauty and mastery of Balinese culture and craftsmanship in the heart of Mexico. After purchasing the property, my son and I traveled to Bali to find furniture and art that could bring a bit of Balinese artisan flair to Mexico. Furthermore, I have lived in Mexico for many years now, and during that time I have become passionate about supporting the local artists in their craft. Therefore, much of the artwork in the condo comes from the painters and sculptors in the area. This combination of Balinese and Mexican gives Marin del Mar a distinct yet homey feel.
Aside from relaxation on the beach and the many outdoor activities in the area, Marin del Mar offers spectacular sunset views. From the patio, you can marvel in the oranges, reds, and pinks and watch as the surrounding mountains fade from green to indigo as the sun sets over the Pacific. If you're awake exceptionally early, you can watch the sun rise over the eastern mountains, basking the underlying city of Puerto Vallarta in a golden glow.
