About Kathleen Boeche

Aloha! We'd like to introduce ourselves so that you will feel even more comfortable in our Kona home - where we will eventually retire. We love Kona for the warm weather, slower pace, beautiful flowers and lots of sunshine. The Big Island is a magical place as you will see when visiting. We met in the 1970s and married in 1980 in Fontana, Calif. We have 2 children Jennifer 33 and Christopher 31. For the past 18 years we have been living in Nevada where we own and operate Dairy Queens. We also have a bed and breakfast inn in Fort Collins, Colorado: Inn at City Park. When not working or traveling, Kathy enjoys reading, working out, quilting and going to the latest movies. She is also an avid basketball fan of either college or NBA. Steve has a passion for golfing, running, laying out at the beach and, like Kathy, basketball. We hope you will enjoy staying at our La'oloa Vacation Home. It is filled with the spirit of the island - serenity, renewal and, of course, love. Steve & Kathy Boeche

Why Kathleen Boeche chose Kailua Kona

When you think of Hawaii, you think of warmth, sand and sea. Although the Big Island (as locals call it) provides all climate zones found on the planet, we chose this warm, sunny and usually drier area for our home.

What makes this house unique

Its conveniently located to the necessities of life and the amenities of aloha!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for the pleasant week at your Kona place. We had a grand time. Hawaii is truly a wonderful place. Your home was ideal for us. We trust that you found it returned to you in tip top shape. We solved the initial warmth trapped in the house with the fans and evening cooling so there was no need for air conditioning. It certainly was a great week which went by all too fast such that we are now back in rainy Oregon, where we may again see the sun by July 4. Thanks

We stayed over the ironman period the house was ideal for 5 people .
lanai perfect for breakfast & evening cocktails
The BBQ area was excellent and the house was more than fully equipped with lots of extras, beach chairs, umbrellas. Etc.etc.
The only downside really was the access to town ,the athlete was training @ 4.30 am everyday so took the car the rest of us were stuck or walking downhill to the shuttle bus with very limited service along Ali drive until he got back about 2 pm.
This isn't a criticism of the property it was excellent
Just our circumstances

Beautiful home in great location! Loved the fact that the house has beach towels, ice chest, chairs and other things to bring to the beach. We were there for our daughter's wedding, so not a lot of extra room in our luggage. Loved the view at sunset from the lanai!

Comfortable, peaceful vacation home

  • 4 of 5
Very comfortable home in quiet neighborhood within .2 mile to main drag that goes along shore. We enjoyed the sunsets, but were disappointed by how little of the ocean we could actually see. 5 minutes by car to shopping center, 10-15 minutes by car to cluster of shops and restaurants (depending on traffic, which can be heavy) on the shore. Disappointing not to have easy access to the ocean. Too far too walk, and closest beach areas were not very suitable for swimming. A car is a must. Nice outdoor patio area. Lovely starry view at night. Large deck on street side. MBR ample with large Master Bath and Closet.

Wow! This really is a slice of Paradise on the Kona Coast. We had a fantastic stay. The home was very neat and tidy, and it was a nice bonus to have two decks. We would start on the front deck with our coffee and fruit, and finish our day on the side deck for a barbeque. We were able to walk to the beach and having the beach chairs and towels was excellent. As well a short drive to snorkelling which we did almost every day. The house was very well organized with everything you would need for a restful stay. It was also a very short distance to drive into the main part of Kona for restaurants and shopping. I would definitely stay here again, and have referred to my friends. Thank you!

A great place to stay

  • 5 of 5
We rented this house during Ironman week and it was perfect for our purposes. We had six adults and the house was big enough to give us all a lot of space. The location afforded us the opportunity to go body surfing and snorkeling with just a short walk or drive. It was very clean and well supplied with staples like paper towels, toilet paper, condiments and all those things that can add up if you had to go out and purchase them. If you have a family with kids, this place is ideal. Close enough to the center of Kona to be convenient but far enough away to be private and peaceful. A beautiful home in a great location.
