Cabin in the Woods - 2 Miles to Wilson

We spent a marvelous 8 days in July at this cute, clean, well-furnished cabin set in the woods outside of Wilson, WY on the property of the owner's family home. My husband and I, our 2 adult sons and their wives had a great time cooking up delicious meals, sitting on the front porch sipping wine and watching for moose, and playing lots of games at night at the huge old dining table that dominates the first floor. There are 3 private places for sleeping. On the second floor is a queen loft bedroom with a door and a 2-twins bedroom at the top of the stairs that is spacious and comfortable. On the main floor is a very comfortable double futon next to the gas stove heater, a living room with couch, 2 arm chairs, bookshelves and a flat screen TV (no cable, good for DVDs). There is a large fairly well-equipped full kitchen with island. Our hosts were more than helpful with providing anything we asked for - extra bowls, wine glasses, etc. There is no dishwasher, counter space is limited and with 6 people we could have really used a coffee-maker rather than the French Press provided. We could have also used a place to hang up clothes, all the closet areas on the 2nd floor were boarded shut for some reason. Linens and towels were plentiful. There is only one bath and hot water is a little limited for 6, but we honestly had few problems with that. There is a front lawn area but no table or chairs to sit out there. The cabin is a little isolated and hard to find the first time, but we really enjoyed coming "home" to a quiet, beautiful setting after a full day of hiking or biking or river rafting or whatever we were doing for the day. Wilson is a cute little old-fashioned town and Jackson was just 20 minutes away. We took 2 gorgeous mountain hikes just up the road in the Teton Pass area that were really memorable. The owner told us the cabin is fully winterized and great for ski vacations as well. Being from hot, muggy DC, we loved the cool mountain air nights and the beautiful sunny days. And at night, the stars were truly AMAZING. I would highly recommend this wonderful oasis in the Jackson Hole area. Gerry and Nancy were wonderful hosts, they have small children and a very friendly dog. We enjoyed all of them yet still had all the privacy we wanted.
