STUNNING ONE BEDROOM SUITE IN HEART MARAIS, SLEEP 4 PEOPLE

The apartment was a first experience renting from VRBO in a foreign country. The location was what attracted us. We are an older couple, visiting family and were looking for a three week+ rental. We wanted to be on a lower level, wanted a walk-in shower. Both the owner and the manager were very helpful, and we enjoyed the unit thoroughly. Any problems that arose were taken care of. The unit was quiet and private, recently remodeled in a highly efficient manner; places for everything once you figured it out. It was very small, we only used the kitchen facilities for breakfasts. The downstairs entry appeared to be original, had not been renovated but presented no problems. We loved the area, being so close to so much of interest yet private and secluded.

The Marais is one of the rare parts of Paris to have escaped the demolitions of Baron Haussmann in the 19th century. Some of the medieval/16-18th century cityscape survives there. The apartment is small but very clean, well equipped and the agency very reliable and helpful. Modest cooking possible. No shortage of good delis and restaurants nearby, Camille in the Rue Vieille du Temple is an excellent old-style restaurant. Good bakers but, sadly, no true pastrycooks, only the ubiquitous boulangers-patissiers. Best pastry in the area is the remarkable tiny hole in the wall Portuguese "Comme a Lisbonne" 37 Rue du roi de Sicile, nearby: they sell only the Portuguese custard tarts:

We've just left Paris and were very pleased with the apartment. Since this was our first rental on VRBO, we were a little reluctant about renting directly with an owner, but everything went very smoothly. The owner and flat manager were extremely helpful and personable, and were in touch via email prior to our stay. The apartment was exactly as advertised.

The apartment itself is very small, but perfectly comfortable for a couple and a much better option than hotel rooms in Paris. Although small, it is cleverly designed and well-equipped. Everything we needed was provided including all kitchen supplies, hair dryer, and basic toiletries. The apartment has wifi which worked perfectly and free international phone calls. The renovation of the apartment was beautiful -- there is a living room with a kitchen area (including small appliances, dishwasher, stove-top, refrigerator, etc.) with large windows. The view is of a courtyard and the roof of an adjacent building, but it was very quiet and peaceful. The bedroom area is separated from the living area by a glass wall with two glass doors and curtains for privacy. The bed is extremely comfortable. The bathroom is directly behind the bedroom, so while the apartment can accommodate more than two guests, it is best suited for a couple. Given the small space, the layout of the bathroom is really the only downside to the apartment. The shower and sink are accessible from one side of the bedroom while the toilet is accessible through the other side of the bedroom, requiring you to walk through the living room to go from one to the other. There are several small closets with shelves, but the only closet where you can hang clothes is in the kitchen area. We didn't find this to be a problem, but it is worth noting.

The apartment is on a very quiet street in a lively and friendly neighborhood with many restaurants, patisseries, shops, etc. The St Paul metro is just a couple of blocks away. Immediately around the corner from the apartment is a Marché Franprix (supermarket). The location is great - very walkable and centrally located.

We very much enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this apartment.
