This house is On one of the most beautiful coastlines on the big island of Hawaii
You will feel very relaxed staying here and enjoying the views and the sounds of the ocean waves from your private lanai.
Flew over from Honolulu for Merry Monarch weekend. Had a wonderful time. Very spacious. Lots of kitchen space, but could have used a few more mixing bowls, a rice cooker, more cooking utensils and a bigger coffee maker. The tv was too small for the size of the living room. A few more seating chairs in the living room other than one single couch, would have been more comfortable. Looking forward to possibly coming back next year.
My husband and I just came back from a six-day vacation on the Big Island in Hilo. I originally requested for one of Gary's other cottages but they were sold out that week, so he let us have this beautiful oceanfront property with 360-degree view of the Pacific Ocean. If you are lucky enough, you might see whales in the early morning, which we did!! I enjoyed waking up to the sound of the ocean, eating breakfast (courtesy of my husband;), and having coffee in the balcony right outside of the master bedroom. Gary and his son Corey were very attentive to our needs, including changing the timer of the water heater based on our schedule!! Thank you, Gary, for the most amazing vacation! The house was clean and well maintained. We love to hike so went to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Akaka Falls (which is literally walking distance, about 3 miles from the house), explored downtown Hilo, Farmer's Market, went to church (St. Joseph), Mauna Kea (13,796 ft above sea level), Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden (a must see!!), Queen Liliuokalani Gardens AND most importantly, a day trip to Costco on the other side of the island (Kona)! I say this because we love Costco;>. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. This house would be best for families attending a wedding or special event, or family reunion. We liked it because it is off the beaten path, yet close enough to everything that we wanted to do. If you are flying into Hilo, make sure you buy your groceries first before checking into the property, so you don't have to drive back to town. I recommend KTA Super Stores in E Puainako St. Also, check YELP.com for the best restaurants. I can't wait to come back!!!
